Reviews

Women’s 1964 Premium™ CVS Boot is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 154.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic boot! I was looking for a good boot to wear for a trip to Fairbanks, AK and this was exactly what I was looking for. The color I got looked great (Caramel) and was a good color to coordinate with. I was worried a little bit about the sizing since I was ordering online, but from checking out all the reviews about sizing I went with getting my true size (6.5) and the boots fit perfectly. Besides that, the boots held up for the first day of snow while still in Alaska and it was nice to step around without getting my feet wet and staying warm. I also did some light hiking with them and they worked well, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome boots! Have loved Sorels for many years, and it looks like this boot will continue that love-affair! Although no snow flakes here yet, they are super warm, easy to walk in and great color (red!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like the boots I haven't had winter boots since I was a kid, it was time for a pair. In reading other reviews of Sorel boots I noticed a lot of comments that they ran small. I normally wear a size 8 so ordered an 8.5. I feel they are quite a bit too big for my feet, especially if I am not wearing thick/warm socks. If I wear normal socks they seem a little clunky while walking around, but otherwise I love them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everyday Boots I am very pleased with these boots. They are a great height for everyday use. I am a real estate agent and wanted something to keep my feet dry. The Joan of Arch boots didn't fit well around my ankle and generally getting my foot into that opening so I turned to a different design. Fit is very true to size. My only complaint about the design is that the liners come out when I take off the boot. It isn't ideal, but because love the fit, style and functionality, I will deal with that flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love! Had the Joan of Arctics for several years, never really wore them because they were cuter than they were functional. Came back looking for a lighter snow boot specifically with the wool felt liner, nothing exposed at the top to collect snow and hamper tight lacing, and not as heavy. Voila!! This boot is PERFECT! The canvas upper makes it as light as possible for a reliable snow boot, it's not quite as tall as some others so it laces better around a narrower part of your leg, and the fit was EXACT, no more having to size up or down for thermal socks, etc. I'm an 8.5 in hikers and dress boots, etc, and these in an 8.5 have just the right amount of space for a smartwool sock and a little insulating airspace, without being huge and floppy. Thanks, Sorel!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from second season buying I bought a pair of these last year and loved them so I decided to invest in a black pair recently. the quality is no where near the same, I am extremely disappointed. threads already coming undone and the black color is fading on the ankle shaft. i have only had them 2.5 weeks and they look much much older. they do keep my feet warm but don't look worth the $.will not buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color is deceiving These look very different in real life than the pictures online. The color description was black/fossil, when really, it should have just read fossil/beige. The only true black is on the back heel. I thought these were more black and white so ordered them based on that. I ended up returning these and buying another style. Otherwise these are as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits Small I read the reviews, and most of them said fits true to size with extra room for thick socks. This was not the case for me. My boots came in quite small, fit well with no socks, but in the winter I like to wear thick socks so I had to send them back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot. I purchased these boots for my daughter who has been in college in the super cold Northeast. They are not her first pair of Sorel Boots however they may be her favorite. She picked out the Underbrush color and has worn them almost everyday since Christmas because it keeps snowing where we live. She loves the cute style and the sturdiness of the boot. Great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm boot for public transit commute I needed a boot that I could walk to the bus in and wear all day at work as a teacher (not too much room in my backpack for an extra pair of shoes every day!), and these fit the bill. When I first put them on I thought they would be too tight, but they stretched out in just a few minutes of wearing them around my apartment. The linings are very warm - a must for commuting by foot & bus in Minneapolis! They've got a good amount of weight to them for tromping through snow & over ice, but I find them easy to wear throughout a long day of work. I love that they're a rather understated winter boot, too. Exactly what I was looking for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gave as a gift I got these as a gift for my Grandaughter for Christmas. She absolutely loves them and said these were her favorite present.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid These boots are very comfortable and warm. Living in Chicago, I do a lot of walking and these boots are pretty easy to maneuver in even though they're slightly big. I ordered the size 7, but I just throw on some thick socks and I'm good to go. Since we've already had significant snow this season, I've had ample opportunity to test them out - and the most important test they passed is keeping my feet dry. Bottom line, these boots are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these boots Got our first big snow and got to wear these boots in the rough of it. Kept my feet warm and dry. I wear 8.5-9. I went with a 9 and there is a little room for a thicker sock. They're a little bulky but they're heavy duty snow boots so that's kind of expected. I got the black and I love how they look. I recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality product I saw these boots on sale during Black Friday and was so excited to get them! They are super warm and comfy. I wore them out after it snowed over a foot and my feet stayed dry and warm. Only thing was the sizing was a little difficult for me to decide. I am normally a 9-9.5 in shoes and in these boots I ordered an 8.5. They fit pretty good, but are a little roomier than I planned on. However I think with wearing thick socks they'd fit more snug. I just wasn't sure how they were suppose to fit normally so I stuck with the size I ordered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These boots are so cute and warm! I decided to order these boots because I currently have the Joan of Arctic boots that were taller and was wanting something that was shorter and a little more dressy. These boots were exactly what I expected! I wear a size 7 and ordered a size 7. They do have a little bit more toe room as do the ones I already had but they are boots let's be real. It gives you a little bit of room to wear some warmer socks and then your feet will literally stay warm forever. I love how classy and vintage they look and actually feel like they're less clompy then my Joan of Arctic boots. I live in Northern Minnesota and have already worn them out in extremely cold climates for long periods of time and have not experienced my feet getting cold. LOVE THEM!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fit just right Other reviews said that these run large so I ordered a half size smaller and that was a mistake! Order your true size! Warning to buyers- it costs $17 to ship them back to Sorel for a return. I was very happy with the boots once I received the right size. Not so happy with the $17 loss.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fit- heavy boots I bought these and really liked them, but they were too heavy for the climate I'm in. I'm in the south with barely any snow. These were a good fit for my regular size but they were just too bulky for everyday wear. The return was smooth and I purchased some other boots from the casual line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boot/way too big This boot is not true to size and is much larger than a typical size 6.5. I'm returning for smaller size since the boot is a great boot.
