How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Women’s Joan Of Arctic™ Knit II Boot is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good I have only had the chance to wear these in deep snow once going Christmas tree hunting, and they seemed to do just fine! My feet are always cold no matter how many socks I'm wearing, and no matter what shoes. My feet were cold in these, too, but if you have normal feet that produce their own heat, I'm sure they would keep your feet warm. Sizing: I usually wear a size 7, so I got a 7.5 because the reviews said they run small and I figured I could just wear extra socks if it ended up true to size. It seems true to size to me; the 7.5 is a bit big for my feet, but with an extra pair of socks, they fit just fine. The back of the ankle is a little stiff which is mildly uncomfortable while driving and running in them, but no big deal. The little buttons that hold the insole in pop open often and aren't very secure, but that really doesn't cause any problems. Just annoying because I want them to stay buttoned. Complaint: There's no loopy thing to put your finger in to pull the boots on, so when I put them on, I have to unlace them really loosely to get my foot in which is actually pretty annoying. (If the aforementioned buttons were more secure, you could potentially use those loops to pull the boots on, but no such luck.) Good boots so far, and I'll update if I find them less satisfactory upon further wear.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Runs very small and feels cheap for the price.. I previously owned a pair of Sorel boots that I loved however after 5 years needed a new pair. My previous pair was a size ten but after reading reviews that said they run small I ordered a size 11. After loving my previous Sorels for so long I was excited to get these.. unfortunately upon opening them not only did the fabric appear cheap and the stitching was poor on the fabric portion but also the size 11 was actually smaller than my size 10 pair I could hardly get my foot in first because of the extremely tight ankle area and the once on they were tight everywhere, foot ankle and calves... I could hardly even tie them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth These boots first of all are so cute. They are incrediably warm so I can't wait till we get more snow to really put them to the test. The fit is pretty perfect and I wear a size 11. The boot is pretty tight especially the back of the ankle, but with wear I notice it's getting more flexibility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made the mistake of ignoring other reviews! I am always t2s... At 9.5. Desite all the previous reviews to go up a size, I ordered a 9.5. And guess what? It was too small! Exchanging was easy and 10 Fit perfect! I love this boot... So youthful and sturdy! Can't wait to tromp around in heavy snow in these! Would buy again! And lesson learned... Will always pay attention to reviews!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the boots but haven't tested them I love the look and feel of these boots. They're stylish and fairly streamlined for the typical "clunky winter boot" category in which I place Sorels that are specifically made for "heavy snow". For me, they fit true to the size 9 that I am. By this I mean that they have enough room for a thicker sock but are not so spacious as to make wearing a thin sock uncomfortable. I own another pair of Sorels made in a similar fashion from the 2013 collection and in the short time I've owned this new pair, I have decided that it's definitely time to donate the old. They are clearly already more comfortable, warm, stylish, and more true to fit than my old ones that are rated to the same temp and are supposedly the same size. I will say that I have not officially tried them in the snow as of this time, but the improvement and quality are apparent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Saving them for next winter From Chicago, I purchased these because they are stylish and very feminine. I won't be able to wear them until next winter because the weather is great right now. I know they'll be worth it though. Also got a great deal on them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm & Waterproof I wish I purchased these boots a long time ago! They are warm, waterproof, and in my opinion, very cute!! They are easy to put on and I recommend that you wear a thick sock with them. Definitely a must if you live in a state with cold winters!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Quality, Bad fit The quality of these boot are great! I love they don't have fur lining! Good for big calves. I wish I heeded the warning of the other reviewers and bought the next size up. I usually wear the smaller side of 9.5 closer to a 9 usually. I thought there wouldn't be a fit issue as all their other boots I've purchased were true to size. They didn't look too small because they boots themselves are massive! I had to wear them a few times to realize they were in fact too small, so now I can't return them which is a bummer. I am hoping they will wear in and be more comfortable. The issue with the sizing is the calf of the boot pushes your foot forward in the shoe due to the curve of the calf of the boot. So when first trying them on they seem to fit, but toes knock against the front of the toe box when walking and your heel doesn't touch the back of the shoe because it's pushed so far forward. The curve in the calf of the boot also makes the calf dig into the tops of my heels/bottoms of my calves when I'm walking and doesn't allow for full range of movement. The calf of the boot folds in on itself a bit creating a ridge to rub your skin off, pushing your foot forward. Great boots if you don't mind having GINORMOUS feet. GO UP ONE SIZE!