Reviews

Women's Caribou® Boot is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 451.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Winter/Snow Boot! I bought these boots for a glacier excursion and also overall winter/snow boots for some outdoor activities. I'd say they fit slightly large, but I want some extra room in winter boots for thick socks. I did 2 layers of socks and it worked perfect. These are definitely significant, heavy boots so walking up a bunch of stairs, you'll feel that extra weight on your feet. I almost dropped my review to 4 stars because of the weight, but I think to get this amount of warmth and protection from the snow, you can't cut down on the boots. Basically, if you don't truly need a snow boot for really cold or extended outside conditions, maybe this isn't the boot for you. I wouldn't wear these casually around town or driving. I wore them out on a glacier during rainy, windy conditions and my feet stayed dry and warm. I have somewhat wide feet and have foot issues, but was totally comfortable in these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Caribou boots I was very disappointed that I was unable to use the pair of Caribou boots that I had ordered & received late last year. I saw that my left foot had been prevented to begin to squeeze into the left boot, I think because of that boot's tongue being stuck together so securely with glue (?) by nearly a length of two inches, to one side of that inner boot or its lining. I don't recall which one, at this time when I am writing these words, now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Boots!! Purchased these boots for a ski trip to Big Sky, Montana. Great boot inside and out. I normally wear an 8, but purchased the 7 1/2. Fits perfect with think wool socks. Highly recommend and love the look of these boots as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT purchase SO I first bought the Womens Joan of Artic book and they were wayyyyyy to heavy/big/bulky for me. I was very pleased when I received this pair. VERY VERY comfortable and cute! Would definitely recommend this boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Rain/Snow Boot Snow Boot is warm, durable and comfortable. Runs large and wide. Boot is sitting on a 1/2 inch platform and very stable footing. Ankle to calf is leather upper, has a removable lining with warm wool faux cuff. Purchased one pair for me and one for my daughter who loves hers also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm & Stylish but Clunky I like the look and they're warm, but they're clunky. It was hard to walk our normal 1 mile evening walk because I felt like the laces were too thin to tie up tightly enough. Too tight and it cut off circulation, but too loose and my foot slipped. Maybe they just need to be broken in... Definitely awkward to walk in though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heavy and bulky This boot runs big. I ordered a full size down and it fits okay but not very comfortable. The boot is extremely bulky and heavy. When I opened the box I was sure these were men's and a mistake had been made. Sorel also doesn't offer free returns and because they are so heavy it would have been about $30 to send back. Luckily if you have a Columbia store nearby you can return in store but be sure to have all original shipping labels because it's kind of a big deal if you only have the emails. Overall I don't recommend these boots or service experience. For reference I usually wear a 7.5 and ordered a 6.5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Institutional User I have about 50 pair of them and use them for snowshoeing trips. Warm, comfortable, easy to get on and off, and very, very durable. I've had other boots, but none hold up like the Caribou. I don't use them to drive. They're too big for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boots to go! I have always loved Sorel's. They are made to be able to get out there in the worst weather. I could have used a half size large to accommodate thicker socks. But don't be mistaken the size was true to my foot size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them I bought these two years ago and I wore the heck out of them. Ordering them again because they got stolen out of my truck. Perfect if you're outdoorsy-- ice fishing, snow shoeing, perfect for before and after skiing because they come on and off easy, hold their shape, and still cute! Other reviews are saying they are too bulky and I agree they are bulky if you are looking for something lighter but if you need something that will make your feet nice and toasty during snow activities, they are worth the money x10! I'm usually a 7.5 and fit in a 7 with normal snow socks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best snow booots ever! I have owned a pair of caribou boots for several years and am ordering another pair since my basset hounds seems to love them as much as I do! They do run large and they have a very roomy toe but that allows for lots of toe movement and circulation. I also find that they are really easy to slip in and out of and sometimes I wear them without any socks because they are amazingly warm! They are quite heavy and can feel clunky initially but they are so sturdy and warm and have the best traction. I like the classic styling and the clunkiness adds to the feeling of "this is a serious winter boot". I can walk all day in them too! Very comfortable. I live on the North Shore of MA where we get quite of bit of snow as well as 20-30 degree temps often. I normally take a size 8 1/2 to 9 in a boot and these fit me well at a size 8 with plenty of toe wiggle room.