Rated 1 out of 5 by Fell apart! Start with I really liked these boots great fit, comfort and warmth UNTIL- after 23 months from purchase BOTH boots separated from sole and upper! Of course warranty is 12 months! I want another pair but just cant with good conscience go out and spend $150 if problem has not been addressed/resolved. Read and heed the reviews!!! September 30, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Materials In Construction!! For the first 1 year these boots were great!!!But on the second year the upper leather completely separated from the lower plastic/rubber. I only used these boots four or five times!! Unless you like to throw money away and need a good boot for only a year....these are great! September 24, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by awesome looking horrible quality if someone is reading this to get an idea if they should buy this boot, don't! Like everyone has said previously, the leather pulls apart from the rubber. I've only owned my pair for 2 seasons about 8 times or less only to shovel my tinny drive way and they fell apart. Don't be like me and ignore the reviews just because it looks so well made and though because the the tread used is defective May 20, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Quality Had these boots for only two seasons and the seam/ rubber is ripped, yet beyond the warranty. Had other Sorels for well of 20 years, I guess quality is not what it used to be. April 4, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a very good boot! I work in a freezer storage unit that is -12 all the time and this boot is suppose to be rated at -40, but my feet still get cold. Also, if someone is reading this to get an idea if they should buy this boot, dont! Like everyone has said previously, the leather pulls apart from the rubber. I've only owned my pair for 2 months and never have taken them out in the snow, only to work and they fell apart. Don't be like me and ignore the reviews just because you really want them. Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Snow Boot The conquest is not a big clunky snow boot and yet a very warm boot. February 2, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Fell apart Bought these boots a couple of years ago and loved them for the little it snows a deep amount in NYC. If I wear them twice a year that is a stretch. This year during the blizzard I wore them and they completely broke apart. I had to have someone go to the store to buy me a new pair of shoes to wear home. They do keep your foot dry and warm but they are obviously not durable. January 30, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Jonas brought out the bad in Conquest As I hoping by reading all the negative reviews and that they have all the same common theme of the top separating from the bottom that Sorel will stand behind their product which I have used since my first pair of Sorels and my ice fishing equipment in the same Christmas so many years ago. I like everyone else took out my Conquest during Jonas to take battle with the snow. To my amazement when coming in from the snow, I noticed that the tops of my boots had completely separated from the bottoms but my feet were still dry. But the boots are now are no longer able to be used. This is something that I could see happening to some "knock-off" brand of boots which one only pays $20.00 bucks for. But these are Sorels and purchasing them at my local Gander Mnt. was not CHEAP! So I'm hoping like so many other reviews that Sorel will step up to plate and make it correct for all of the people that are having the same problem with this boot. One person having this problem; call it bad luck. Countless bad reviews as Tom Hanks would say "Houston we have a PROBLEM!" So I'm hoping for a happy ending for a life long customer. For the time being I can not recommend this boot, but if Sorel stands behind their products I will gladly change my recommendation to a "YES." Love the product but the design is troubling. January 27, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Comfortable while they lasted! These boots are great looking, many compliments. Had them for 3 years, wearing them maybe 20 times per year. The upper leather completely seperated from the lower plastic/rubber. The top of the toe area on one of the boots cracked right down the center. And believe me, I wasn't doing much more than walking in these boots. I can't imagine how long they would have lasted if I put them through any more than that, a year maybe. January 26, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful product With a name like Sorel I thought they produced quality boots. Boy was I wrong. This is the second season for them. I used them apprx. 4 or 5 times last year and when I went to put them on this year the top split off the bottom. Very happy that I have a pair of Uggs as well. I would not recommend these to anyone. January 26, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Don't Buy This Boot I grew up on Sorels. Always long lasting and solid boots. I've now had two pairs of these Conquest's. Both had seems split between the rubber and leather. Neither made it through more than a season. In going through the reviews, on their site, for this products, there are many similar problems. Also, the cinch buckle on both pairs never worked so fit was always sloppy. Too bad as they were true to size and perfectly matched to our New England winters. I'm very disappointed and will not buy another pir of their boots. January 25, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible Quality! I wore these great LOOKING boots out in Jonas this weekend only to find that they are COMPLETELY falling apart, exactly how numerous other reviewers have experienced. I have only worn these about twenty times in the past year, and the rubber is cracked and chunking off of the boot completely at the flex point (read: there are large HOLES in the boot). Even worse, the stitched upper is COMPLETELY separating from the rubber bottom. I have owned many Sorels throughout my life growing up in the upper Midwest and always loved them, but