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boots I've been looking for a pair of Sorel for quite a while. I was glad to pick these up. They're super warm and fit well. I've received many compliments. They're appropriate for the snow storms we've had here in the New England area. Totally recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excited to order I was so excited to order these boots as my friend raved about hers. They shipped quickly and are good quality. However I have to return them as the fit is not what i expected and they are very awkward and uncomfortable i even ordered a size up !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did not keep my feet warm I bought these & was super excited to get them. They are very cute, and did keep my feed dry. But I was recently up in Mammoth where it was 34degrees fahrenheit. My feet were cold. Like really cold. I had on really nice warm socks that keep my feet warm in other boots. I would actually return these if I was able to.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shoud have listened to the reviews. They fit was very tight. There was a crack in the rubber, but for me to send them back was an additional $23.00 and the nearest store is an hour away. So disappointed. I don't know if will buy another pair. This was my second pair of sorels and the first pair were big but with big socks they would fit well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits small, but really cute. I had a pair of the WOMEN'S JOAN OF ARCTIC™ BOOT and I got them in an 11 and they were too big. So when I ordered the WOMEN’S JOAN OF ARCTIC™ KNIT II BOOT I was going to get a 10. However, after reading the reviews, I decided to get an 11 again and I'm glad I did. I had trouble getting my heel down in the boot. These are cut way smaller and are very slim. Also, the insert in the boot rubs above the heel and if I would have worn them too long I'm sure I would have had a blister. I have had the same issue with the width in the slimpack boot. I do not have a wide foot, but I have so much trouble getting into some of these boots. If they weren't so darn cute, I would not purchase. I'll deal with having some difficulty getting my foot in. I just wish Sorel would try to fix this issue. I know of other people that have the same issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid winter boot Just got my boots and they are great. They are heavy winter boots, if you want something to run around town in, not the boots for you. However, they are cute (love the bright pink) warm and look fun with jeans. I also purchased the foe fur liners so I can switch them up if I want to

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Joan of Artic Original Review Several years ago when the original Joan of Artic boot was released. I fell in love with it instantly and my brother bought them for me for Christmas in a very specific color. I've had the boots about 5 or so years. I only wear them in heavy north west snow. One flaw in quality that I found them to be worth less than I paid, is the faux fur. I understand the qualms with real fur as a selling point of a product. However I think the price I paid meritted real fur. Secondly I had assumed they would last a great while. Although I made a mistake of never spraying waterproofing spray on them[suade] I had assumed the term waterproof didn't merit to protect the leather so the leather got very dirty. I replaced the faux fur with real fur and was very satisfied with my purchase. However since day one my feet were never warm enough not sure if that is to blame on socks. So this winter I was trapping in around one foot of snow and ice and my feet were colder then ever. It was 9 degrees. Then I in fact noticed my feet were wet. I had suspected that they had been leaking this year so when I got home my custom liner was in fact wet. I wrestled with the idea of repairing and professionally repaired them and my parents sold me to buy a new pair. To which I have decided I want the pair shown above. I am just curious if my particular boot was detected or I somehow wore them out and they just got old. To sum it up I was disappointed with the price I paid because I'm now replacing them. However I receive compliments every time I wear them and I am 100% satisfied with their design. There for I will assume this pair is a higher quality. I believe the leak was due to normal wear and tear. However like I said since day one my feet were not warm and I didn't want to wear my snowboarding socks with them so I wore thin socks. My only question is will my liner fit in these? I could not locate the pair I have now for sale any where. So should I also buy/make a new liner? Last thing; I have no record of the purchase price or date because my brother bought them when he was living in Japan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adorable and warm I've worn these once thus far. On my right calf they did rub slightly, so I would recommend short distance walking to break them in initially. They kept my feet very toasty and look adorable on. They are pretty heavy boots and gave me a good workout on stairs. Purchased half size larger and very glad I did. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too WIDE for narrow feet I was so excited to get these boots as it was going to be my first pair of Sorel's but when I got these.... They were so wide and I have very skinny feet, but this were so wide when I walked in them, one boot hit the other boot, and there was no way I could keep them. Before ordering really think about this, returned them immediately and paid 18 dollars just to ship them back

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for blizzards I'm petite and went up half a size according to the other reviews. I definitely recommend because it is snug. They are extremely comfortable and for me worked great with how high the snow got this year thanks to the blizzard. Definitely recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best beer dabbler boots. I was a bit wary because it says "fits slightly small". I ordered my regular size and they fit just fine. Even with large socks. These are quality boots so they take some breaking in. They are a bit stiff at first. But you will get used to walking in them and they will get used to you. Your feet will not get wet and they shouldn't get cold so long as you are wearing the appropriate gear for the weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot! I am one of those people that realizes they don't have appropriate boots for a blizzard during the actual storm event and shops the "Blizzard Sales". After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase a full size up from what I normally wear and I am glad I did!!! They fit perfectly. I purchased the Elk color combo. I tend to shy away from styles with a lot of fluff or fur. These boots are warm, water proof, comfortable AND stylish yet basic. Plus, I got them on sale! I would highly recommend sizing up and grabbing these boots while you still can.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from go to the store instead I ordered an 1/2 size bigger just in case the size chart was a little off, this was my first time buying through Sorel and it was a fail. my foot only reached the ankle part of the boot so disappointing, i have been eyeing these boots since they came out. i had to return then. I would recommend to go out to the store or a retailer who sells them and try them on before you make any online purchase. I have never see a size chart so off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I wanted to love these I really wanted to live these and did a ton of reaserch on winter boots! When I got them I was surprised with how nice they looked but when I put them on and walked outside I was amazed with how uncomfortable they were. They don't bend in the back making it almost impossible to do anything in. Unfortunately I would not recommend these if your looking for a comfortable winter boot!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Super cute, killer in the heel though. These boots are super cute, bright pink & gray color, but after having them on for 2 mins my heel was killing me, just standing the boot bends & digs into your heel leaving it sore & red. Returning b/c they are not comfortable. =(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boots! I just received these boots yesterday and I already love them! I wanted to clear up some questions I had based on the other reviews. Yes the laces are hot pink, and I'll be replacing them with grey laces, but for the time being they're fine. If you measure your foot as the website instructs, you will get the correct size boot! Don't just guess, people! I normally wear an 8, but I measured my foot and checked Sorel's chart and found that I should order an 8.5 and they fit perfectly! I think the reviewers mentioning painful rubbing in the Achilles heel area ordered boots too small. My boots were stiff when they arrived, yet we're still comfortable enough to wear around all day. They're warm, comfortable- even brand new, and look adorable!! I'm so glad I bought them!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Duck feet and heels rubbed raw I loved these boots when I saw them online and when I opened the box, but after less than 5 minutes of walking, I need to return them. Not only is the shape of the foot awkward and bulky (unlike how it looks in the photos), but the back of my heel was rubbed raw after only a few steps. Although other reviewers said the same, they indicated this might be fixed with more wear. However, the heel piece is deliberately stiff for shape purposes, and I don't think will soften over time. As another reviewer said, also avoid if you have thicker calves and a thinner ankle - the boots do not accommodate this shape well at all.