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loose and large! These boots are only suitable for some one with extra wide feet, big chubby ankles and extremely thick calves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should be named "Winter Tank" Boots! I had to return these because they were too big- not that they weren't true to size, but they were literally WAY too "much" of a winter boot. I felt I was walking around with small YETIs on my feet. I think in you live in Fargo or Alaska, these are the boots for you! They are 1/4" wool lined! If you're looking for a cute winter boot that is lighter but warm, SOREL has this same "look" but slightly less bulk in other models. I ended up purchasing the Women's Winter Fancy Lace II boots and I LOVE them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too big I love this boot but it is a size to large. I usually take a women's size 9 and I should of ordered a size 8. I can deal with it because I put on a heavier sock than I would like but other than that they are wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, sturdy, runs big Love this boot. Hiking, snowshoeing it's perfect, and excellent traction (recent ice Storm proved that). I should have bought a half size down though, this is big even with thick socks. Overall this is a perfect boot. Lining very nice too. Hits well in mid calf for tucking in or leaving pants out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Caribou boot I am so disappointed with these boots. They protect against cold weather and snow, but they are way too big and way too bulky. I hate wearing them because it feels like my feet are going to slide right out of them. I would have exchanged them if I knew return was within 60 days. They are huge and very uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these boots!!! I bought these boots for going ice fishing because my other boots wouldn't keep my feet warm and I absolutely love them. My feet never get cold in these with a pair of wool socks. I can be outside in cold temperatures fishing without my feet freezing. The only thing I would recommend is going a half size down with your shoe size. I usually wear a size 9, and I bought a size 8.5 and they fit perfectly. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who has to be outside for a long time in these cold temperatures!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cracks in rubber I had these boots for two winter seasons and cracks developed in the rubber causing it to open up. For price, these boots should last longer. While they lasted they were great, just expected more than two winter seasons of wear out of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these boots! I purchased these boots after debating between the Tofino and Caribou and finally decided on the Caribou as it was rated for colder weather. I wear a size 10 and ordered that size as I like to wear thicker socks and couldn't be happier. These were comfortable from the minute I slid my foot in and my toes were toasty, too! We have been experiencing an unusually cold winter and these are functional, cute and warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking shoes I was excited to received my new Sorel boots, but I was disappointed when I tried them on. The boot is large. It looks like clown shoes. I am usually a 8 . After reading the reviews decided to order 7.5 . Even with a smaller size they were big. Sad to return them and afraid to exchange since there is no free shipping and sizes are not to true size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best choice If you are going to be anywhere snowy and cold - you need these. If it's 20 below, your feet will always be toasty, even if the rest of your body is freezing. Say goodbye to cold feet. Be forewarned however that these boots are huge and bulky - when I first took them out of the box I was a little taken aback and they seemed like too much. But, as soon as I stepped outside somewhere snowy I fell in love. These are definitely heavy duty clunky snow boots but they are surprisingly comfy and cute. I bought a pair of Tofinos for commuting to work and running around the city in cold weather but my Caribous are the go to when I'm heading to the mountains. You won't find a better snow boot. Note that they do run big. I went down a half size from my street shoe size (and I always am wearing heavy socks too).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snow Plow on my feet I wear a size 7 in Sorel products I ordered the 7.5 because I wanted to wear them with thick socks. The main issue with this boot is that they are bulky; however, they are amazing to walk in the snow. While others are slipping and sliding I am soldiering on. The boot itself has a wide toe box; as a result, a person's feet will look larger than they are. Remember ladies' we are not buying these to wear at Fashion Week in NYC. They are functional and warm. One last thing they work best when the user wears wool blended socks/moisture wicking socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These boots were made for walking (through snow) These shoes allow me to walk through the NYC slush with confidence. I normally wear a size 6.5 but they were a little large so I exchanged for a size 6 and they fit perfectly. I can wear a thick sock with a little room in the boot and my feet stayed warm and toasty. They are a little bulky but that is to be expected and worth it when you're walking through the snow without getting your feet wet/cold (and look good doing it). These were exactly what I was looking for and I look forward to wearing these all winter long.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from so so I got these boots in black for a trip to canada. They look wonderful and definitely keep your feet warm and dry. However they are on the heavy side and for some reason or another it threw off my stride In my right side and after a couple day it was almost impossible for me to walk in them from the pain in my groin area.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not keep feet warm I purchased these boots believing they would kept me feet warm. But after playing in the snow for about two hours my feet was freezing. I live in North Carolina so you know our weather does not get real low. Very disappointed in these boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do your research These boots are very heavy duty! They run about a size big and due to the weight, they cost about $25 to ship back, so make sure you do your research first!