How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Men’s Madson™ Hiker Waterproof Boot is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor boot. Typically I’m a danner guy but thought I would give This Sorel boot a try as I liked the looks of it and it seemed to have everything I was after, but boy was I wrong... First hike I nearly sprained my ankle or dislocated my knee as I was slipping and sliding all over the trail, I seriously felt like I was wearing ice skates. These boots have horrible traction and grip, if you hike in any sort of moist or wet areas (I’m from Portland,OR) I’d highly recommend you look elsewhere for a safe hiking boot. Next, after about 3 easy/moderate day hikes slipping and sliding around the trails are a few days of easy work in the yard the soal began to fall apart. It has split in 2 on both shoes... These boots didn’t last half a year with very light use, and I am very disappointed in my purchase. Pro’s - the boots do look good and waterproof seems to hold, they’d be a good walk around the city boot but not hiking. Back to Danner I go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Daily wear but not a hiking boot I’ve owned these for 8 months and find them very comfortable for daily wear in and around suburbia or the City. They are light, comfortable and stylish. That being said, if you plan on using these as a hiker over rocky terrain there are better choices. The soft sole and flexibility of the shoe work for the ashphalt but not on rock strewn trails. I’m enjoying these boots but are not the “right tool” for a serious hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Boot! Bought these boots as a present for my husband. Perfect. Manly and rugged but still fun with the pop of blue. Both of us couldn't be happier!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 4 MONTHS LATER... TOE FALLING APART Really wanted to enjoy these for long-term but the toes are falling apart just 4 months into my purchase and mind you, I have taken them on 2 hikes (less than 3 miles each) and worn them around the city a handful of times only. The toe is peeling completely apart on both shoes with the stitching that originally was holding it together fraying and also tearing so now when I go hiking the front end catches on EVERY loose stone or pebble and I have completely fallen forward and tripped because of these shoes on multiple times, injuring myself. I'm not clumsy at all but when the lip/toe of the shoe is peeling off with about 1 inch of gap in the front, it will catch on everything and fold under, tripping me unconditionally. Quite a sore quality control mishap on Sorel's part. My first pair and I absolutely adore this shoe (fit, comfort) but the durability is lacking severely... I would skip the Madson Hiker unless you're wearing them just around town or in your backyard... they're not truly hikers. The durability wouldn't last any hike out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect in style Product is true They Said they are waterproof boots but feel like sneakers. They were absolutely right. True product, great feel as well as good material that will last you a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots! I have worn many different types and style of boot. I however have never had a hiking boot. I was looking for something light weight but water proof. I deliver and install cabinets, so I am in and out of different types of weather. But I also spend time inside as well. So the ideal boot for me is this exact boot. I have owned these boots for 1 year now and they have held up very well. I have cleaned and conditioned the boots twice and have added an additional sealer after every cleaning. Sorel Makes a great product! Thanks!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't hold up. I really liked these boots. Besides the looks, they are absolutely comfortable. Finding comfortable footwear is kind of a problem for me and these required zero time to break into. I wore them every day for about a week on a trip to Ireland. Nothing extreme, just hiking through wet grass, rain, rocks, woods. Wearing them was a real pleasure. Unfortunately, the bottom rubbery layer of the soles started separating (see the photo). Also, they aren't waterproof. Walking through wet grass for an hour got my feet completely wet. Good thing I was able to return them for a full refund. Although I wish they were keepers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, cool boot I bought these for my boyfriend and they are all he wears now. They fit him great, and he always has trouble finding a good size. He’s a 15. They’ve been helping with his back pain and arches. Also, these are by far the most fashionable boots Sorel has to offer... Amazing product, I definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits large, nice supple hiking boot First off is the fit is larger than stated size. The Sorel website size guide says a 9.5 = 27.5cm, but when I pulled out the insole to measure it, it's over 28.5cm long! If you are buying online, I would recommend buying at least half size smaller than what you normally wear. Otherwise, the quality seems very good, nice supple leather right out of the box and lightweight boot with flexible sole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pair of Shoes My feet have never felt more warm during the winter time! The quality is amazing and it shipped to me perfectly on time. These shoes felt comfortable when I went on a hike around a close-by state park as well as when I walked around the city. I fully intend on continuing to buy footwear from Sorel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot The boots look great and are very comfortable. Very little break in time. They are also very warm. I have not yet put them to the test as far as being waterproof goes. They ran about a 1/2 size small from what I normally wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Good, Not Waterproof After four months of use, the boots are comfortable and moderately warm. Overall, the boots are holding up. Some (non-essential) threads are coming loose and I have yet to see what the long-term effects of that will be. They are also not waterproof. They are water resistant, and generally hold up well. Water has leaked in at the welt (where the sole meets the vamp). If you desire these boots for repetitive waterproof functionality, I would look elsewhere. For moderate use, they suffice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boot I love Sorel boots. They combine style, comfort and function. I wear these boots every days and I am on my feet most of the time. These booths provide support and comfort. They are 100% waterproof and look very stylish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots I purchased these for my ex husband for Christmas. He loved them. He says they're really comfortable and stylish. He wore them in Colorado, hiked thru snow, and said his feet were warm and dry the whole time. He really really likes them alot!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Falling for a Shoe, In a Good Way I've had this shoe for about six months. I'm one of those people that can get dirty in church, and yet these shoes are still in very good condition. I went a half size down from my normal shoe size to get them to fit right. The two hooks for quick on/off is very nice when camping. There are some wear spots that have shown up though, like the black coating coming off the hooks and showing their silver metal underneath. But that's because I have been wearing them so often, they are my most comfy Sorels I own. they took a slight bit longer to break in though. To end with is I think these are my favorite Sorels, even with them being a bit uncomfortable at first. Only thing I would change on them is the online photos and have the sizing proper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crazy comfortable Wife wanted new sorels, so I got a pair too...and man do they live up to the hype! They are possibly the most comfortable shoes in my closet right now. Look great with jeans and even chinos on casual Friday. Judging by her collection, they'll last quite some time as well!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shoe outsole quality issues I have had these boots for less than 1 month (delivered 10/18) and the outsole is already separating from the rest of the shoe. This is happening at the front of both boots. No hiking, no abuse, just rain and daily wear. I currently have no issues with the boot uppers. Fit is good and boots are dry. When I tried to warranty these boots, I was given an RA# and told to send them to PDX and wait 4-6 weeks for their return. I am hoping that Sorel’s customer service will find a way to fix my quality issue and keep my feet dry in the interim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great from day one Usually I have to break in boots before I start to like them but these were ready to go from day one. These boots are holding up great so far here on the Farm. My feet have been comfortable and dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Boot In the decades I served as an Infantry Paratrooper I tried and wore many, many boots. None of them are as comfortable, aesthetically appealing or tougher than this boot. Feels more like a sneaker than a boot. In Colorado, a great boot is invaluable, the Madson Hiker waterproof boot is the best boot I've purchased, Ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Madison Hiker is an all around incredible boot This boot is my go to. I wear it on casual hikes, and even for a night out. Stylish and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it.
