Women’s Joan Of Arctic™ Knit Boot 3.8 5 58 58
Function and fashion but not without flaws. I bought these boots to replace the Sorel's I'd been wearing for 15 years. I searched far and wide before making this purchase and, while I really love them, they definitely have room for improvement. The first time I wore these boots I was walking on a snow covered mountain in 10 degree temperatures for 5 hours. My feet were toasty warm and dry the entire time. I have worn them in the snow, freezing rain/slush and below freezing temperatures multiple times since then and have been completely dry and comfortable in them each time. I wear the same size in every shoe type and style. I tried on and bought my normal size in these boots and they fit perfectly. They're not too loose with lightweight ski socks and they're not too tight with heavyweight hiking/hunting socks. I definitely noticed the issue with the "bending in" of the boot spine. Initially I worried this would become a real problem, but each time I noticed it happening I was able to adjust the boot so it was comfortable again. After a dozen or so times wearing these boots I can still see the spot where the boot spine is bending in but it does not dig into my calf at all anymore and doesn't require any adjustment after I get them on. I have really skinny legs and these boots definitely make my calfs look BIG. I bought them for function, so I got over this most unflattering feature of the boots pretty quickly. I have gotten soo many compliments on them anyway! Everyone wants to know what brand they are. When you're spending this much money on boots you have to know what's most important to you. For me, I wanted warmth and comfort in extremely cold, wet conditions and these boots delivered. Everything after that is icing on the cake. January 12, 2015
This boot HURTS I got this boot as a Christmas gift (I asked for these in particular) and wore them for the first time this week. They hurt me so badly, I wanted to take them off and walk barefoot in the snow. The back of the boot digs so badly into my achilles area of the back of my leg I have open red sores! A boot this respected and that costs this much shouldn't hurt the wearer like this. I am returning them for a refund and have been completely turned off by Sorels. I want a boot that is cute, warm AND comfortable. This particular style of Sorels are cute and warm, but they hurt like heck. Don't buy the Joan of Arctic boots! January 10, 2015
Love Sorel These boots are so comfortable very warm the only thing is that the spine of the back of the boot its a little annoying it doesn't hurt you or anything like that but you get used to it I Love my sorel boots never had a pair it is very cold in chicago this year and I bought i different brand and my feet where frozen i took them back amd got these and haven't had a problem my feet are very warm my mom was right about Sorel boots very warm and worth every penny she had hers for over 4 years. Love Sorel :) January 9, 2015
So cold and very big I purchased these boots because I see so many people wearing them and I wanted a good warm pair of boots for New England winters that would stay warm and dry. I had them on yesterday playing with my kids in the backyard and after 15-20 minutes my feet were frozen and I was wearing good warm smart wool socks. The rest of me was fine. My neighbor who was in a cheaper brand, her feet were fine. My feet were so numb I had to go inside. I am so disappointed in boots that I thought were good quality winter warmers. Also I ordered my typical size (didn't size up for boots) and they are too big. These are very clunky boots. Be prepared to clomp around. All around very very disappointed. January 9, 2015
Almost great This boot is made well & is comfortable, but the boot ends at the widest part of my calf making it not very flattering. It would be perfect if the shaft height was slightly shorter or slightly taller. January 8, 2015
Moon Boots This is my very first pair of winter boots, so read my review with that in mind. The construction and materials were excellent quality! The sizing was true to size for me, I wear 8.5 and the 8.5 fit perfectly. However, although the sizing was right, they looked and felt enormous! I had to deliberately pick each leg up to take a step. Very awkward. I feel like these are meant for walking on the moon. I realize these would be perfect if you are dealing with the snow every single day, as in the Yukon, not NYC :) It's just a bit much for every day walking with the occasional snow. I had to mail these back. However, Sorel makes excellent products. Good luck and happy shopping! January 8, 2015