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surviving the Cold Chicago Winters I bought these because I moved into the city and now walk everywhere I go. If you have ever lived in a wintry city, you know when it snows not everyone shovels. So you are stuck trucking through blocks of snow. In these boots my feet feel as warm as they do at home!!! Yes, they make me feel like I have an elephant's foot, but when the temps are cold it is not about fashion. Even still, I love the tan swayed and the fluff at the top. Oh, and I would recommending going a size up. I am usually anywhere between 7.5-8 and I went with an 8. Fits like a charm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, as pictured, pretty clunky These boots look nice. I ordered a 9.5 (I usually am 9.5/10) but people said they ran a little big. However, mine were slightly snug for a 9.5. I thought they were just too clunky/heavy for lighter winters in Portland and for occasional trips to the mountain. I am returning these. They are DEFINITELY heavy duty. Maybe they'd be better for someone in Idaho, Minnesota or Wisconsin with heavier winters. I ended up ordering and sticking with a pair of the 1964 boots. LOVE those.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "So So Sad" First let me just say I LOVE the Sorel Boots this is my second pair the first pair i had lasted for years, so when i saw the Caribou boots i fell in love with these boots, so after reading the reviews i order a half size down, I wear a 10 in boots so i order a 91/2 so when i got them they were so big, but i have to say they were so soft and comfortable and yet not to heavy, but anyway i am going to send them back and get a smaller size i will let you know what happens next.... to be continued

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps Toes Toasty This is my second pair of Sorel winter boots First I love that they fit my feet. I have had a bunion for years. It's a nightmare buying any type of footwear. I can wear your boots for hours without any pain and discomfort! Second - they keep my toes and entire foot warm and dry the entire time I am outside. We've had over 15 in of snow this year. My socks stay dry whether I'm out walking or using the snow blower. I do wish they had a pair of clasp at the top to help tighten like my last pair. It does take a little bit to get use to their weight. But I keep the weight of the boots for the excellent traction, warmth and dry socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Winter Boots ever! I love these boots. They have a thick wool lining. They are stable on both ice and snow, good to 40 degrees below. Your feet will never be cold in these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable These are true to size and very warm. We just had a big snow storm in MI and I was happy to have these. I used them while shoveling almost a foot of snow and they kept my feet dry and warm.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't last a month. Wow. I would have loved my Sorels to have lasted a couple of years. Mine split at the heel after only a few weeks. Store replaced them, but same thing again. This time Sorel replaced then with a differnt style. (Caribous) This pair lasted a little over a month befoe developing cracks along the side at the small toe area. Back the boots went again and were replaced. By this time it was almost Spring. This winter I hauled out the practically new FOURTH pair of Sorels and after a couple of weeks - you guessed it - toe cracks again. I should add I am not hard on boots. I'm a senior and only wear them when walking the dog in the park. My $24. no name boots lasted five years, and the rubber was still fine - just wore out the felt liners. SoI I have to say Sorel has good customer service, but that doesn't mean anything when the product consistently falls apart.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from These are gigantic! I'm not sure if the size was marked wrong, but I ordered a women's 8 and they are GIGANTIC! They seem like a men's 8 but the receipt and box say women's. They are great quality and seem warm and durable, however, I will be exchanging them for a sleeker, less heavy boot and hopefully it will be true to size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, heavy boot. Runs very big These are a good boot for snow, cold temperatures. They are a very heavy duty boot. They also run VERY large. I ordered my normal size 7.5 thinking that they may even be small when wearing a thick sock... in fact they were huge even with a thick sock. I would order 0.5-1 size down from what you normally wear
Date published: 2016-12-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product My Sorel's fit true to size, they were warm but a lil heavy(in which I already knew before purchasing them). We only got a few inches of snow here in NY today but I just had to put them on. I just love them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but huge! The good thing about these boots is, they are huge! When I wear this I am fearless in the snow. The downside about these boots is still, they are huge....and heavy, I keep another pair of sneaker in my car because I feel I won't be able to control the pedals with those boots. I would recommend these if you are going to walk outdoor when it's snow & after snow

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome snow boot but... So these are great boots, for the snow & keep your feet warm. They are definitely a clunky boot made for a lot of snow so,if you're looking for something more stylish for light snow I would go with a different Sorel boot. The sizing is off in this boot. I usually wear a size 7 in almost every shoe or boot but the 7 in these was HUGE. I ordered down a full size and they were too small. I could get my foot in the boot but my toes were squished against the front and getting the boot off was a nightmare. Ultimately I ended up getting a 6.5. The boots are still a bit roomy and I can wear very thick socks. At first I felt unsure keeping these but now in the Maine winter and with negative temperatures I've fallen in love with them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend I ordered these after reading other reviews. Normally wear size 7.5 but ordered 6.5 and they fit well with socks. I wore these on a frigid, wet day and my feet stayed dry and very warm. They seem bulky when you put them on but they are easy to walk in and easily adjust to. I love them think they are great value.