Date published: 2016-11-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO CUTE I ordered the black/fossil in size 6.5. I love neutrals and this fits everything in my closet --- amazing. So sizing: it's basically a wide shoe. I'm a true 6.5 W so for normal shoes, I normally have to size up (to as big as sorel size 7.5). The 6.5 fit me perfectly! Wearing socks with the insert, there is just a little bit more room for a "thick" winter sock. Without the insert, there's plenty of room. It is a bit bulky, though, for the purpose of snow but it definitely makes my feet look bigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite winter boots! We don't get much snow/cold weather where I am at, but I still love these boots. I normally wear an 8/9 so I bought a 8 1/2 and they are perfect. Roomy enough that I can wear some thick socks/pants if need be, but not overly so. I have a pretty wide calf (as in I can't wear pretty much any boot that goes past the ankle) and these were perfect without making my leg look like a tree trunk!! We got two days of freezing rain/snow so I finally got to put them to the test. Not only were my feet warm (I actually had to change the socks I was wearing to something less thick since my feet started sweating a little) but they kept my feet completely dry too. They are pretty comfy, still a little stiff and need to be broken in, but that's pretty much all winter boots. I can tell I will have these for years to come!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty perfect Absolutely love these. I wear an 8 1/2-9, I plan on wearing thick socks so I went with a 9 and it's great! The rubber front is a bit wider then I was expecting, the picture makes them seem slim. Other than that they're great! So comfy and so warm!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable warmth! I live in a warm climate and never need winter boots. But when I planned a winter vacation to Iceland, I knew I needed to find something to keep me warm. I tromped through deep snow, hiked in falling snow, and went on glacier walks in these boots. Not once did my feet get wet, or feel cold in any way. Every day I was so comfortable that my feet could have been clad in tennis shoes, propped up by a warm fire and they would not have felt any differently than they did wading through snow in my Sorel boots. I was nervous about buying these without trying them on first because I have calves that could give a sumo wrestler a run for his money. But the give in both the boot liner and the boot itself was sufficient enough that I had nothing to worry about. There was even one day where I had my leg and 3 layers of pants all tucked into the top of my boots and all I had to do was remove the shoelaces from the top eyelet and everything was good. I highly recommend these boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I tried almost every boot on in the store and these were light and comfortable with a tab in the back to get them on easily. More functional than fashionable. Extremely warm too. I normally wear a size 7 and the 6.5 fit perfect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Completely Disappointed I was very excited to receive all 3 Sorel boots today. I was most excited to try on my Premium CVS 1964. I was hoping my purchase would be practical for snow and rain(taking lining out). I spent time unlacing them as I have a ankle brace I wear from injury. I ordered a size down as most suggested. I tried them on barefoot. I can easily wear them barefoot. I don't like bulky socks so I wouldn't wear more than hose. I pulled the lining out the shoe fit like my husband's size 12. If I were to put a thick sock on right now with my ankle brace (stretch material) It would be equivalent to a athletic sock. I live in North Carolina. We usually get a couple snows but a lot more ice. The whole online ordering (which I do a lot) has been uneasy with Sorel. I like a good brand shoe. I planned to order my daughters Joan of Arctic Odsidian and Joan of Arctic Knit II. One very fashion minded and one very practical. I don't know how to order for myself on Sorel much less daughters. I bought 3 boots and none fit. I guess now I pay for shipping back. I've not had a good experience with Sorel online. If you have time and money to try buying online with Sorel , go for it. I personally want better odds. I ordered up and down. Both Out and About too small and Premium CVS 1964 okay barefooted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THESE!!!! I love these boots! So cute and comfortable! I got so many compliments the first time I wore them. I have the Joan of Arctics in an 8 and there is a little wiggle room in those so I went for a 7.5 in these and they fit nice and snug (my foot measures at 25cm). I knotted the ends of the laces so I do not have to tie them. These are warm and waterproof. They are great for going to and from work, outdoor chores/activities, running errands etc. They aren't as heavy, warm/hot and high as the Joan of Arctics which is what I was looking for...more of an everyday boot as opposed to a blizzard or full day outside boot. Highly recommend these!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very wide toe I love this boot in the picture but in person, not so much. I felt so clunky and like I had clown shoes on. The boot was very cute and would look nice on someone with very small feet but was not for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Them! I am new to Sorel. I see these boots around a lot here in Chicago. I love these. I ordered a 8.5 I have some room even with thick socks but I prefer some room rather than being tight. They are extremely warm. Was a little on the fence about the blue, but after wearing them once. I received a lot of compliments. If your size is available get them you won't be sorry!