How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Joan of Arc Winter Warmth I am thrilled with these boots! I have wanted this boot for about 3 years now and last year I shopped after the holiday season and could not find my size anywhere. So this time I bought them ahead of the season! I wear a size 8 with thin custom orthodics and my feet get cold easily in the winter. So after reading several reviews I decided to order a 1/2 size larger (8.5) and they fit perfect with winter socks and my orthodics. My feet stay toasty warm, the boots are very comfortable to walk in, as well as stylish. I am very pleased with the quality and value. I would recommend a 1/2 size larger if you want to wear thicker socks. November 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love Sorels I love Sorel boots had a pair for years love the removable felt pack. I have not worn these out in the weather as of yet due to no snow yet. However I did do some checking before I ordered these. I ordered 1 size up and am able to get thicker socks on comfortably, my true size I would have had to wear no socks and they would have fit that way. wore them around in house very comfortable. Waiting for snow. November 21, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Caution for High Arches. I am a true size 6. I tried these on in a 6 1/2 because that's what the store had in stock. I could slide my fingers down behind my heel in the 6 1/2 so I decided even with good socks that they would be too big and my foot would move around too much so I had them order me a 6. However, when they were delivered to my home and put on with normal socks it took considerable effort to slide my foot in because of how high my arches are, and I got worried that I would be out of luck with these boots. After wearing them consistently for about 10-14 days (2-3 hours at a time running errands etc.) it got easier to get my foot in and out and am so glad that I kept my true to size boots. They do exceptionally well in the MN snow, slush and cold. November 19, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by POOR QUALITY I received my boots and I was super excited. However, although comfortable, they rub on the back of my ankles. They fit perfectly so it isn't a sizing issue. It's a boot cut issue. In addition to the heal chaffing, a button was broken when I received my boots where the insert attaches to the boot. I didn't wear them right away due to unseasonably warm weather here in Michigan. So, I didn't notice until I actually just wore them this past week. I'm disappointed. I expected more from Sorel. Rated 3 out of 5 by Size 8 Green I purchased the green color because it looked so beautiful. I was between sizes, 7.5 and 8. I am glad I ordered an 8! These boots are very snug. If I had a size lower I don't think I could have fit. It is true that these boots are stiff around the ankle, and they do feel heavy and clunky when you walk in them. It is a bit of a disappointment. But I hope it will just mean that it makes it more durable for winter. I'm going to Iceland and ordered these to keep me warm. I hope they do the trick. In the photo the shoes look slim at the base, and toe area but in real life they look funny- not terrible, but they look like a ping pong pattle, more rounded than oval shaped like in the photo. I don't know if any of you really care about that or not. The color Nori Green is beautiful and I like the faux fur. The rubber looks and feels thick so I hope that they don't break after walking in them a bit. I read some reviews that people saw their rubber soles had holes in them right away. But anyway, if you're between sizes, get the one you usually wear. I wear a 7 in heels because of a high arch, so sometimes in flats I fit a 7.5 or 8. I went with the 8 because I wanted to wear big wool socks. I don't have that much room for wool socks in the size 8 but I think they will stretch a little after some wear. Definitely consider this! Rated 5 out of 5 by Ready for El Nino A beautiful looking boot that will keep my feet warm here at 8,000'. I got the Black ones and they are really pretty. Like all Sorel boots, you have to break them in a bit (the seam in the back is stiff) but I've worn this brand for 20 yrs, so not a surprise. These are tall, so had to have a bit of help getting them off because they are new, but that too shall pass! Love the 'fur' ruff and the fact that there are loops to pull the liner out if need be. I wear a size 6 and the foot bed is true to size with a tad of room for a thicker sock if I want to. I am also short, but the boots are not too tall for my leg (about 3" from my knee). My regular sock choice for winter is wool and the combination of those and these boots will keep me warm. I USE my boots for everything (shoveling/walking/snowshoeing) so wanted a boot to be able to hold up to my requirements. Yes, I'm waiting for actual winter to come, but I have never been disappointed in Sorel. November 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots !! I ordered these boots in a size that is 1/2 size larger, i tried on my regular size and it was too snug , i like a little more room in my boot. I'm so glad i did , these boots look great I am so pleased Thanks Sorel ,your the best !! November 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So excited So for 3 long years I've wanted a pair of these boots & I finally thought it was time to do something for myself & buy them. I paid for standard shipping, got them 3 days later & they are PERFECT! Yes, The lower back part does dig in slightly to my Achilles however, I expect that from any new shoe when breaking it in. That being said I can't wait until they a broken in & I can't wait for the snow. I'm winter ready with these & I've already received tons of compliments on how cute they are. Such a good investment! November 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful and Warm I researched these boots for awhile and I'm glad I was finally able to purchase them. I bought the black color and I love them! Very comfortable with versatile look which is why I loved them. I'm located in the northern Midwest and it gets VERY cold and snowy here so I can't wait to use these boots this winter. I normally wear a size 9 boot (due to warmer socks) so I ordered that size in these as well. I probably could fit in a size 8.5, but I have a very high arch and don't think I could have fit my foot down into the boot in the smaller size. If they stretch I plan to just wear thicker socks. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. November 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boots Nice looking boot very comfortable. Have not wore them as of yet but I am sure they will be great in the snow. I am a 9.5 and they fit snug because of all the lining but with a thin sock they fit good. November 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Alaska Got these the first day I got to Alaska. I'm from Texas, moved to Alaska from Hawaii, so I didn't have any winter clothes really. These boots are literally the cutest things I've ever had. The first few days they rubbed the back of my heels, but that's what you get with new boots. I usually wear an 8 1/2, so I got a 9 to have extra room and the 9 for me was just way too much room. I returned them and got an 8 1/2 and they fit perfect with extra room still. Overall, the best looking and feeling winter boot. Keep my feet so warm. And I get so many compliments on them! November 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect I love everything about these boots however I will suggest ordering a size down as I am a consistent size 7 wearer and a 6 fits much better in this particular style. October 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE MY BOOTS!!! I've been wanting the boots for a very long time but they always sell out so quickly so I'm very lucky I finally got my own. I was very impressed once I received them, they're are made very well and are really pretty. I would say they are true to size but make sure you go up one size if you're not sure, I did and it was perfect if I hadn't they would have been ok but a bit tight and if you want to wear thick socks then it's best to go 1 size up but if you like your shoes tight and snug then don't. Can't wait to go on my Winter Vacation with my Sorels, thanks!!! October 28, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cute Boot, Not Made for Extreme Cold Moving from Texas to Alaska in January, I was looking for a boot to keep my feet nice and warm. I did my research and I felt that these would be perfect for Alaska. They worked wonderfully trekking through snow and giving me good footing on ice however; I wore them out to the lake and my feet became painfully cold after about 20-30 minutes. It was fair weather and not ridiculously cold and I'm pretty sure that it was about 0 degrees out. I was disappointed that I spent that much money on a pair of boots and I'm unable to wear them when I go out to the lake. They're more of a "cute" boot to wear around town. October 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Boots! Very comfortable and true to size. A bit tight for someone with a high arch but the boots eventually form to the foot. October 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great winter boot! I wear a 7.5 normally but I purchased an 8 to be safe - super comfortable and leaves some room for a thicker sock. Love these boots!! Definitely recommend, absolutely worth the price for the quality! And, they're adorable. October 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by love these boots I just received these boots yesterday and they are even better in person. I will say I am usually a size 8 (sometimes an 8 1/2 in athletic shoes) but after reading other reviews, I ordered the 8 1/2, and they fit..... but they will be snug with thick socks. I am going to keep them because I have narrow feet and I would be afraid the 9 would be too wide. They are stiff out of the box, but I know they will soften over time. October 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots These boots are adorable! They are exactly what I was looking for. I read a lot of the reviews and was nervous about the size I chose. I wear a 7 in cowboy boots and most other shoes so I looked over the Sorel size chart and figured that I would just try for my normal size 7. I'm glad that I did because with a normal tall sock they fit pretty close to perfect. So when it's winter time and I have a thicker sock I believe they will be perfect! Can't wait! October 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by comfy and chic fits true to size. and will look so cute bundled up in my snow gear October 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by True to size, warm and waterproof Last winter I had purchased the Women’s Joan of Arctic Boot from Sorel. After barely surviving my first winter at college, I knew the following winter I would need to purchase a good pair of boots that would help me trek to class when its 0 degrees out and there’s a foot of snow on the ground (only in Iowa). I had heard a lot of good things about the boots from Sorel so I began to look them up and do a little research. My criteria that I used to evaluate what type of boot would best fit my needs included durability, waterproof, and of course if they would