Digs into your ankle This boot is super cute and I really wanted to love it. However, as some other reviewers have mentioned, the spine of of the boot folds when you walk and it completely digs into your ankle. This does not "break in" and seems to get worse. The actual fit from front to back was good. Please fix this issue Sorel, I would love to be able to comfortably wear this boot!! January 8, 2015
Great Boot - But SUPER Large This is such a cute boot! And super warm! BUT the sizing is WAY off - so beware. I typically wear a size 8 in regular shoes, but I always get a size 8.5 in boots (to accommodate socks). I bought an 8 in these, after reading the reviews, and they were still too big! Unfortunately, I did not realize quite how large they were, until I was across the country on a ski vacation. The heel did rub my foot pretty badly (as other reviews have said), but I think this was only because they were too large. Luckily, I was able to sell them on Ebay for almost the same price that I purchased them for. And I just re-ordered the 7.5. So, my advice: order a full size smaller! January 6, 2015
Women’s Joan Of Arctic™ Knit Boot The boot was a Christmas gift for my daughter. The boot was a perfect fit. Our family went hiking in minus degree temperatures and my daughter was the only one not complaining about how cold her feet were. The boot kept her feet dry and warm the entire hike. I just wish I had ordered a pair for me! Having a college student away from home and traveling in the winter months is reassuring she has good footwear to keep her warm. December 30, 2014
Love these boots I had a different pair of Sorels for over 10 years so it was time for some new ones. I was skeptical about the size after I read some of the reviews, but found out when I tried them on they are true to size. Love the look and the feel. Very durable. So glad I got them. Well worth it! December 29, 2014
Adore These Boots! These boots are perfect! They didn't let me down when I opened the package and was able to try them on. From reading other reviews, I was a little nervous about the rubbing of the heels. But there were no problems. I wore them for a day and nothing was wrong. For the people who say they are hard to walk in, Yea, they are little thick but they are snow boots. If you haven't ever walked in skiing or snowboard boots before then these will feel off to you. But if you have, then you will notice these are way easier to walk in. They are warm and comfy. Which is always a plus! I love the style of them. I can wear them out with a cute outfit during New England winter weather. So, overall I am beyond happy with this purchase. :) December 28, 2014
terrible fit I have had a pair of sorel's for years and loved them, but since Sorel is coming out with lots of cute, updated snow boots I thought i should upgrade as well. These are super cute, but they did look a bit large and "clownish". I can get over the look but they are super hard to walk in and most importantly the "spine" of the boot folds when you walk and it completely digs into your ankle. I am wearing them around my house to "break them in", but this is a design flaw. Very cute, but not functional...being returned! December 26, 2014
LOVE this boot! Size: My true size is a 6.5 on my right foot and a 7 on my left. I ordered the 7 and they were tight on my toes. I sent them back and reordered the 7.5 and they fit perfectly! Quality: This boot is fantastic. One and a half feet of snow fell last week and I was easily able to trek through it with this boot and my feet didn't get wet at all. This week the temperatures are like spring weather and my back yard is nothing but a puddle of water... still nothing soaks through these boots. Style: I ordered the black and I'm in LOVE with them. They are beautiful. They get the job done in the hefty snow and I was just in NYC for a day trip and they were supper fashionable for going out, too. Returns: I do find it a bit frustrating that Sorel does not offer free returns. All of their boots fit differently and it can be difficult to figure out your size. Sorel is such a fantastic boot, I see myself having these for the next 5+ years so I want them to fit well. Because they are so heavy, it cost me $12 to return. My only complaint is that Sorel should offer free returns, or have some store fronts so that I can go into the store and figure out my size by trying them on. Overall: Fantastic boot. Would recommend to EVERYONE!!! December 26, 2014
Dug into the back of ankles I should have listened to all of the reviews regarding the back of the boot cutting into the ankles. The boots are adorable and seem perfect, except for the fact that the back cuts into the back of the ankle when you walk. I tried putting on heavier socks and it made no difference. Don't waist your money. December 21, 2014