this boot is simply junk and completely unacceptable. It truly has made me rethink the brand. January 24, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Good looking boot/poor construction I've had my Sorel Conquest boots for approximately 5 years, however, in northern Calif we've been in a severe drought for the previous 4 years with very little rain or snow. During the drought, I only wore my boots 4 or 5 total times. This year we've had more normal weather conditions, so I wanted to use these boots to keep my feet dry and warm. When I actually began to wear them regularly, the seam on the left boot split open at the start of the third day. This was very disappointing to say the least. After my experience and upon reading other reviews on this boot, i will not recommend this product to anyone and have some reservations toward any Sorel product since they've continued to market this boot even though almost 40% of them (based on the reviews) failed within a couple of weeks of actual use. January 22, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Stay away!! The boots looked and felt awesome in the store. They seemed to fit a little snug, and purchasing 1/2 size larger than I usually wear gave me the fit I needed. That's where my satisfaction began to decline. Got most of the season out of them, then the basically fell apart. The top part of the boot detached at the seam from the bottom. I figured it was just me, but when I was talking about it to a friend, his wife laughed at me and said... Oh, like this? And pulled out his boots that did the exact same thing. Now I read the feedback.... I would have expected it from generics, but from a company like sorel!? The name is now something for me to avoid. January 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wasn't sure.... My first pair of Sorel boots was 15 years ago with a pair I bought in a store. The laces broke the plastic eyelets and destroyed the boot (never needed new laces, EVER!). With no Sorel retailer in my town, I had to order my next pair over the internet. They were too tight, and I later suffered a car accident and a broken foot so no boot has ever fit correctly or I couldn't get my foot in them. Having to order on-line again, without trying them on, I didn't know what to expect. I read the reviews about shoddy workmanship and material, but ordered them anyway. Well, they arrived. I was able to put them on, even with my broken foot, a size 10.5, my size (I didn't have to size up). I wore them around the house for a couple days to see if my foot would feel okay in them (my foot is deformed). They feel great!! I then took them out on one of the coldest days of the year in Omaha, a high of 1 with a -19 wind chill, and a slushy snow, with thin cotton socks on and my feet were HOT! I was able to walk about 2 miles and my broken foot did not hurt!! Only time will tell if they will hold up under strenuous or harsher conditions, but so far, in the 3 days I've worn them, they are the most comfortable, and warm, winter hiking boot I've ever owned!! January 13, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Only last a few times Went to wear my Sorels to the snow today, to my dismay after wearing them for about 15 minutes they felt loose when I looked at them the rubber began separating at the sew seam away from the rubber material and cracking, I have only worn these a few times as I do not get to the snow that often, I am truly bummed as I loved these boots and they still look in great shape, not sure if they can be repaired, but I am totally bummed. January 10, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Boot came apart after 10 uses I'm disappointed to see the boots come apart after using them about 10 times. The seam between the tan top half and the black bottom half separated. And with only a one year warranty on footwear, I'm stuck having to buy another pair of boots. January 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boots I have ever had! I bought these boots in January 2015, because I worked as a Security Officer at Okemo Mtn in Vermont, and my regular boots kept literally freezing, which means my feet would freeze. I purchased these, and I have never purchased any footwear that costs more than $50, but I am glad I did. These boots are super rugged, even with my 6' 6" 300 lb self! Great traction, and so far, on the 2nd winter, still able to keep my feet nice and toasty! They are extremely well built boots. I would recommend them to anyone! January 4, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Two Pairs, Two Leakers Bought a pair and after one time in the snow the left toe box area developed a leak. Returned pair one. Exchanged them for pair number two. After one day in those both boots were damp in the toe box area. Big bummer as they were a warm and comfy boot. On to the Caribou boot. January 2, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Why is this boot rated so high? The boot is GREAT unless you plan on using them more then a few times. The rubber falls apart. It cracks like it is some vintage 60 year old piece of rubber. how does quality like this make it to market. Do not buy these boots!! Read the pile of reviews and look at the photos people have posted. They are junk. And it is totally shocking that they still sell this product!! Please stop buying it!!! Sorel, put together enough moral fiber and do the right thing. Either make a product that last more then a few seasons or stop selling boots. December 30, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Boots! I've had these boots for around 7 years. I love them to death. I've used them every winter, and only today did the rubber top crack and separate from the leather upper. I'm sad that they didn't last longer, but they've lasted quite a long time. They're comfortable, I've never gotten a blister from wearing them, and they're worth it. My only complaint is about the rubber cracking and separating. December 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Legit I acquired these boots & needed serious proof that they would be worth wearing as i asked for a different pair