Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Coat! This is the best coat I have ever owned! I just love it. Keeps me toasty warm on the coldest of NYC days. I love the waist cinching...makes it extra warm and more flattering. I bought it on sale and even though it was more than I wanted to spend, it was worth every penny. They were out of size M so I went with L and while it's a tad big, it still looks good on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Withstands Russian Winters I am one of those perpetually cold types who shiver when temps drop below 75, so I debated for a long time on whether to go with this brand, or a Canada Goose, for a month long trip to Russia and Mongolia. In the dead of winter. Temps dipped to -27 degrees Fahrenheit, and despite spending most of my days outside, this jacket kept me toasty, even sweaty if I was very active. The construction is wonderful, and the pockets are well placed, zippered, non-zippered for your hands/easier access, and upper chest to keep your hands closer to your core. I especially liked the inside breast pocket, electronics die fast when exposed to freezing temperatures so this was a phone saver and a place to stash money/passport/boarding tickets. The zipper is very durable and large, with the option to zip upwards to give your legs more room. There are 2 side adjusters as well, helpful to sinch the waist tighter for more shape/less air flow. The hood is wonderfully big, with enough room to add a hat for extra warmth. The arms are well insulated; I saw complaints on other parkas for skimping on this area, but this parka has you evenly covered, with ample down, from head to knees. The only thing I would have changed is the fur ruff. It is a wonderful windbreak, and very warm, but I wish that it was longer and enveloped the hood further down towards the neck. I am 5 ft 7, 115 lbs and a small fit well with room underneath for layers (though you don't need many!) As an added bonus, whenever I got chilly in draftier hotels/train rides, I could use this as a little comforter and throw it over the bed for a better nights sleep. All in all, worth every cent spent. I am a new Sorel enthusiast, and confident this parka will last me a lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In love! This was worth the money, I have absolutely no regrets. It's a very warm coat, very well constructed and so stylish. I've had this coat since November 2016 and it has since become my "go-to" coat. I own several high end, name brand coats, and the Sorel Joan of Arctic is hands down the warmest, most comfortable and stylish. The details, oh my, the details - the waist cinch is fantastic as it gives you a very nice silhouette. The high neck is ideal as it helps keep the cold and wind off your neck and when paired with the coyote trim hood, I am TRULY warm and toasty in below 32 degree weather with high winds (aka NYC). When it's not that cold and windy, I don't zipper it all the way up, use a scarf around my neck, the hood is down, and I'm still warm, comfortable and stylish. There is no wrong way to use this awesome coat. I truly love it. I'm very happy with my purchase. Sorel delivers on it's promise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Are you looking for a warm coat? I hate cold weather!! I was looking for a coat to keep me warm and this coat is my dream come true! It blocks the wind - is extremely warm - and the length reaches my knees. The zipper seems very durable. The interior cuffs reach my knuckles. The little side buckles give it a bit of contour. I even wear it to work with my dresses. Love the hood and the high collar (when zipped reaches your nose). Lovely coat that I will have for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy but solid Like others, I think this coat is crafted well and provides a lot of function for cold weather. I've lived in Chicago for 10 years and coats like this are necessary but since you're wearing them for almost half of the year they also need to be comfortable and "luggable". So my only two complaints is the neck is very stiff making it awkward to zip up fully and the coat is significantly heavier than any other coat I've worn. I think the amount and gauge of the metal hardware is the culprit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE best Winter coat EVER!!!! I was in the store buying my Cate the Great boots when the shipment containing THIS baby arrived. I was unhappy with my current coat so I decided to try it on....and fell IN LOVE!!! BUUT...I couldn't afford it. So I just got my boots and left. But I never stopped thinking about her. SOOOO. After the new year I decided to just GO FOR IT! And I am so glad I did! This coat is absolutely AMAZING!!! Sooo warm and cozy! The details are well crafted, the waterproof fabric Devine! And the pockets....I could go on and on about this coat. Only two "issues": 1. In my haste, I ordered the XL but realized too late that I think I tried on the L so it is a tad big. I keep asking everyone and they say it looks fine but I wish I would've gotten the L. Thank GOD for the cinching waist tabs!! 2. The neck is very stiff and too high. It hits me in an awkward place (again maybe because of the sizing???) and the zipper sticks and is hard to maneuver. But even after all that, I still love her. HIGHLY recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Coat for Chicago Weather! I recently moved to Chicago and was nervous about staying warm. I came across this jacket in a store and tried it on and immediately fell in love with it! It is the warmest coat I've ever had. It keeps me warm walking in subzero temperatures, and it is also very stylish! I get many compliments on it. The coat does fit slightly larger, so I recommend going down a size if you're in between sizes. Great purchase and investment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORTH IT!!!! I had spinal fusion and the only corncerned I had during 2014 winter was the cold was always seeping into my back. I bought this Joan Van Arc coat on being sold on quality and insulation linen. Also the fact you would not need to overdress to keep warm during inclement weather. I can say for a fact that all I stated is true this coat keep you warm at all weather conditions. No extra clothing needed. I am a curvy woman and I purchase a medium and it fit beautiful along my shape. Worth every dime... Satisfied..