Date published: 2016-02-03
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm but Bulky I like these boots HOWEVER they are extremely bulky. The length of the boot is perfect and true to size, however there is so much extra room above and on the sides of my feel. I feel like my feet look two sizes bigger than they are and the boots are somewhat difficult to walk in due to the bulkiness. On a positive note, they are extremely warm which is the most important thing to me. The snap that keeps the liner in comes undone EVERY time I wear them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jazzy Boot! I went into the store and tried on a size 9.5 they fit perfect that to me is not the right fit my toe was at the tip of the boot and my daughter has a 10 in Sorel boots she got freshman year of High School now she is a freshman in college I ordered her a size 11 in Joan of Artic for her birthday I think it should fit with a boot sock. Her old Sorels she said could be a 1/2 size bigger.I think if you are going to purchase a pair of boots you should go into the store try on the boots with boot socks walk around the store get a feel for them.I wouldn't size down.Happy Shopping! I hope this review was helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO WARM!!!! I was very hesitant buying these boots and choosing a size after reading all the reviews about these boots being too small, narrow, and tight. I measured my foot as Sorel said and I measured right at size 9 (my usual shoe size). After reading all the reviews I decided to order a 9.5 My boots arrived and I instantly tried them on. They fit me really well. I have room in them to wear thick socks for outdoor activities, which I wanted. With that said, I feel I totally could have fit into my usual size 9 though. I would not recommend ordering up a full size from your usual, if you want a little extra room just do a half size. These boots are super comfortable, super warm, and super cute!!! I don't think I have ever had such a warm boot in my life and I have lived in the upper midwest my entire life! I will definitely be getting lots of use out of these attractive and functional boots!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from my toes are as cold as ice! These boots are beautiful! I love the colors. They rub my Achilles but I think once I break them in more they wont rub. They are very stiff at first. I bought these because I have Raynauds (a circulation disorder). These boots DO NOT keep my feet warm what so ever.... Being rated at a -32 degrees Fahrenheit is a joke. I was inside a temperature regulated horse stable for an hour and a half that was 52 degrees inside while it was 24 degrees outside. My feet should've been warm. I do like these boots but am very disappointed I spent so much on them in hopes of "toasty toes". Guess I will keep searching for the right boot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TONS OF COMPLIMENTS... So functional too I just received these and am in love with them. I wear a size 8 shoe and these fit perfect for me in a size 8. Yes the backs are stiff at bottom of calf but isn't terrible, they're getting more comfortable as I wear them. They're stiffer there to hold the shape of the boot. I have received TONS OF COMPLIMENTS!!! I have the gray with hot pink laces and chevron pattern. Just ordered the liners with the fur so I can switch out the look, will have to buy black laces too (wish sorel sold laces). They're SUPER warm and keep my feet completely dry!! You will love these boots, just wear them for a few hours at a time while you break them in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not What I Expected I ordered a half size bigger after reading the reviews. They fit the length of my foot perfectly but were extremely wide. The calf portion of the boot was also wide and when I walked in them the sides rubbed on the back and sides of my legs. They were very uncomfortable. The boots are very cute and I wish they had fit better. I ended up returning them for a better fitting boot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love Sorel Boots, But This One is Clunky I should start off by saying that I absolutely love Sorel boots. I have the Joan of Arctic Wedge Mid Boot in an 8.5 that I literally wear every day, all day, and are so comfortable! But these snow boots are a different story. They are very well made, sturdy, and warm, but the fit just isn't there for me. I ordered these in a size 10 because, when trying on the boot in store I really had to squeeze into a 9.5. I have thick ankles and large calves from playing sports, and the top of the boot hits me right at the widest point. I think it's in part because of the insert that sticks out a lot more on the sides than I thought it would. The heel of the boot also digs into my ankles fairly aggressively, to the point where I couldn't imagine walking in them without several thick socks on. I ordered them in Shale in part because I wanted the red accents, but they are actually a very bright hot pink. I'm returning them for a different snow boot. Even though these boots didn't work out, I still love the Sorel brand and intend on growing my collection in the future - just maybe not with these particular boots. :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Way too small I agonized over which boots, and what size to buy. Finally settled on these ones. These arrived fairly quickly after I placed my order, but they were WAY too small. I always wear a size 11, and even went so far as to measure my foot on a piece of paper by drawing lines and