for christmas. I couldn't be happier I got the Conquest, I live at 9000ft in the Rockies, very rough on all outer wear. These boots have been nothing but solid, reliable, comfortable and all around great. I don't know if the other reviews got a batch that was sealed improperly or what have you, but I love mine, i suggest them to anyone who does a lot of trekking, makes my feet feel safe, cheers. November 13, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very short life span I liked them ok for the first 45 days. After that, the sole started to separate from the boot, allowing snow melt to seep in and make my feet miserably cold. Fall apart junk, what I would expect from a Walmart boot. Thankfully the store I bought from doesn't play around, gave me full credit towards a better pair that did last out the winter for me. Better step up your game Sorel, your well earned reputation for quality won't last long if you don't. This type of product will lose you lifelong customers. August 17, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Upper Seperated from sole with litte use I bought these in February 2014 to have a pair of boots on hand for cold and snow. Took them out of the box this winter and on the second wear the upper separated from the sole on one of them from the instep all the way around the heel to the other instep. No warranty, so these boots have proved worthless. March 6, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Fell apart at the seams First let me say that I absolutely LOVE Sorels! I just have an issue with one of my fave pairs, in the Conquest series. While traversing through NYC a typical commute, running up and down stairs, from platform to platform, I notice my boots were beginning to fall apart in the heel area near the molding and upper leather seams. I didn't think I was going to make it home without the sole completely tearing apart from the rest of the boot. I was mortified as I sat on the train trying to conceal my predicament and how I would tie bags around my boots should they completely come apart! Anyway, it seems as though the rubber degraded in such a way that that tore apart from the upper seam. The rest of the boot, as you can see from the photos - soles, leather and fabric upper, and gaiters are in otherwise great condition, as I am quite meticulous in taking care of my footwear. I've only worn them during the worst of winter conditions, maybe 3 dozen times, as I feel these boots were made to endure such. I am heartbroken over this since these were one of three favorite pairs Sorels. Please reply if you have rectified the issue as I have read other reviews stating the same problem. I am strongly considering replacing these for the same model BUT only if I don't have to worry about them falling apart whilst traipsing through the brutal streets of NYC. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration in this matter. With regards, BklynJuls February 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots Very warm ,not too big or Galompy. I love these boots .just got them and they seem very well made. I wear them when we walk our dog through the snow. February 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Conquest Do not buy this boot! Do not buy the special spray to make them last longer! Do yourself a favor and buy cheap boots and just replace them more often. *Very Disappointed!* February 9, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product is the worse! Barely wore these boots and they literally fell apart on my feet. The whole rubber separated from the leather and the soles. January 28, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Seams are Weak or Poorly Placed i've now had to send back two pairs of these boots. within two months of receiving each pair, the stitched seam between the rubber lower and leather upper split. which bodes poorly for me, since i am outdoors and busy much of the winter in a northern climate and really require sturdy boots that keep snow and water out. these no longer do after that split. it seems the plastic lip that they stitch onto doesn't extend far enough or isn't thick enough. i also had a lace holder (those little metal triangle rings) pop off one for no reason, and the lining along the back of the heel degrade incredibly fast, despite NEVER sliding my foot into the boots carelessly. aside from those problems, these are beautiful boots that do keep my feet reasonably warm in extreme cold. i wouldn't call them -40 boots personally, though (even with wool socks). they are comfortable to wear and give good grip on rough terrain and ice. i appreciate sorel's willingness to switch these boots out - and hope this time i can get ones with better seam placement that won't have the same issue. January 23, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by the boot that falls apart boots were great for the first couple years until this last weekend. The rubber soles began cracking and shredding apart completely separating from the leather upper! January 20, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by It's All Coming Apart at the Seams After attempting to shoe-glue for the 3rd time a wide crack between the upper and lower sections of an older pair of boots manufactured by Columbia (which is now the parent company of Sorel) I was determined to invest in a good pair of boots from the well-known top brand Sorel. I thought the Conquest boots would provide my feet many years of warmth and comfort. Unfortunately they did neither. From the onset, both boots 'buckled' and pinched the top of my feet. I thought maybe they needed to be broken in, the laced adjusted or maybe some sort of leather treatment would help - nope. After wearing them maybe 10-15 times, they began to crack at the seam where the upper leather meets the synthetic lower part of the boot - So I'm in the same situation less than a year later! I bought a pair of used *15 year old* winter boots, made in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, USA, that will last another 15 years and won't have to worry about quality when I'm in the field. Unfortunately, after much