keep my feet warm. When I found this specific boot, it seemed to have fit all of my criteria. The website said food for heavy snow, helps keep warm up to -25 degrees outside, and it said they were waterproof. These boots sounded perfect and I went ahead and ordered them. When they arrived I was extremely happy. They looked just like they did on the website and they fit true to size which I ordered a size 9. I could not wait for the first snow fall to come to I could finally test out my new boots. When it was finally cold enough and I was able to wear them in the snow, these boots worked great and did their job. My feet never got cold and I never had any issues with water seeping through them. The only problem I had was the back of the boot by my heel kept rubbing me and I would get blisters. I’m guessing this only happened because they were knew and I was still trying to break them in. All in all they were a great purchase and I couldn’t be happier. Already looking forward for this winter to come to I can start wearing them again. September 25, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by So disappointed :-( I tried to purchase these over the 2014/15 winter season and they were always out of stock in my size. Finally this fall (2015) I was able to order them and was elated! The problem is that they run small - but moreover that the fur doesn't close all the way around the top of the boot! I have muscular legs and there was a two finger gap in the fur that looked ridiculous. Can't believe I waited so long for these and now have to return them. Why not put the fur on the tongue as well as the top of the boot so it is always a continuous circle of fur?! September 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fabulous More beautiful then the pictures. I wear a 10/10 half..but In boots I always get an 11, they are true to size, prefect with sock. Great hight, not to heavy, practical tied up & fun trendie worn open. I'm totally ready for Chicago's winter!! September 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by These Boots Rock My Joan of Arctic boots (in black) just arrived today. (Very quick service too, from order to delivery.) They're warm, they fit (true to size) and they rock! I normally wear a size 9 in all my footwear so after reading other reviews, I was slightly hesitant to do so, but I'm glad I did. If you've ever worn a pair of cowboy boots or MC boots, you know that there is wiggle room in the toes, snug across the top of the foot, with a slight slip in the heel and that is how these fit. Because of this, I will be able to wear these with thick socks and still be comfortable. I live in Florida and ordered these for my winter vacations up North, so I haven't had the chance to try them in the cold and snow yet, but based on how warm my feet are in them, I know they will keep my feet nice and warm. They're comfortable and they're not clunky or too heavy, as someone else commented, previously. I love mine and highly recommend buying a pair. September 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by AMAZING!! A MUST HAVE! I have been wanting these boots for such a long time! The price seems high but I promise you once you get them you won't be disappointed! The quality is beyond what I expected them to be and I would actually pay more. I am between a 7.5-8 and an 8 fit perfect with two pairs of socks on. If you are on the edge of buying a pair, get them now! They will sell out once winter arrives. You won't be disappointed! September 4, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Highly disappointed Needed a fashionable & wide winter boot that would keep diabetic feet warm. Lives in Chicago. September 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by OBSESSED! I had read that these boots fit a little tight if you go true to size, so I ordered a half size larger. With socks, these fit perfectly but highly suggest measuring your foot and following the sizing chart on the website. September 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love love love Love these boots- fits about true to size- you always wanna be a little bigger than normal due to extra thick socks an what not in the winter, They're so warm, cute and comfy!!! August 27, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Big feet bigger problems I was so super excited to order these now that I live in Michigan. But I normally wear a size 12 and although these shoes were amazing, they r way too small and too tight! I need winter boots like these but they are not for big footed ladies or ladies that need a wide shoe size, if they were to make these in a larger size and wide I would definitely buy them! So disappointed and sad, need winter boots and no where to turn! August 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Size and first impression review. I just received the WOMEN'S JOAN OF ARCTIC BOOT. I am a size 8.5 in shoes without socks, usually when it comes to buying boots I get them in size 9 because of the socks. Here at Sorel they suggested me to get these boots in a size 8.5 based of my feet length but I went ahead and ordered the size 9 instead. If I would have followed the Sorel sizing suggestion I would have had to return it since 9 is just right, not less not more. Ill try to update about quality and use when winter arrives. For now its just a size review. Also they look really nice but are heavy and like any rubber shoes, they are not super easy to take of and put on but not so hard either. August 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Boot's - They run big These boot's run about a full size bigger than your normal shoe size. If you only go a half size down, it