Date published: 2016-12-16
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boot, but maybe go a 1/2 size down After much research, I purchased this boot because it had great reviews for its cold weather capabilities, being both waterproof and able to keep your feet warm in cold temps. So far, I am very happy with these features. I live in the mountains of Colorado and we get a lot of snow and can definitely get cold temperatures. There's been a spell this December where our temperature stayed within the single digits and my feet (even when outside shoveling) were nice and toasty in these boots day in and day out. They're very comfortable, although a bit clunky. But that is what I expected from the reviews - these aren't dainty little boots. They're big snow boots to keep your feet warm and dry. I think they still have a cute style as far as snow boots go, but they are definitely on the heftier side. My only complaint would be that I think they do run large (if it wasn't for that, this would be a 5 start review). I am usually between a 7-7.5 and saw on the previous reviews that they run big, so opted for the 7 for that reason. Even with the 7, they still seem too large for me. That really surprised me because I NEVER am a 6.5 shoe size. With this shoe I probably could've gotten away with a 6.5. And I even had my husband measure out my foot like Sorel recommended to make sure I purchased the right size since so many people seemed to have sizing issues with this shoe. It still wasn't accurate. Sorel needs to reevaluate their sizing of this boot, in my opinion. The 7 is too large in length and in width for me. I wasn't sure at first and thought maybe I just didn't have my thicker winter socks on, but after taking the boots out on walks and shoveling, I'm realizing (too late :( to exchange) that I would have been better off with a 6.5. Overall, great boot, well made, lives up to what it promises with warmth and water proof, good sole with nice traction. Only issue is the sizing. If Sorel fixes that problem, they'd be the perfect winter boot!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These boots are GIGANTIC My feet measure 26cm, which according to the size guide and the fact that reviewers rated these boots "true to size", means I should have ordered a size 9. I decided to order a size 8.5, since some reviews suggested going down a half size. There is at least an inch between my toes and the end of the boot, even with heavy wool socks on. They are extremely wide, and there is a lot of room between the top of my foot and the boot. They look like they're designed for men. Customer service suggested I order a size 7 (two whole sizes down from my measured size), but I'm not willing to risk the cost of return shipping again. I don't even think a smaller size would fix the sizing issues with these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Boots Ever! These boots are amazing. I've lived in Chicago my whole life and so far these are the only ones that can handle our winters. They are super warm and the bottoms of the boots are like cleats. Today I had to walk over several blocks of thick ice to get to work and didn't slip once. They are a bit clunky and definitely do run big (I usually get an 8.5 for boots but got these in an 8 and they are still very roomy) so don't size up. I wish they had the alternate lining in stock that doesn't have the fur on it because I'm not a fan of the fur but they are otherwise amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The reviews were right....TOO BIG When I was researching these boots it seemed like half of the reviews said they were true to size and half said they were too large. I even used Sorel’s measuring instructions which told me to order a size 8…which is my regular size. Well….these are WAY too big. I’m super bummed. They are chunky boots as it is, and I look like a clown since they are too big. Also, it doesn’t matter if you wear thick socks, because your feet go in the insert, not the actual boot. I gave them 4 stars because I love everything else about them. My advice is to size down.