Snaps continuously break during common use I have purchased these boots not once, but TWICE this winter to deal with the Chicago weather. My first pair 3 of the 4 snaps broke so I returned and purchased a new pair. Now on my second pair a snap has broken as well. The snap pulls off the inside of the boot beyond repair. This is happening during normal light use and break off while walking. I have not pulled on the straps at all either. I was very cautious with this pair and they still broke. Not worth the cost. December 17, 2014
Not my favorite Sorel boots I ordered the Joan of Arctic Wedge last year and loved them. This year, I wanted a warmer boot. After reading lots of reviews, I went with the Joan of Arctic Knit due to the low temperature rating (and also because I'm not a big fan of fur, fake or not). I measure at a Size 6 on the Brannock device, and I'm a solid 6.5 in dress shoes and boots. However, I'm also a long distance runner and am accustomed to wearing larger shoes when needed (I wear up to a Size 7.5 in running shoes). I struggled with sizing on this boot. Luckily I have friends with this boot, and after trying on both a 6.5 and 7, I went with the 7. I wanted very much to go with the 6.5 as it is such a clunky, heavy duty boot, but there is something about flat Sorel boots that push my feet forward (same thing happened in the 1964 Premium CVS boot and Conquest Carly, but the heeled Medina II and the JOA Wedge fit perfect in 6.5). Plus, the lining takes up some space in the shoe. If I wasn't buying this boot to wear for long, snowy winter walks with the dog where I plan to wear thick hiking socks, I would have sized down to my normal boot size. My only complaint is that they are a little stiff, so I feel very limited when I walk (probably looks more like trudging) through the snow. Between this and the CVS 1964 Premium (shorter boot), I prefer the latter. December 17, 2014
Classic Sorel Purchased these for my wife who always has cold feet in winter. I've owned Sorels for over 25 years and have always been extremely satisfied, so I gave it a shot. She loves them. Warm, water proof, and look great in a casual setting. She's happy and able to enjoy the cold weather. Would recommend to everyone. Order a 1/2 size larger. December 17, 2014
Hard to walk in These boots are super cute and they get the job done when it comes to keeping your feet warm. They are super hard to walk and drive in. I hope it's just because they are new and I need to break them in, but they actually hurt the back of my feet. It almost feels like you are walking in snowboard boots. Again, I'm hoping they just need to be broken in. They are super hard to drive in, I suggest not doing so. December 17, 2014
What's Not to Love? These boots are just what I expected from Sorel. Well made, true to size fit, they are warm and very comfortable, not to mention so cute. The tread worked great on steep hills during my first outing with them. Needed these for the many hikes I take during the winter here in Anchorage and I'm very happy with my purchase. December 17, 2014
Love them! They are incredibly warm and perfect for any type of snow/rain! Definately recommend December 17, 2014
Great winter boots! I've only had two chances to bust these out in the (so far) mild Chicago winter, but they're great. Very warm and comfortable. I bought half a size up, just to make sure they worked with heavier socks. Definitely recommend! December 16, 2014
Cute and functional After reading mixed reviews on sizing, I decided to use the size chart and guidelines that Sorel provides. I ended up measuring my normal size, and the boot fits great with normal (thin) socks. I got mine in Fossil and they look exactly as they do on the website. It hasn't been cold enough to wear them, but I am almost looking forward to the snowy days ahead in Michigan just so I can wear these boots! December 16, 2014
Boots are too small I wear a size 12 and the boots size 12 were too small. The heal slips when walking. Also, not sure how I would drive my car in these boots, too bulking at the top. This is my 1st experience with Sorel and I'm really disappointed with the size and fit of the boots. December 16, 2014
Best investment! These boots are worth every penny. I was hesitant to spend $150, but after wearing them, I am SO happy I invested in a QUALITY pair of boots. I have at least four boots in my closet I bought that were cute, but didn't keep my feet warm. These not only keep my feet warm, but they are stylish and every time I wear them I get a compliment. A bit bulky, but in our cold Wisconsin weather, these will keep me warm and stylish. I can't rave enough about them!!! December 16, 2014
