Men's Conquest™ Boot

Men's Conquest™ Boot 3.8 5 76 77
Conquest Boots i had two pair of these boots and the same thing happened to both. the rubber rotted. just a little over a year. great boots though comfortable warm ,style is great but the rubber sucks. you would think they would have changed the rubber by now but its been almost five years for me and i bet they made the ones they have now the same way. i will buy another pair only if i know they fixed the rubber problem. i read other people have the same problem also. do i recommend this product. not right now until the rubber problem is fix. August 15, 2014
Great looking, but poor construction I used the boots during the winter so my feet could stay dry. I have horses and I wanted a waterproof / water resistant boot that would keep my feet warm and dry in the mix of snow, mud and water that puddles in our pasture. After the first winter, they started to leak and eventually, the boot pulled apart at the rubber lining near the tread and the leather. These boots are all show and no go if you are wearing them a lot. I think the below freezing weather might have something to do with the boots staying together as the rubber eventually dries up and cracks even with proper treatment of mink oil and whatnot. February 15, 2014
Great Winter Boot I've had these boots for 5 years. Much of my work is outside and have worn them virtually everyday throughout the winter for all these years, they are the best winter boots I've owned. I live in a cold place so I need a warm boot. They have the best traction of any boot I've found on the market. My feet stay warm on the coldest of days/nights.Now after 5 years the rubber bottom is tearing from the leather upper where they are sewn together....they are still dry and warm. I am buying another pair. February 15, 2014
Conquest Boot I used the boots only in the winter when it snowed, maybe 5 times a year. I was very surprised to see when the upper part of the boot started to crack and detach from the lower part. I sent an email and I am waiting for a reply. Hopefully I'll get a good result and they will replace them.I will post again when I get an answer. February 6, 2014
Falling apart after just a few years of very light use As you have likely read in all of the other reviews about this product disintegrating, I have had the exact same experience. I bought these a few years ago and have only worn them 20 to 25 times (the soles and leather uppers are still in nearly new conditions. The issue in the rubber that secures the soles to the leather uppers, it cracked from front to back.I was thrilled when I first bought he boot to have the "Sorel" quality, now I am amazed it how shoddy the materials are in their products. I have owned several pair of boots in my life some of which I am still using after more than 20 years. At the end of the day I will make my decision on this company based on how they deal with me about this flaw in their product line. February 3, 2014
Boots fell apart I had my Sorel Conquest boots a long time 12 years, but did not use them much. They otherwise look like new, but the rubber attached to the leather broke from age. This is not what I expected from a Sorel boot. Sorel says that they only support a one year warranty. Obviously I expected them to last longer. The rubber sole is good, but the rubber connecting the sole to the leather is cracking and losing chunks. These boots were not stored in harsh conditions. My wife's boots purchased at the same time look good and we expect that they will last for many more years. January 29, 2014
Poorly Constructed Boot I have had these boots for several years with very light use; I only have worn them to shovel snow, probably 20 times. The upper brown part has entirely separated at teh seam from the lower black rubber piece, which allows the insulation to come out. Generally the boots are ruined. I have a pair of cheap Bass snow boots that I wear to work all day exclusively when it snows that I bought in the spring after I bought the Sorrel boots (they were are a clearance sale. The Bass boots were worn for exactly the same number of days, for a lot longer time each day, and still look in almost new condition. The $20 Bass boot (what I paid) is a lot better boot than the $120 Sorel boot, by far! January 23, 2014
Rubber Toe Cup Disintegration Problem I've been an avid SOREL customer for a great many years, having owned several pairs of the Caribou boot. The same goes for other members of my family and friends. I had never had any problems with a SOREL product -- until recently.Several seasons ago, I "upgraded" to the Conquest boots. They are now disintegrating! Mere fingertip pressure reveals deep cracks in the rubber toe cup area extending down through to the clean while liner! These Conquest boots have been worn very little and stored clean indoors. They still look brand new and are free of any trauma. The defective Conquest boots are now on their way to SOREL for evaluation. As this problem is also similarly depicted in several other reviews, I expect SOREL to respect their customers and replace the inherently defective product. With minimal use there is simply no