searching there is almost zero selection of non-imported winter hiking boots. So I’m sending the Conquest's back, requesting replacement with a better quality boot made domestically - or a full refund. I will update this review upon further developments. December 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rear of boot came apart I had these boots for ~6-7 years, wore them when there is snow in tahoe on the weekends. The soles were still perfect, but the leather separated from the rubber in back where it was stitched. It looks like the rubber was a little thin at this point and ripped. Much to my surprise, Sorel offered to replace the boots with ones of my choice, even though the 1 year warranty is up. I'll probably pick another model since the Conquest has had it's share of issues and received the lowest rating. Too bad. Loved the boots. Very warm, comfortable and rugged. December 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent deep snow & very low temps I've owned a pair of Conquest boots for 5-6 yrs. They're used working on a mtn property in central Vermont, snowshoeing, and deer hunting from stands in near zero temps. They have never failed me. The slightly large size allows an extra thick pair of socks if needed, but has never caused chafing or boot movement even on steep sideways traverses. No hardware failures despite hard treatment, gaiter keeps out knee-deep snow & back tab holds snowshoes straps tightly. Never had a hint of water in the boots, but I oil them as needed. I wouldn't go dancing in them. December 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Met all my needs This boot is ridiculously warm! I play in the snow alot and decided to battle test these bad mothers to the max. Snowmobile camping, igloo constructing, and snowshoeing. These boots have the durability and warmth to get a 5 star on all of my tests. Great product! December 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mongolia. UB Very good boots. Like November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Conquest I have owned a pair of these for 14 years and they are an outstanding pair of boots. Over some pretty harsh Michigan winters, these boots have exceeded my expectations for a winter boot. Every time I think I want a new pair of boots, I just take a look at these ones and realize that they are everything I want is a winter boot. Warm, water resistant, good traction in snow. They are great. If they ever wear out, I will get another pair October 14, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Conquest Boots i had two pair of these boots and the same thing happened to both. the rubber rotted. just a little over a year. great boots though comfortable warm ,style is great but the rubber sucks. you would think they would have changed the rubber by now but its been almost five years for me and i bet they made the ones they have now the same way. i will buy another pair only if i know they fixed the rubber problem. i read other people have the same problem also. do i recommend this product. not right now until the rubber problem is fix. August 15, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great looking, but poor construction I used the boots during the winter so my feet could stay dry. I have horses and I wanted a waterproof / water resistant boot that would keep my feet warm and dry in the mix of snow, mud and water that puddles in our pasture. After the first winter, they started to leak and eventually, the boot pulled apart at the rubber lining near the tread and the leather. These boots are all show and no go if you are wearing them a lot. I think the below freezing weather might have something to do with the boots staying together as the rubber eventually dries up and cracks even with proper treatment of mink oil and whatnot. February 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Winter Boot I've had these boots for 5 years. Much of my work is outside and have worn them virtually everyday throughout the winter for all these years, they are the best winter boots I've owned. I live in a cold place so I need a warm boot. They have the best traction of any boot I've found on the market. My feet stay warm on the coldest of days/nights. Now after 5 years the rubber bottom is tearing from the leather upper where they are sewn together....they are still dry and warm. I am buying another pair. February 15, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Conquest Boot I used the boots only in the winter when it snowed, maybe 5 times a year. I was very surprised to see when the upper part of the boot started to crack and detach from the lower part. I sent an email and I am waiting for a reply. Hopefully I'll get a good result and they will replace them. I will post again when I get an answer. February 6, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Falling apart after just a few years of very light use As you have likely read in all of the other reviews about this product disintegrating, I have had the exact same experience. I bought these a few years ago and have only worn them 20 to 25 times (the soles and leather uppers are still in nearly new conditions. The issue in the rubber that secures the soles to the leather uppers, it cracked from front to back. I was thrilled when I first bought he boot to have the "Sorel" quality, now I am amazed it how shoddy the materials are in their products. I have owned several pair of boots in my life some of which I am still using after more than 20 years. At the end of the day I will make my decision on this company based on how they deal with me about this flaw in their product line. February 3, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Boots fell apart I had my Sorel Conquest boots a long time 12 years, but did not use them much. They otherwise look like new, but the rubber attached to the leather broke from age. This is not what I expected from a Sorel boot. Sorel says that they only support a one year warranty. Obviously I expected them to last longer. The rubber sole is good, but the rubber connecting the sole to the leather is cracking and losing chunks. These