Look huge! These are completely adorable in the photos and in person, but when you're wearing them it's almost like walking around in clown shoes. I will admit that these are the first snow boots I've had since I was a child, and maybe they're all like this but I feel like they're really big. They are perfect for the Minnesota winter though! December 15, 2014
BEST BOOT EVER! I just returned from snowtubing in The Poconos and my feet never stayed warmer than they did today!! Last year when we went snowtubing, I wore a generic no name "snow boot" from The Bonton... My feet froze and we had to shorten our day... December 13, 2014
Great snow boot Great boot for cold winter and snowy conditions. Fits a bit large. I read some people said it ran small but I think it runs a little big, but I bought thick socks and maybe that's why they run a little big so they can accommodate thicker socks. All in all a great boot that's cute too December 5, 2014
Recommend I measured my foot size according to the guide and got a 7.5 which is normal. After reading reviews, most said they fit big so I got the 7.5. I should have went with gut instinct and got an 8. They fit tight with my heavy socks. I work outside and/or on concrete for 10 hours. The second day I worn them my feet were frozen. This is because my boot is too small so my feet can't breath. I would still recommend this boot! They would have been perfect if I got a size 8!!! Going through snow is amazing. My feet never get wet! December 4, 2014
Finally! I have been wanting a pair of Sorel Joan of Articd for a few years and finally bit the bullet and got a pair. I was really nervous on what size to get after reading all the reviews and I would say they a pretty true to size maybe slightly big I wear between a 9 and 9 1/2 and the 9 1/2 fits perfect. I haven't gotten to use them snowshoeing yet but can't wait. They are a heavier boot but are so cute it makes up for it. I ended up getting the black with the knit top and order an extra liner with the fur too so I can have two different looks. They are great! Paired with my smart wool socks these bad boys are gonna see a lot of snow this winter. December 4, 2014
Great Boot I love my new boots! Being in Montana I need something warm, these boots definitely do that. My only complaints are that they do run a little small. I wear an 8.5 in everything, these I should've gotten in a 9, maybe even 9.5. My other complaint is that the back of these boots are very stiff and hurt the backs of my ankles pretty bad from rubbing. I hope this will get better as they break in though. December 3, 2014
Give it a chance! So like many, I am a college student and I needed a boot that was practical: waterproof, comfortable, the works! (and let's not forget these boots are really cute too) So knowing I would probably need to buy these online, I went to the mall to try this style on in the store to see which size would fit. Of course they had the same boot style, but not the colors I wanted. I am usually 8-8.5 and the 8's were a little snug. So online I went and bought the 8.5's. At first I was skeptical because even though they were warm, they slightly slouched in the back towards the ankle and digged into my heels a bit just like in other reviews. A friend recommended that I should be wearing a thicker sock on when using my boots (the ones you wear skiing, snowboarding etc). So today I told myself I would try this out and if it didn't work, I would return them. Sure enough the boots fit great with these socks inside! My feet were so warm, they fit like a glove and I am now in love all over again. Socks to go with aren't expensive and you can wear the same ones over again. Totally worth buying these boots! Just have to give them a try and see what works best for your feet! Remember: Everyone gets the same boot, but not everyone has the same feet! December 3, 2014
Disappointed I was very excited when my Sorel boots were delivered a couple days ago and in what I thought was a short amount of time. The boots are super cute, more purple than I expected, but cute boots! Size - I wear a size 8.5-9, but ordered an 8 based on previous reviews. At first the boot was too tight, but has since stretched out some. I probably could have ordered an 8.5 though. Fit - It is difficult putting the boot on and taking it off. I have to pull really hard actually. Which is strange, since the boot is not too small size-wise. Warmth - I live in Minnesota and it does pretty well keeping my feet comfortable....not warm, but ok. Toes end up being cold after a short time. Construction - I think there is either a design flaw or a construction flaw at the production factory that was overlooked by quality control. The boot buckles in at the base of my ankle and it's very painful! Every