may take longer for them to break in and because of the thick leather and rubber, it can rub the skin and hurt, possibly leaving blisters. Going a full size down is a good idea. If they are a little tight, they do stretch out a little with use. August 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what i wanted! I have been looking at these boots for over a year now and I finally decided to buy them, and I am very pleased! I will be attending school on the west side of Michigan so I wanted to be prepared for the snow and I've heard great things about the brand. They arrived in a timely manner. everyone says they run small, I don't necessary agree with that. I feel they run true to size. I ordered a size 7 and I'm usually a size 7 no matter what the shoe. my only advice is that if you do like to wear thick socks in the winter, with your winter boots, I WOULD recommend going up half a size. I like to wear my normal socks with boots so I will be fine with the size I ordered. I would also recommend buying these boots before the fall even arrives. I tried to order them for Christmas and they had all but sold out. July 29, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Can't live with them but can't live without them I bought these in Curry. I'll start off with a compliment on the style and detail of the boots-- with one major error aside, they are truly something I would pay upwards of $300 for rather than $150. They are very, very warm. I find my feet sweating when I am getting frostbite up top... I find that they are very heavy... which makes them hard to do a lot of walking in. They are about 2 pounds each, which is a lot more than it sounds like! They are extremely well constructed and it is clear that every detail was carefully thought through. With that being said however, I have one major issue with this boot. After a while of walking, the heel to the back of the calf region begin to get stabbed by a lousy piece of metal on the spine of the boot. The metal is clearly there to make sure the boots hold shape but none the less, the placement of such metal is damaging and almost unbearable. I had to stuff socks down by the back of my calf to try and lessen the pain. And I'm saddened to say that this is not simply a "breaking in period" but rather a product error. I wish I could wear these more often but I simply can not tolerate such a demanding error in these boots. All in all, if that issue with the spine of the boot would be fixed, I would buy again. Rated 5 out of 5 by WOMEN'S JOAN OF ARCTIC™ BOOT I am so excited I bought these boots! I actually got them last winter and they are AMAZING. The rubber comes up just far enough so that the bottom portion does not get ruined. The suede portion is all connected which is a great feature as I did not have the issue of snow getting into the creases of the tongue of the shoe. You can tell this boot was truly made with people who deal with heavy snow falls. This was quite an expensive buy for me as an independent college student, but i'll tell you like I have told others, it was one of my best investments yet. A great crafted boot. I will soon be purchasing the "WOMEN’S OUT N ABOUT™ GLOW BOOT." I am hoping this shoe too lives beyond my expectations from Sorel. P.S. You may want to buy some suede protection spray to keep the suede looking good. I did that when I first got them and occasionally afterwards and mine still look brand new. Even after weeks of walking in 6 to 12 inches of snow. Also, you will have to break them in as the material on the back of the heel rubs your skin almost raw. Wear thick socks for sure!!! June 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Boot I am an 8.5 B width in all shoes yet in this boot the 8.5 and the 9 were both too small. This is due to the tremendous liner in this boot, which is why it's so warm. So,after my experience I would recommend going up a size. There has to be "wiggle room" for your toes for warmth. June 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for the NYC winter These boots both look and perform great in the snowy, wet, windy bitter cold winters in the North East. I didn't suffer any leakage while navigating slushy corners, or digging my car out of foot deep snow drifts. They kept me warm and looking very stylish from Christmas until the season finally ended in late March. I found them to run a bit large, even with a thicker sock, so order down if your on the lower end of a size. No complaints here! May 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I regret nothing I usually wear a 10 in dress shoes, boots, you name it. Thankfully I tried on a friends size 10 boots and decided they were a bit short in the toe for me. That being said, I always wear more than one pair of socks in winter boots so I like them roomier for that purpose. The quality is excellent, they are super cute, and I regret nothing! May 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by bought same boot twice! I searched & searched for this boot in my size, (finally backordered) & totally ok with these for next winter, I just wanted them! However, as I was viewing them online my 22yr old son made me aware he planned to get boots for his girlfriend for the holidays! (he being colored blind) stated: "I could help him, & what about those you are viewing now"? ~ I pointed to his Carhart work vest for color of these boots, he said "perfect"! & that's how I BOUGHT 2 AWESOME, 'SHALE' COLORED, JOAN OF ARTIC boots!!!! April 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice LOOK Warm FEEL When the boots finely became available in my size I no longer needed them. I still decided to place the order for we are still