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable I wear a 8.5 shoe size but ordered a 8 and they fit perfect! Use their sizing guidelines to measure your foot! I ordered the Stone Blue, Black color and they are even better in person! These are my first pair of Sorel's and I can't wait for my next pair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Crazy Sizing?! I am between a size 7.5 and 8; I got a size 8 because I wear lots of layers. When I received the boots, they fit with the liner in but if you were to wear them without the liner they are almost 2inches too large. I went to the only store near me that sells sorel to figure out the size to order and they did not have the cvs style so I tried on other styles. In one style the size 8 was too small, another style was perfect in a size 7, and a third style fit in a size 7.5. I have no idea what size to order and I think I might not even want them anymore.
Date published: 2016-01-13
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Stylish boot but not as warm as I was hoping for. We hit -15 and even though they kept my feet dry in the snow, my feet were cold. The boot runs wide- not for narrow feet. Review their return policy before purchasing, especially if they are being purchased as a gift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, keeps my feet warm. I have a pair of Sorel boots that are 7 years old. I was ready for new boots. I love them just as much as my old pair. They look even better than they do in pictures. I am on a school bus everyday, and no longer have to worry about cold feet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice boots, but... These boots are nice, but do look chunky (although unavoidable with most winter boots). I did order a 0.5 size smaller (usually 9, ordered 8.5) as per previous reviews, which was a good idea. My feet were able to fit even with thick socks. HOWEVER, these boots cannot withstand cold weather and your toes will be frozen after a couple of hours in 30 degree fahrenheit weather (even with thick socks on). They are also slippery on ice. Therefore, definitely get heavier boots if you're living in a similar area as myself since 30 degrees is pretty mild. Nevertheless, these boots will keep you warm for a short period of time outside in the cold and will keep you dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great winter boot This product is great for cold weather. It keeps you warm walking around in the snow, is not slippery, definitely waterproof, and very comfortable. My boot is a little large for my foot, I ordered a 7 and should have gotten a 6.5, but it is still wearable and comfortable. Great product overall and also stylish!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOOOVE THESE BOOTS I love these boots! So glad I listened to previous reviews and ordered half size smaller because they do run a little big. I normally wear a 9 but the 8.5 fit great!! They are kind of bulky in the toe area but not as much as most winter boots!! And they look super cute with jeans!! They keep my feet warm, dry and cozy!! <3

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuter than the picture I was surprised that these were even cuter in real life. Major compliments, they're sleek and trendy. I would order a full size lower - even then I still feel like I have a little too much room, although with thick winter socks that won't be a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love these boots I finally pulled the trigger and bought these boots, the premium cvs boot in major/bluff. I ordered a half size smaller after reading the reviews and the 6.5 is perfect. I slip these on in the morning with no socks, I have them tied at the ends of the shoelace so they don't slip out of the eyelets. When it's super cold or I'm going to be outside I wear a smart wool sock and lace them tight. They are easy to get on and off once you've worn them a few times, with or without the liner. They are stiff but in a way winter boots should be. They are a bit wide looking but it makes your feet look tinier. My only complaint is that from the picture I was expecting a tomato red or an orangy red for the sole and the shoelaces. When you get in bright light it looks more like neon pink! I think I'm going to wear them in a bit and see what the color does. But that's the only reason I don't love them 100%. They do come with black laces so I might just change them out and it might not be quite so obvious to me. The quality is, as always, outstanding. I'm expecting to wear these boots for many many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my boots! These boots were great! I live where it's cold and snowy and they keep my feet warm and dry. I walk to work at a ski resort daily and they've been perfect. Sad to say they were recently stolen when my car was stolen : ( I usually wear size 8, they are a little loose but it works great because I usually wear them with big, warm socks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from same problem as last year I have a couple pair of Sorels that are old & would like to get the mid-height, more colorful boots. I ordered some last year, even after reading the reviews that spoke about it gouging their leg on the back. Yep, mine did the same. Thinking that Sorel might have fixed the problem..I tried again this year. I actually ordered 2 different boots thinking