reason for this sort of a defect. As soon as SOREL replaces the product, I'll be eager to promptly supplement this review with a positive recommendation and provide a glowing FIVE STAR rating hailing SOREL's Customer Service decision to stand behind the quality of their product! Should SOREL fail to do so, this review shall stand on it's own.SOREL Customer Service has advised that it may take 6-8 weeks due to the busy winter season. Stay tuned for updates.... Zero Durability - Cracking Rubber & Leaking Had these boots for a few years and with very light use and good care, the rubber has cracked and the boots leak.Thought Sorel was a quality brand and did not mind the extra cost but these boots are now garbage. I have an old pair of no name KMart $15 boots that have out lasted these Sorels. At this point I would not recommend Sorel products. January 3, 2014
Dissapointed I purchased my first pair of Sorels (Mens Conquest). I have to say they have not held up. My last pair of boots were with me for 12 years and I wore out the soles. After being tired of having wet feet, I went to the store, these boots caight my eye and had visions of warm happy feet.I have worn these boots about 25 times only when it snows or while doing snow removal. We have had three storms storms this year and my feel have been cold and damp. I can't understand this?Well yesterday we just got dumped on again and the temps are sub zero my feet are freezing. I looked down and I can see water water dripping out where the sole attaches to the boot not the leather..I have bragged about this boot now I am embarrassed and really can't afford to dish out another $180.00 for another pair of boots right now. I really thought they would last much longer. I called customer service and the nice woman told me they were flexible but would not garantee anything. Now if I send them back out of waranty I'm still without. I thought i would just go buy some type of sllicone product to temporarily fix the Boot. Hopefully they will hold up throuhght the rest of the winter. We are inb the begging of Jan?They fit perfect by the way and are the most comfortable shoes/ boots I own. January 3, 2014
College son loves these! Ordered these as a gift for my college son...and he loves them! Sorel is an excellent brand that lasts so knew it would be worth the money if he was happy and he is! January 3, 2014
Sizing... Quality is there...after all...they are Sorel's.They run smaller than the rest of the lines sizing...everyone always says they leave room for thick socks in their sizing, but these don't have that extra room like the other models I tried in an 11.5Additionally, I order them in Black and got a pair in some kind of Grey...? December 31, 2013
Cracking at Stichting These boots have seen very light use over the past two winters. They were always stored in a closet between seasons and only used on days when it was either snowing or the snow had not been cleaned up from a previous stormThe Conquest boot has not held up well. The metal cleat near at the center of the laces near the toe has torn out. That I could have lived with but this year the boots began to crack and separate where the leather meets the rubber (See Pictures). AS you can see from they tread they have very little wear. Based on some of the other reviews this seems like a common problem with this boot. Once they start to crack snow becomes lodged in behind the rubber and it is only a matter of time before your feet are soaking wet and cold.I would not recommend this boot. December 31, 2013
Best Winter Boot I bought a pair of Badgers in the early 80's. They have been to Canada and Europe and countless trips to Lake Tahoe. I still have them and they are in great shape.I didn't need another pair of boots but the design of the Conquest with the gator and the fishing I'm doing convinced me to buy them.Only wish is that I ordered a smaller size. Great boot, for those of you who are going to order I recommend that you order a 1/2 size smaller than your normal size. December 25, 2013
Rugged Comfortable and Warm I was looking for the warmest boots that would be worn in harsh environments - not because I was going to the coldest corners of the arctic, but because I wanted a great boot that could easily hold up on a cold, wet, muddy, snowy horse farm in the Mid-Atlantic. The treadwear is great, very deep and secure in deep mud or snow. The boots are stiff but provide great ankle support. The boot is too bulky for riding but perfect for all day work on the ground. I will likely never use these boots in the climate they were designed for, but it is good to know they are more than capable of handling it. December 12, 2013
Comfortable I bought this for my husband and he loves it. Quality product! November 16, 2013
comfortable The most comfortable boots. Nice support, warm, and great for work. My second pair of Sorel brand boots. Would recommend them to everyone. November 13, 2013