measuring, as the size chart instructs. I am very disappointed that they did not fit, as they appeared to be high quality, warm winter boots. I just reordered a different pair, because when I was trying these on, I felt the hard plastic ridge in the back of the boot that others described in their reviews, and I wasn't thrilled with how the boots fit in general at the top. If I'm going to spend $170 on a pair of boots, I want to love them! I will add to the chorus of people who urge Sorel to provide return shipping. I had to pay to ship my boots back via usps, and until they receive my return, I will have 2 charges on my credit card for the old ones, and the new pair. But, I live in Rhode Island, and don't want to be without boots when it finally starts snowing! My advice is to order a size up. In my case, I went a full size up, because I had no choice - there are no size 11.5 boots on here. However, given how tight the 11's were, I feel like that would have been necessary anyways. I just ordered the Tofino boots. Hope these work out better!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute colors, but not worth the price Boots are very cute and the colors are nice and trendy. I got the Gray with orange highlights. It is a bit small so I recommend going up a half size. I was a bit disappointed how big their appearance was and thought maybe that was because they were so insulated and warm. Unfortunately not. Instead of going up a half size I'll just be returning them and looking for something else.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from "Knit" pad makes the top difficult to lace I was excited to try these cute new boots, but unfortunately, the colorful knit detail at the top is a very thick (~1/2" each side) pad that attaches only at the top of the liner). The boot laces normally until the top where this pad begins, and then it becomes very difficult to lace the boot well to avoid snow entering the boot. If you are buying these boots for fashion in cold weather only, then they may be fine to lace more loosely. However, if you intend to use these to keep out heavy snow as I do in Maine, these will NEVER work for you. I had to return them. Incidentally, the tongue of the boots is leather only, and has no insulation like some of my previous pairs of Sorel boots, which was also a disappointment. I don't feel these deserve Sorel's rating for "Heavy Snow."

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute, Not Comfy! I absolutely love the way the Shale colored boots look, but they rub into the back part of my lower legs making them painful to wear. I simply tried them on and took a couple of steps and immediately had to take them off. I am disappointed because they look awesome and now I have to send them back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fit at least 2 sizes up The boots run small to size. I had to "exchange" for a larger size. Come to find out they don't have an exchange policy. So I paid the shipping for the return. They wouldn't send out a new pair unless they charged my account a second time. We are not talking about $50 boots here! So I waited for them to credit my account before I could order the new pair. All in all it took about a month from start to finish to get the boots. Was not reimbursed for shipping.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from thin legs only these boots are really nice and I wish they would've worked out for me. they are designed for ladies with very thin calves and that's not me. I'm definitely representing an athletic build. I know that about myself but unfortunately the calf diameter is not noted in the description so I took a chance. hint: please add that in your product descriptions. I could MAKE them work but they wouldn't look good. honestly, I'm not sure that these would work for the majority of women out there. if you're rocking a calf larger than 12", forget it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ahhmazing!!! I am so happy with these boots and so glad I made the purchase! I ended up ordering a half a size bigger just based on other reviews! I am very happy I did because had I ordered a 9 I feel like they would have fit but would have been snug! With these being winter boots I wanted them on the bigger side so that way I had room for socks! In other reviews I have read that the seam along the back rubs on your ankle but mine has not at all (maybe this was fixed in newer styles)! The color is more of a bright pink then a coral pink. But overall I love these boots I will defiantly be buying another pair of sorels when these hit there time (which I hope will not be for a very long while). The reason I went with sorels is because they function great as winter boots but just as well when you need to wear boots but look presentable!! They look amazing and so super cute!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Joan of Arctic II I ordered the original Joan of Arctic last winter and loved them. One of the grommets on the boots broke and I returned them under warranty. I just received my replacement boots, the Joan of Arctic II, but am disappointed. I was given two color options (black/elk) but after looking online, I chose to wait for the Shale color which looked like it would come with red/dark pink laces. Imagine my disappointment when I opened my box to find neon pink laces on my boots I waited 8 months for. I won't return them because I can't wait another 8 months, but for the price I paid, I wish they were something I loved like my first pair. They are only okay. Not terribly attractive at all.