time I walk, the boot buckles in and rubs on the back of my ankles. I've tried Band-Aids, thick socks, rolling my pants so there is more support in the back. No luck. From what I can tell there is not enough support in the back of the boot and it just caves in...the thick purple lining should have gone all the way down the back of the boot to provide support & prevent it from buckling in. Or a stiffer back. I wouldn't mind the buckling if it didn't hurt so darn much and the blisters! I can't imagine the boot would have been intentionally designed in such a way, so there must be some sort of flaw. I wish I could have returned or exchanged the boot. I was very excited to order my first pair of Sorels, but am left feeling disappointed and my ankles hurt! December 2, 2014
Cute and Warm I love these boots but I really wish they made replacement liners!!! December 1, 2014
Rubs my heel I bought these boots to replace my Uggs that I got in college. I needed waterproof boots for walking the dog, shoveling and going to outdoor events. They rub my heel bad! I don't know if I walk differently than everyone else that loves these boots or if you can just put up with it but they are being returned. I usually wear a 9.5-10 depending on the shoe and I got these in a 9. They were fine at first but after all day at an outdoor football game I was nearly in tears with every step. December 1, 2014
NOT WARM ENOUGH I have no idea how they can advertise this boot as up to -25 degrees F. My feet are freezing when it's 25 degrees above. I was looking for a reliable boot to get me through working outside in the winter and it looks like a long road ahead since it's only November. My Uggs are warmer than these. They are, however, waterproof and fashionable. I also don't like that the snaps at the top always come undone. November 30, 2014
prefect I have been looking for snow boots since last year.... I wear size 12 and was nervous to purchase from Sorel because most of the boots were true to fit or cut small.... I took the chance and bought these boots after reading the reviews.... When the came I was a bit upset because they looked HUGE... But then again I am a size 12.... I put them on with thick socks to c if it would be tight but the fit perfectly... I was so happy I couldn't take them off... When I wore them for the first time I didn't feel not one bit of cold air... The only thing is that they are heavy.... But other than that I am very happy n will order again. November 28, 2014
Not comfortable I originally bought these in an 8.5 because of some of the reviews I read. I usually wear a size 8. They were much too big so I sent them back and ordered an 8. They fit perfect but the backbone part of the boot that has the leather strip running down the middle digs into my ankle and makes it really uncomfortable to walk. I am very disappointed because I love the design and everything else about this boot except for that. Unfortunately I can't keep them because of this so I'll be returning them. Hopefully they will re-design this boot and come out with a new one next year. November 28, 2014
My new Favorite Boots! I have owned sorels in the past and have always loved them. My last pair wasn't nearly as cute as this pair, so I figured I would go ahead and order them. They fit true to size. Super cute, and VERY warm. I wore them hunting all year. Waterproof out of the box, so its nice to not have to treat them. They have replaced my old pair for sure. November 26, 2014
Overall love this boot After reading other reviews, I decided to order my actual size. The only problem is when I walk the heels run the back of my foot :( also when I tie around my calf it's almost like my calf is too big to fit the boot. I am still going to wear them because I love the color, love the style November 22, 2014
Love the Warmth! I've been wearing Sorels for many years. They are warm, fit well, and will be my favorite ND winter boot. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to stay warm and dry all winter. I've tried many other boots with claims of keeping your feet warm to -20 to -40F, and nothing compares to a warm pair of Sorels! To the gal who got blisters. I suggest a warm heavy sock, with your boots laced snugly enough that your feet aren't sliding around. November 22, 2014
Great boot but sizing off and fit weird I normally wear a 8.5 in flats, 8 in heels. I bought the 8.5s because this said they run slightly small. When I got the boots, my feet were swimming in them. I would get a 7.5 if I got them again. The other thing that I'm not a huge fan of is how high the toes go. I had a hard time driving my car in them because I couldn't get good leverage of my gas pedal. I am returning and I'm going to go with something else. They are very pretty and very good quality but not practical for everyday use. November 22, 2014