16 years of abuse I bought these boots when I was living in Boston and started working construction as a surveyor. I wore these boots during four years of trekking around from job site to job site in the harsh New England winters, climbing on rebar and concrete. I wore them every day as my regular boots as well, hiking, hunting or just walking around town. From Boston, to New York and back to Ohio, for 16 years these boots took whatever I threw at them. Two years ago after a long day of pheasant hunting the sole finally failed and split.I never got cold feet standing for hours on freezing concrete or wet in the mud or water. For as much crouching and crawling around as I did as a surveyor I'm pleased that I did not split the sole sooner. I've never had a pair of boots last this long under this kind of use. Hated to see them go. You will definitely get your money's worth from these boots. November 8, 2013
Rugged Good Looks No not a review about me....I have more boots and shoes than I know what to do with. These are my winter trekking boots. I love to use them with snowshoes. One challenge, I have high arches, the gusset at the top is tight. I would have a hard time putting them on if I had 2 pairs of socks on, especially if it were cold out. I ended up buying a size 11 but I am normally a size 10. With normal sport socks the 10s feel quite amazing. I don't think I have ever had a winter boot on that felt so much like a hiker. Other challenge, I'm in Canada, I get mine from the US. Mine seem to have held up well, frankly, I don't see how others have been able to do the damage they have. I wear mine with crampons or snowshoes and then around camp all the time. I use them when I plow snow in the mornings too.I would recommend a half size or full size larger than your hiking shoes to accommodate the extra sock or VB layer you might be wearing. October 17, 2013
a woman in men's boots bought mine in 2004, after the last 2 winters they have holes in the soles and are falling apart, but still warmer and more comfy than any other boots i've tried. i looked at the womens boots and was not impressed. i have also tried on several pairs of womens boots and most of them are thin and flimsy, and my feet would be freezing. i will have a pair till they stop making them. September 11, 2013
40 below "0" boots in the desert Southwest I've been walking the desert southwest for 40 years. Boots have come and gone. Some last longer than others. Some are light: some are heavy. These are one of the best and most protective boots in the desert and mountains. Archaeologists like these boots. I'm an archaeologist. Connect the dots. Boot evolution. Happy feet. Wear them and smile. June 19, 2013
Something Bulging Through the Inside of Boot All in all I like the boots I received but the problem I have is that inside the boot just above my Achilles tendon there is something in side the boot (material bulging through the inside) that is rubbing pretty badly against that area and causing a great deal of discomfort. It is reasons like this why I hate ordering online products as you don't have a chance to see and feel how something fits "correctly". The style and most of the design of the boot is exactly what I needed for Colorado other than this particular discomfort. Haven't had time to contact Sorel and deal with this yet. I would normally recommend the boot but this one issue is rather difficult to deal with. May 9, 2013
Great boot Bought these after wearing out my old boots, these were super comfortable on the hike in, kept my feet warm and dry throughout the entire trip. May 8, 2013
Men's conquest boots The best boots money can buy!!!!owned my first pair for 9 years. "Built to last"!!! March 22, 2013
Mostly great until stitching went after 5 months I purchased these boots for rugged farm work which oftentimes requires working in soupy mud and/or below freezing, harsh conditions. The seal between the leather upper and the rubber sole (about three o'clock on the left boot, nine o'clock on the right boot from the toe) gave out barely five months into owning the boots, which had a solid three months' use. Hoping to get them repaired under warranty as they're less than a year old, but I simply cannot spare the boots for the four-week repair period. I wear plastic bags on my feet for now until the end of mud season. Stick to snow and non-mud if you want these to last. March 8, 2013
Thanks Again Second pair... Still awesome. I bought my first ones about ten years ago. In the second season i put my atv thru the ice. I spent all day walking in muck up to my waist. The boots held together for another eight years. The heel in the left one finally gave and started to cut my foot. I was really excited to see that they now make the boot in all black. I was sold instantly. As a guy who spends ninety percent of his time on the ice in winter, Massachusetts long winters, I have been very pleased. My feet only get cold when it is about midnight and we have not fired the heater in the shanty yet, ha, ha. Honestly, for the money you spend on these boots, you will be thoroughly impressed at the quality and comfort. I have walked righ up to the gusset in water and have never had wet feet, Maybe sweaty socks, but not wet feet. Thank you so much again Sorel. I hope to get twenty years out of these. Please dont ever stop making this boot. February 27, 2013