one has to work. They are the same. Now I have to pay to return them again. Not shopping with Sorel again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good winter boots I have been on the lookout for new winter boots since my Columbia boots wore out last year, and I am so happy I found these! The wool liners make them super warm, and I know they will be perfect for rain and snow. The boots were a little stiff right out of the box, and I had to undo the laces to get them on the first time, but they were still comfortable the first time I put them on. I think they should wear in and become less stiff with time. With the liner, they are the perfect fit and feel true to size, though with the liner removed, I would probably be able to size down to an 8.5 (I always wear a 9). Definitely a quality product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boots I think this was a great gift I bought for my better half. She likes things to be fashionable and pretty. I like things durable and tough. It was a hard balance but Sorel did great. Keep it up!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sooooo cute, but.... I LOVE these boots. I mean, LOVE. Unfortunately, with a size 10 foot I feel like I have clown shoes on when wearing them. They are a large boot because of the liner/insulation to keep your feet warm. Not so stylish for those with larger feet. They are comfortable, but there is a bit of "crumpling" in the boot if they are not tied as tight as possible. Wish they looked as good on my giant feet as I had envisioned, but they will keep me warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring on the cold weather I have been wanting these boots for well over a year - so I finally took the plunge. I tend to wear size 8's in most things, but after reading over the reviews I chose 7.5 and they fit perfectly! I tried them on with the liner in and a pair of Smart Wool socks on and the fit was just what I wanted (comfy fit, not too tight or loose)! I purchased Major, Bluff color combo and I love it - the bright lining on the sole and shoelace is perfect - it's a funky bright coral (I dig it) I live in MI and we get a solid amount of snow along with seriously cold temps - so these will be perfect for the mitten!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way too big I received a pair of these boots in the Siberia colorway and was so excited to get them for Xmas. I am a size 10 in all other brands and based on previous reviews that said this boot ran "true to size" I ordered a size 10. When I received these boots they looked like a man's 10. I checked the box but sure enough it said women's. They were enormous. They fit like a size 12 and don't even think about removing the liner to wear them as rain boots in warmer months-they were like wearing my father's shoes as a child. I was so disappointed because by the time i got them at Christmas, all the sizes had sold out. The real kicker is to UPS ground them back to Sorel, UPS charged $25.00 as they said it was a rural area. So so bummed but will try again next year. They are beautiful and wish they had fit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed -- NOT warm! I was so excited to purchase my first pair of Sorel boots to keep my feet warm during the Minnesota winters. These boots are NOT warm. They are somehow rated to -25 degrees (how??). I took my kids sledding in 10 degree weather (10 degrees ABOVE zero and no wind) and within 20 minutes of being outside in these boots, my feet were FREEZING. I was wearing thick, wool socks and thought maybe the socks were too thick. The next time I wore thinner socks and had the same result. These boots are definitely not made for colder, winter temps and no where near the rated -25 degrees. They would be better suited for temps in the 30's and warmer. Other than the boots not being very functional for a Minnesota winter, they're comfortable (but heavy) and they'll keep your feet dry. If you're looking for warmth though, keep searching -- these are not the boots for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dream boot These boots are great! Warm, comfortable, perfect for Northwoods Winter. They are also stylish. I followed other reviewers and ordered a half size smaller they fit great! They are stiff when you first get them they have to be broken in. They are a heavy winter boot but once you get used to the weight perfect for running around town also. Love them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable & Fashion Forward LOVE!! They're absolutely adorable and not too chunky like other winter boots can be. I was skeptical purchasing these after reading the reviews on sizing. I am a size 6 and ordered a size 6, they fit perfect! If I take the liner out they're a bit roomy but with a thick boot sock they're just fine. I bought the black pair and if you're worried about the lace color don't, they come with a black pair of laces as well! I have yet to test them out in the snow since we have had a mild winter so far this year, but for once I'm excited for the next big snowfall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from in love with these booties! I asked Santa for these for Xmas =P after reading a bunch of revies I asked my ma for an 8.5 when I wear a 9 in everything. The 8.5 is perfect!!! These boots are so cute! Many people said these were uncomfortable and needed to be broken in or hurt their ankles but I have worn these the past 2 days non stop and they are so comfy and warm! I have arthritis in both knees so I'm a sucker for comfy shoes and I'm so glad these turned out perfectly for me!