Bring it on winter Getting up when it's still dark out its no fun and going out to clean up the car from the snow it's even worst...and what's even worst than that? -wet shoes...but not this year, Joan of Arctic Knit shoes are gonna protect me! I'm so happy and so ready for this winter season! November 22, 2014
Finally my tootsies are warm!!! I am 100% satisfied with these boots! I normally wear a 7.5 and that is what I ordered. Fit perfectly with even a thicker pair of winter socks. They are a little heavy on the bottom due to the thick rubber but after wearing them for a bit you don't even notice. Bonus workout as I see it!! We have already had below zero weather and my feet were so warm and toasty! Order a pair today, you won't be disappointed! November 21, 2014
Warm, but too large Ordered these in a 9 since the fit guide said they ran slightly small. I'm normally an 8.5 or 9. These were huge and I will be returning them for a size 8. November 19, 2014
Happy Camper Buying this boot has been a pleasant experience! Got here quickly and on time for the first snowfalls. I love how they look, feel, and fit. I normally wear a 9, but ordered a 9.5 They are slightly loose in the foot, but fit great with thick socks. And they tighten nicely around the calves, so no sliding around. They are a little hard to get off at times, but I feel like that will get better once they are worn in. I'm excited for the rest of winter in these, I think they'll be perfect! November 19, 2014
CUTE but killer to walk in I fell in love with these boots the moment I saw them. I typically wear an 8 and the 8 in the boots fit well, with enough wiggle room for my toes. Although the back felt a little stiff, I figured I would break them in. These were my first pair of sorels and I was very excited to wear them to class the next day. My toes stayed reasonably warm, however after the 20 minute walk I arrived to class with bleeding blisters right above both my heels. Wish these were more comfortable and easier to break in but I dont think I can bare the pain to wait and see if they soften up at all. Going to return them and hopefully find a better pair :( November 19, 2014
Great winter boot! I love this boot! It keeps your feet super warm and is very comfortable. The are a little difficult to walk in at first - I equate it to walking in moon boots. This makes me wish they were a little more narrow, but they get the job done! November 19, 2014
A great northern boot I wear an 11 and ordered that size initially. My toes touched the end of the liner without socks so I got a 12 because I wear really thick socks being outside for hours in Michigan cold. They keep my feet dry in the field and are very comfy. Not too heavy or bulky and are pretty flexible. I sprayed them with a clear waterproofer for boots to keep the light tan looking nicer longer. I highly recommend the brand! November 18, 2014
Wanted to love but.... I really wanted to love these boots, but just couldn’t. I debated about what size to get since there seems to a concern. I wear an 8 and purchased an 8 and they fit fine. Like some other reviewers said, the ankle part war stiff and uncomfortable like I left cardboard or something in the boot. The boots themselves are very heavy and felt clunky when walking. They are not very feminine if that is important to you. Also they are a pain to get on and off unless you practically remove the laces. When trying to get the boot off, the lining of the boot came out with my foot. I ended up returning these and buying The North Face Shellista boot instead – so much more comfortable, weighed a lot less and even with laces are easier to get on and off. November 18, 2014
Beautiful, Functional Snow Boot I bought these to be a functional, and stylish, snow boot for cold weather--I plan to wear them at Yellowstone during a winter visit and I read the temperatures are crazy cold there at that time, and I want to wear them on future ski trips to Tahoe. I tried them on in the store with medium weight wool socks. I normally wear a size 8, and I finally went with an 8.5. The store clerk told me that I want some space around my foot because it may swell in snowy conditions (and I had some space evenly all around my foot with the medium socks on and an 8.5). Also, for the temperatures where I am planning on wearing these, I expect I will either wear my thickest socks, or two pairs of light/medium socks. These are really beautiful, high quality, nicely made boots. I feel these are an investment in winter boots for many future snow visits, and they are an excellent value for the quality. I recommend them! November 15, 2014