This product has great features I love these boots, i have since bought three pairs, one in a blk,one in a cinniman bark and one in a khaki color.I like that fact that these boots look rugged, aggressive and sofar , they seem to stand up to their name. They also look great especially with jeans ,they are just a great looking boot and they definitely keep you warm .I live in NYC and although we do get snow from time to time, still in all, it hasen't let me down and seems to be well made .I haven't really dogged it in a sense by wearing everyday during the winter, only when its bad outside and we get heavy snow.So i guess that being said, i'm sure that they will last a whole lot longer , especially if you take good care of them. Also, these boots tend to run about a 1/2 size small from your true size. I suggest that you get either get a 1/2 to 1 full size larger than your true size depending on your foot size / width when ordering. I wear an 8 in US size so i bought a 8.5 .Last, i use to wear timberlands, but ever since these came out and i happen to come across these boots, i tend to like them more than the timberlands and am a happy camper.. February 25, 2013
Great Pair of Boots These boots fit well, are warm and the sole provides great traction. I highly recommend them. February 19, 2013
Only boot you'll ever need Going on 7 years & they're in great shape. Best boot/$ available. Avid skier, outdoors a lot. Always warm, dry & extremely comfy. By far the best winter boots I've ever owned. If you want 1 boot for any winter condition imaginable this is the boot. February 16, 2013
Not sure of durability I bought a pair over a year ago awaiting an ice fishing trip this last week, that was on my bucket list to do. I wore them 1 day, and the outside seam along the rubber bottom and the leather split about 2" long; the threading actually pulled through the rubber. the boot felt good, not tight, I only walked about 100 yards round trip, and they just ripped. I was walking on packed ice with about 4-5 inches of light snow...so I am not sure about the durability of the leather and th rubber. I love the boot, the looks, the feel, the fit, but man the rip just made me look like a fool after bragging about the nice new boots that I had and were proud of. I was actually laughed at, and the ice trip I planned for two years, was ended before it could actually start. February 12, 2013
Great boots Working at a ski resort these are great to have around for working out side or going from building to building when we have new snow. They fit great and are warm even when it -18 out. February 3, 2013
Great boots Great boot, great price. I work in tough conditions, boots lasted three years. Feet never cold, never wet... January 28, 2013
Nice boot. Not too heavy Boot fit nicely. Very warm. I usually have a tough time with breaking in new footwear, but no trouble with this boot. Wore a couple times around the house, then a 2 mile road walk, the a 4 mile trail hike, no problems. Great product. January 23, 2013
warm, comfortable from the first wear Just bought them 2 weeks ago but the boots fit great from the first time I put them on. Very warm and felt great even after being on my feet for a long time. We will see if they stand the test of time... January 20, 2013
Most comfortable boots I own. These boots are great for snow removal jobs or anything where you'll be standing in snow for long periods of time. January 3, 2013
EXCELLENT SNOW BOOT A LITTLE TOUGH ON THE ANKLE BONE DURING THE BREAK-IN, BUT THAT WENT AWAY QUICKLY. I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THIS WINTER BOOT. WORKS GREAT SNOW SHOEING.. January 2, 2013
Men's Conquest Boot is awesome! Love them. They exceeded my expectations! December 27, 2012
Poor Design The boots at first seemed to fill the bill as far as snowshoeing and trekking around the Rocky Mountains. This season I put them on for the first time and the leather separated from the rubber lower and the rubber base cracked and disintegrated. These boots were not exposed to any adverse temperatures other than normal winter temperatures and in the off season were stored in air conditioned spaces. I can only conclude that the rubber base above the sole is made of poor quality materials. These boots were only 5 years old. I would suggest that the boot is redesigned or a new manufacturing vendor is found. December 27, 2012
OUTSTANDING!!!!!! I bought my first pair of these approx 10 years ago, aqnd still have them as 'backup' boots. The rubber has separated a bit at the back of the heel, but other than that, 10 years of HARD wearing. I work outside for a living, and these rubber bottomed boots as a must for a guy like me on my feet 10 to 12 hours a day in all weather. I've also used them in upper Maine on hunting trips. And in North Conway snowmobiling. And a few Patriots snowy games. I wore only heavy weight tube socks with them. Let me tell you, i NEVER had cold feet! The part I like the best about these boots is that they look like regular work boots. I've tried some other types of these boots, but they were way to cumbersome. And getting in and out of the truck, then trying to drive with clown feet! well none of them worked. These are by far the best fitting, warmest, true to size, winter boots I own. And trust me I know boots. I'm a devote Redwing, Chippawa, boot guy, and don't mind one bit paying in excess of $300 a pair. So these Sorel's at $145 are a great deal. After your done reading this, BUY THEM! December 12, 2012