going to have another winter. I was not sure on how to get the right size so I drew my foot on a piece of paper than used a ruler with inches & Centimeters (CM) on it. My foot measured 25.5 (CM) which equals an 8.5 In US. I normally wear an 8 to 8.5 and this is a great fit for me. April 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by My wife is giddy with excitement My life loves her new boots and they look great on her. April 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best snow boot I've owned Kept my feet warm and dry throughout the day. Very comfortable! I would recommend these boots to anyone, a great investment! April 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Slightly big Totally in love with these boots but just a warning these boots run slightly big. I wish I would have ordered them a half size smaller. :-( March 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and comfortable Bought the size I normally wear in shoes and boots and they fit great. My niece raved about them so I had to try -and I love them as much as she said I would! Very warm and comfortable, look like serious winter boots! March 19, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Ouch! I read a lot of reviews before I purchased these boots and everyone had said to go a half a size up. I did that, and my feet still have blisters on them from wearing them TWICE this winter. I had to wear three pairs of socks, and buy leg warmers to stop the rubbing. The boots are perfect for snow/water. My other complaint I have not read on any other review is they are impossible to get off your feet. Which makes it bad when you go outside and forget something inside. I would probably reccomend these boots if they didnt rip my feet the only two times wearing them March 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots! I bought these boots and wore them for the first time in NY. The weather has been sporadic this year so I didn't want to take any chances with my feet being cold. The lowest temps we got were in the 10s-20s and I did wear them upstate in snow. I got them half a size bigger to fit thicker socks, but at least for this trip, that turned out to be unnecessary. I think I could've almost gone without socks and still been warm. My feet were actually hot a few times and the shoes were very comfortable even though I was breaking them in from new. I highly recommend them! March 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by AMAHZING I live in Manhattan, which means I walk everywhere, battling snow, rain and wind on a regular basis in the winter. And your shoes are like your tires. If you don't invest in good tires, your car is going to eventually break down. Since these boots have come into my life, it hasn't been the same. I now love walking in the snow, wiggling my feet in warmth and frequently fend off shoe-enviers in droves. So do something nice to your feet for once. Don't make them suffer in the cold. March 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Have snow? Get Sorel! Impulse buy. We went on an impromptu weekend Christmas vacation to Cloudcroft, NM last year. My insulated wellies were not the right boots to wear in 14+ inches of snow. My hubby and I ran into a ski shop, both purchased a pair and glad we did. I researched them quickly and I normally wear a 5.5 or 6 and based on reviews most said size up as well as the shop owner. I bought a 7. While they work great with thick boot socks, I can't wear them with regular thinner socks since my foot will slip up. I will say, sizing up also helped them not to rub the backs of my feet. I love them and have the dark brown pair. My only issue is they are slightly bulky for us narrow footed gals but this helps when traipsing through the mountains of New Mexico in knee high snow walls. The wider step helps push down the snow and gives a firm non-slip grip! Love them overall and they're very stylish. The extra room in the front end helps keep a warm air pocket so my toes aren't freezing. Wear with one pair of thick socks. Adding too many pairs traps the cold (lesson learned). I'll buy again once these are worn out. February 27, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Boots with the fur.... I currently own my second pair of Joan of Arctics. My first pair I sent back for warranty work because 3 of 4 snaps broke the first winter. This pair was lost in the mail. I bought a second pair, and after 1 1/2 months, I already have one broken snap that flops around when I walk. Love the boots, but poor design with the snapped straps that hold the boot liner in. New boots that are already broken.... February 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fit Just Right I read many reviews stating that the fit is too small or too tight. I wear a size 8 and have wide feet. I ordered a size a 8 and they fit just right. They are keeping my feet very warm in Chicago. February 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good looking, practical but small I was a little wary of how I would like the bright laces but they are actually really fun. I like the praticality (non-slip sole) but the fit was tight. Normally I'm 11.5, I ordered up to a 12 and even w thin socks my toe rubs at the front and I've gotten a bad blister at the back. Trying to decide if I can withstand breaking them in or need to return. Wouldn't want to as I like how they look but painful! February 12, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very warm Very warm and fits a little big but if you have a wide foot these are your boot. The only negative is the back of the boot rubs on your heel and has to Be broken in for it to be comfortable. February 11, 2015
