Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Coat Ever I am from Alabama and as you are aware we are not used to extreme weather. We had some days being in the teens and at the onset of that I took to looking for a warm coat!!!! I found this coat and I am truly in love with it. It fits perfect and is so warm. I did order up a size for all the underneath layers!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super warm. Great quality. Tricky zipper? This jacket has made me the warmest I have ever been in my entire life. I was visiting Buffalo with -20°F and worse wind chills and then New England had a cold snap for a few weeks where the temp was below zero consistently for a few weeks and this coat was so warm. The material and construction is good quality. It’s not a fitted jacket but for a parka it’s not unreasonably puffy or unwieldy either. The pockets are fleece lined which is a dream. The hood is also substantial which is great. I find a lot of coats have hoods that don’t actually cover your full head. The faux fur trim can also be retracted or extended a bit for an extra inch or two of coverage. The double zipper is a bit tricky. I sort of need to invert the bottom end of the coat so that I can zip downwards and this is the only way I can get the zipper to zip consistently without getting frustrated. I’m not sure if it’s just because the zipper is a bulky plastic double zipper, it’s just the coat, or it’s just me. Regardless it’s worth it for the warmth. The jacket runs a bit large. I am 5’5” 120lbs and ordered a medium. I could have gone down to a small and still had ample room to spare for sweaters underneath.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Downgraded quality Compared to the reviews of the previous version of this parka and also another Sorel parka that I own, they really cheaped out on this new version! And to add insult to injury, are still pricing it the same!I also have a Sorel caribou parka from last years stock, and even though both have the same down fill power level, side by side, there is no comparison! This parka has WAY less down fill throughout the whole construction in comparison! And I mean like probably 2/3 less! That's a lot! I live in an area where temperatures can reach -35 and I need a warm parka! where you don't even feel that -30 with the older caribou parka with the SAME down fill power..... this one, I can feel cold air on my arms in +2 temperatures today! Also where they removed the cinch waist tabs, without even a hidden synch cord inside, cold air easily floats up the jacket! There is a hidden sinch cord on the very bottom but that one is useless as the front of the bottom has a nice gap in the front bottom construction for movement, so you can't actually synch the jacket more closer there anyways! The faux fur ruff... looks worse than faux fur on Walmart items! It actually looks hideous.. like you couldn't keep that Horriblr piece on your parka and actually feel good about wearing that! The hardware and zippers have also been heavily downgraded and cheaped out on! As a owner of Sorel items for all of my 34 years... this parka is so very disappointing especially considering how amazing it was before! Bring back the good quality details...cynch fit option, the nice heavy duty metal zipper and leather hardware, the genuine fur ruff for warmth, and definitely stop skimping out on the "down fill" Sorel!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally the perfect coat! This winter I’ve returned three other coats for size or other reasons, and absolutely love his one! It is flattering, even on an older, overweight figure, which is not easy to do. I’m 5’3” and weigh 160 at 68 years. Ego remains no matter how old we get. Great and very warm coat for arthritic (rheumatoid arthritus) body.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Talk about WARM! My husband and I just moved to Idaho from warm, sunny Southern California. I needed a warm coat because I've been freezing in my previous jacket. This coat is definitely designed for warmth. The design and "construction" of the coat are excellent. You can tell by examining the seams that it is well-made and worth the extra money. However, my ONE complaint is the sizing...I ordered an XL because I wear a size 14 dress. It fits snug and I wouldn't be able to wear a thick sweater underneath. I wouldn't need to, for warmth, but if I was wearing anything thick, the coat would be way too snug. I'm still keeping it and will just have to lose a few pounds! In the meantime, I'm sure warm and I really do like the coat.