My new Conquest Boots I ordered these boots online and recieved them in the mail not long after. Packaging was good, quality was nice and they looked just like they did in the photos. Sadly it hasnt gotten cold enough to try them out well but I have put them on in 30-40 degree weather and I must say I can tell they are made to be warm, almost too warm at those temps! Im hoping for some snow now so I can put them through their paces. December 6, 2012
Out of the box they worked I picked my boots this morning and wore them and so far after testing them pushing one car out of the snow and wandering around in the snow Iam impressed, for start fit just right. As a photographer here in Alaska was searching for a boot to carry along while traveling for the just incase scenorio and well didnt take long for them to prove them worthy. The idea was to buy a ligthweight boot into the backcountry and wear after a day Backcountry skiing, Ihave plenty of winter boots for all conditions well just might have found the right product. After 12 hours of use I am here to admit the product is just what I am looking for, I run a photo guide company here in Alaska while looking for a boot to buy quite a few pairs for at a good price think I just may have found the right product with out thinking.Time will tell but for the right out of the box test more than met my expectaion, time will tell as for now I am pretty impressed.I work in some of the most adverse condition in the north just looking at the value even if the boot is destroyed by a customer it will have paid for it self. The price reflects the products origin and a sign of the times, wish I could say it was produced by a North Amercian company but it is what it is. November 21, 2012
Nice boot! Nice boot. Lightweight, durable, comfy/nice padding, true to size. I havent used them in the snow yet, so i cannot comment on warmth and waterproofing. They are a little pricey, i figured being that these are imported they would of been cheaper. They seem pretty decent. Lets hope the rubber doesnt seperate.Would of given "5 STARS" if boots were manufactured in the U.S.A November 16, 2012
best ever These are the first snow boots I've ever owned, and the last. I live in a mountain community in Colorado. I work outside for the most part and these boots have never failed me. From construction work to snowshoeing, they never stop. My currrent pair is 6 years old and they still perform as flawlessly today as they did out of the box. I recomend thes boots to anyone who has to spend any time on your feet in harsh enviroments. Dry + Warm = Happy November 10, 2012
Awesome Thes boots are everything and more. I cannot explain to you how warm your feet will stay along with the comfort. It is like not wearing boots at all. October 18, 2012
Awsome Boots I highly recommend these boots. Very warm and comfortable. Ice fishing and my toes are very toasty. I put them on and a bit stiff for a day or two, but then like putting on slippers. Love love love them January 31, 2012
Great fitting and supportive! This is actually my second pair of these boots. The first pair is almost 7 years old but are still in very useable condition, my only reason for getting a new set is to have "fresh" boots with my "fresh" riding gear! I primarily use these for snowmachining up here in Alaska and have worn them in temps ranging from +50*F to -30*F and have never once had a problem with my feet getting cold OR wet. I highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for the most comfortable, best fitting, and most durable boots available! January 30, 2012
Yes, this product has great features There are three major reasons why I would recomend these boots.Price, Comfortability and Safety. The boots are not that expensive, it worth the price. The comfortability is awesome.A. they are not heavy, thats is very important when you need to walk.B. the inside is well done to keep the comfort of your feet.C they're wateproof, and they look like regular boots. I take them almost every where, and people don't notice that those are winter boots. I love them. And of course, Safety is very important. I feel safe when I wear my Sorel boots. January 5, 2012
comfort This is my second pair of Conquests and when these wear out in 10(?) years I will buy another pair. Most comfortable and warm winter boots. Great for work (I work at a ski area) and snow shoeing and just about anything. Great fit. January 2, 2012
Perfect! I purchased these boots for my husband. He loves them and the fit is perfect! Great quality and look great on. December 31, 2011
Love these boots This is my first pair of Sorels, and I love them! Right out of the box they were very comfortable, AND THEY ARE WARM. For a winter boot I would not consider another brand of boot. The sizing allows for extra thick socks to be worn, if desired. Sorry I didn't purchase Sorels before now! December 16, 2011
