How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I needed to go up a size and the back might bother me... Okay, so I WANT to rate these high, I want them to be perfect and amazing so bad... but i am slightly nervous how they're going to turn out. FIRST, I ordered down a size like all the reviews said. I wear an 8.5 and I ordered an 8. (PLUS I have another pair of sorel boots size 8 that fit perfect.) I HAD TO RETURN AND GET THE 9! Not sure how that happened when most of the reviews said opposite. Oh well. The part that really concerns me is that when i walk around the house in the boots (I don't want to wear them outside yet in case i need to return plus our snow is gone now) i feel like the felt liner is bending and digging into the back of my ankle. I'm concerned that after extended wear it might rub and create a blister. UGH! Or maybe it will soften up and not bother me, BUT my gut says otherwise. There's only one way to find out. I wish SO bad sorel didn't discontinue my FAVORITE pair of boots: the SNOWDRIFT. They have a reinforcement in the back to keep the boot from bending/giving behind the ankle. That boot was seriously the BEST, PLEASE BRING IT BACK SOREL

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with the boots!!! These boots were purchased for a relative for Christmas, I know she will love them. I personally have worn the Sorel pack boots for many years and love every pair, they all are great!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Jury is still out The downside to all of these reviews is that they are almost all written within less than a year of use. So far, after a month or so, these boots are performing pretty well. They are a replacement for a pair of Caribou boots that developed a gaping hole in the rubber on the heel after just over a year. To Sorel's credit, I was issued a full refund, but I certainly wasn't going to buy the same boot again, and I was doubtful if I even wanted to use the credit toward another pair of boots. I am not interested in overpriced, stylish apparel, and I needed boots, so I decided to try a different model. The Alpha Pac XT is a warm boot. The top buckle closure is useless to me, because it does not actually cinch the top of the boot tightly enough to fully serve its purpose. The elastic around the ankle functions well, except that when pulled tightly enough to serve its purpose, the extra elastic that extends beyond the lock forms a long loop that is prone to catching on branches and twigs and presents a tripping hazard. So far, the boot is fairly comfortable. I plan to cut out the elastic around the ankle and replace it with actual lacing, and I hope I will be able to tighten the boot more securely around the ankle. My foot slips around inside the boot a bit, even when I pull the elastic as tightly as possible. The rubber sole provides good traction, although it slips more than my original Sorels. Which brings me to the title of my review: the jury is still out. I had a pair of Sorels that lasted me 20 + years. When they finally wore out (the sole started to fall apart and the uppers were worn through in places), I begged my husband for a new pair for my birthday. He ordered me a pair of Caribou boots, which, as I said, lasted just over a year. I was so disappointed in the poor quality I experienced from a brand I trusted. I hope that my Alpha Pac XTs will last for longer than a year, but the jury is still out. I want to be a Sorel fan again, but only time will tell.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Returned I really wanted to like these. I spend a significant amount of time outside, often in near zero temps, and was looking for a boot warmer than my current non-Sorel pair. I ultimately ended up returning them and never wearing them outside, just around my apartment. First off, they're insanely big. Order 1-2 sizes down. No one wears socks that thick. And with Sorel making people pay postage both ways, I will definitely think twice before buying one of their boots with questionable size reviews again. These are really pretty heavy and unfortunately, the parts to keep the heavy boot on your feet don't work that well. The calf strap doesn't get tight enough around small calves even with pants on and the ankle bungee cords don't stay tightened once you start moving. I got the Joan of Arctic boots instead and have been very happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Military I was stationed in Northern Maine and I worked Law Enforcement so had to be outside in all conditions. Our squadron bought us all Sorel boots. If they were good enough for the military, they're good enough for me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot! I did a lot of research before buying this boot. I work all day in snow in the Sierra Nevada town of Mammoth Lakes and need a lightweight boot (each boot weighs about 1 1/2 pounds). My jobs include standing for hours in snow, walking through slush and snow, and hiking in snow without snowshoes. With one pair of medium weight wool socks, these boots have performed excellently, keeping my feet dry and warm. They have a well-defined Vibram sole that keeps its traction on most icy surfaces (in worse conditions I use boot chains). I wear a size 9 1/2 women's narrow and purchased the size 8. There is plenty of toe room and though the heel is a little wide, there is no movement of discomfort in the heel. I am a happy camper and will buy this boot again, when and if mine ever wear out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof Going to Antarctica and needed waterproof insulated boots. Ordered 4 pairs trying to find a pair that didn't leak. The left boot of each pair leaked significantly when immersed in a sink full of water. Leaks from the outside seam on the top of the foot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from non-returning customer Even after reading reviews and ordering a half size smaller (didn't want to go too small because tight boots equal cold feet), these boots are still too large. I even wear my thickest socks! Not only that, but they are definitely not going to work for negative temps. Down to 5 degrees if you're active, yes; beyond that, no. I would return them but don't want to hassle with the added cost. I won't be buying Sorel again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost something really great Pros: - Definitely keep my feet warm - I think they look cool - Reflective stripes work like a charm - Awesome traction as long as it's not 100% ice - Easy to tuck pants down into - Plenty of space for thick winter socks Cons: - Perhaps a little too much room for thick socks - Pretty heavy (but that's expected for winter boots as warm as these) - Takes a long time to dry out once wet (often from sweat) (this is also common for winter boots) - Calf strap is too short to use to tighten and ends up coming out of the buckle, both of which then flop around - Ankle bungee cords don't stay tightened once you start moving - Removable liner has no apparent replacement for sale (these boots might be old enough that they don't make them anymore as per usual with older models) - Liner wore all the way through at the ankle before the end of second season :( I like these boots and I still recommend them to friends, but never without explaining why I won't be buying a replacement pair when the time comes (which is disappointingly soon). I have faith in Sorel, but the liners on this boot were a real buzzkill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb boot Outstanding boot. Terrific warmth, even if I slip it on to walk the dog in the morning without socks. Tread design is well done, provides the best traction I have found. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from INCREDIBLE slight big since no half size offered and quite wide, fine with socks. Cozy warm feels like a slipper inside, not too bulky or heavy, reflective strip is awesome ( I walk a dog and is often dark), traction seems great too--NO COMPLAINTS so far. Definitely measure your foot, USE CM scale and order accordingly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I wanted a pair of real winter boots that would allow me to to stay out in the cold for an extended period of time. Well, these are it! I finally took them out on the snow and cold (25°F) and my feet were nice and toasty. I am so happy! I am also glad I read the reviews, I normally wear a size 7, I got a size 6 and they fit perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kept my feet dry and warm in the snow! I had bought the Glacy Explorers for my winter trip to Michigan the other year ago, and they kept my feet warm in the cold, but I discovered they did not keep my feet warm for extended periods in the snow, and could get slippery. So for this year's winter trip to Michigan, I purchased these Alpha Pac XT Boots based on the reviews of how well they do in the snow, and, yes, they lived up to the reviews! They made my feet and body feel secure when walking in the snow, and they kept my feet warm as well! I appreciate the insulation, and the comfortable EVA midsole - thank you, Sorel for that comfort! So I will use Sorel's Alpha Pac XT Boots for snow and freezing cold temps, and Glacy Explorer boots for those dry winter days when there's no snow, or freezing temps outside. My feet are normally a size 6, and the size 5 Alpha Pac XTs fit me just right. The Alpha Pac XTs are easy to put on and pull off. I will take them with me again on my next winter trip to Michigan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For my wife I purchased Women’s Alpha Pac™ XT Boot for my wife. She loves how "toasty" they keep her feet in these Minnesota winters. She wears size 7, and only has slightly extra room in her heel. They were great when we went snowshoeing the other day

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality boot, just watch sizing! Boot is very high quality, but I wear an 8.5 in hiking boots and also used the size chart provided on the website, which said I would be an 8.5 in the Alpha PAC boots. The boots only come in whole sizes, so I considered ordering up a size to a 9 because I knew I would be wearing thicker socks. After reading the other reviews saying they ran big, I took a gamble on an 8, which was still too big (seemed to fit around the foot but floppy on the heel). Got a 7 and with a sock liner and thick moutaineering merino wool socks, it was a perfect fit. So I would recommend buying them far enough in advance to have time to swap them out if you need to. Other than that tiny problem, no complaints!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest Boots Ever I just came in from shoveling snow in a wind chill of -9 and my feet couldn't have stayed warmer. Like others said, you don't need thick socks at all - I had on a pair of white cotton footies! The boots run large (at least on me); I wear a US size 7 to 7 1/2, but got these boots in a US size 6. I wish you made gloves!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surpasses My Expectations! We had a cold November with early snow, and following last year's record arctic cold with 98" of snow, I needed a new pair of winter boots that I could rely upon. The insulation in my other brand boots, about 4 years old, must have been deteriorating as my toes were cold now after 20 minutes. I had a very old pair of boy's Sorels, which were clunky and the insulation seam gave me blisters along the heel but my feet never got cold in them, so I checked out Sorel's website. Such beautiful boots and so many choices! Being older now, function and comfort are foremost, but I still appreciate a nice looking boot. I take long walks at least 4 times each day with an energetic winter-loving golden retriever. We go through woods, fields, on our frozen lake and on paved roads, in both daylight and darkness. These Alpha Pak XT Boots are PERFECT! I love the height with adjustable gator-like tops to keep deep snow out, the rubber covered tops, quick-adjusting ankle band, and the super gripping sole. There is NO rubbing inside - it is completely comfortable. I have "duck" feet - slender heel, but wide toes. The toe box is not crowded as most boots are. The reflective strip on the side is genius. It really shows up and I appreciate the added safety for myself and my dog. Since getting these, we have had a mild December, but was out for 45 minutes this morning. The actual temperature was 2 degrees. Wind-chill was -16. We had freezing rain 2 days ago followed by a few inches of powder last night. I never once slipped, nor did my toes or feet get cold and I was wearing only casual socks. If I could change anything, I would have ordered my regular shoe size of 7.5, but I ordered an eight. You DO NOT need to order up with these. I LOVE THESE BOOTS! They are super-warm, comfortable, not heavy, completely waterproof, and if they made a body suit like this I would buy it. If you're looking for a durable cold weather boot to keep you warm and safe for long periods outdoors, and looks good to boot #groan# - this is definitely it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest boot ever, great features Thanks for making such a great boot. I received them last week and I slid into them every time I head outdoors. First let me tell you that they have quick laces and there's a easy buckle on the top of the boot. My old Sorels were nothing like these. They are better then excellent. When I'm outside my body feels chilled but my feet are so warm each and every time. I know these guys will keep my feet warm all winter long up here in Minnesota for many years to come. By the way I've gone out with four different sock weights on inside my boots and my feet are toasty every time. You don't need thick socks to keep your feet warm, if you feel you need thick socks, which you don't then maybe buy a half size bigger then usual. No one can go wrong with a pair of these warm wonderful boots. Thanks for the great product. Love my boots.