boots were not stored in harsh conditions. My wife's boots purchased at the same time look good and we expect that they will last for many more years. January 29, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poorly Constructed Boot I have had these boots for several years with very light use; I only have worn them to shovel snow, probably 20 times. The upper brown part has entirely separated at teh seam from the lower black rubber piece, which allows the insulation to come out. Generally the boots are ruined. I have a pair of cheap Bass snow boots that I wear to work all day exclusively when it snows that I bought in the spring after I bought the Sorrel boots (they were are a clearance sale. The Bass boots were worn for exactly the same number of days, for a lot longer time each day, and still look in almost new condition. The $20 Bass boot (what I paid) is a lot better boot than the $120 Sorel boot, by far! January 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rubber Toe Cup Disintegration Problem I've been an avid SOREL customer for a great many years, having owned several pairs of the Caribou boot. The same goes for other members of my family and friends. I had never had any problems with a SOREL product -- until recently. Several seasons ago, I "upgraded" to the Conquest boots. They are now disintegrating! Mere fingertip pressure reveals deep cracks in the rubber toe cup area extending down through to the clean while liner! These Conquest boots have been worn very little and stored clean indoors. They still look brand new and are free of any trauma. The defective Conquest boots are now on their way to SOREL for evaluation. As this problem is also similarly depicted in several other reviews, I expect SOREL to respect their customers and replace the inherently defective product. With minimal use there is simply no reason for this sort of a defect. As soon as SOREL replaces the product, I'll be eager to promptly supplement this review with a positive recommendation and provide a glowing FIVE STAR rating hailing SOREL's Customer Service decision to stand behind the quality of their product! Should SOREL fail to do so, this review shall stand on it's own. SOREL Customer Service has advised that it may take 6-8 weeks due to the busy winter season. Stay tuned for updates.... Rated 1 out of 5 by Zero Durability - Cracking Rubber & Leaking Had these boots for a few years and with very light use and good care, the rubber has cracked and the boots leak. Thought Sorel was a quality brand and did not mind the extra cost but these boots are now garbage. I have an old pair of no name KMart $15 boots that have out lasted these Sorels. At this point I would not recommend Sorel products. January 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Dissapointed I purchased my first pair of Sorels (Mens Conquest). I have to say they have not held up. My last pair of boots were with me for 12 years and I wore out the soles. After being tired of having wet feet, I went to the store, these boots caight my eye and had visions of warm happy feet. I have worn these boots about 25 times only when it snows or while doing snow removal. We have had three storms storms this year and my feel have been cold and damp. I can't understand this? Well yesterday we just got dumped on again and the temps are sub zero my feet are freezing. I looked down and I can see water water dripping out where the sole attaches to the boot not the leather.. I have bragged about this boot now I am embarrassed and really can't afford to dish out another $180.00 for another pair of boots right now. I really thought they would last much longer. I called customer service and the nice woman told me they were flexible but would not garantee anything. Now if I send them back out of waranty I'm still without. I thought i would just go buy some type of sllicone product to temporarily fix the Boot. Hopefully they will hold up throuhght the rest of the winter. We are inb the begging of Jan? They fit perfect by the way and are the most comfortable shoes/ boots I own. January 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by College son loves these! Ordered these as a gift for my college son...and he loves them! Sorel is an excellent brand that lasts so knew it would be worth the money if he was happy and he is! January 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sizing... Quality is there...after all...they are Sorel's. They run smaller than the rest of the lines sizing...everyone always says they leave room for thick socks in their sizing, but these don't have that extra room like the other models I tried in an 11.5 Additionally, I order them in Black and got a pair in some kind of Grey...? December 31, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Cracking at Stichting These boots have seen very light use over the past two winters. They were always stored in a closet between seasons and only used on days when it was either snowing or the snow had not been cleaned up from a previous storm The Conquest boot has not held up well. The metal cleat near at the center of the laces near the toe has torn out. That I could have lived with but this year the boots began to crack and separate where the leather meets the rubber (See Pictures). AS you can see from they tread they have very little wear. Based on some of the other reviews this seems like a common problem with this boot. Once they start to crack snow becomes lodged in behind the rubber and it is only a matter of time before your feet are soaking wet and cold. I would not recommend this boot. December 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Winter Boot I bought a pair of Badgers in the early 80's. They have been to Canada and Europe and countless trips to Lake Tahoe. I still have them and they are in great shape. I didn't need another pair of boots but the design of the Conquest with the gator and the fishing I'm doing convinced me to buy them. Only wish is that I ordered a smaller size. Great boot, for those of you who are going to order I recommend that you order a 1/2 size smaller than your normal size. December 25, 2013
