How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The best choice If you are going to be anywhere snowy and cold - you need these. If it's 20 below, your feet will always be toasty, even if the rest of your body is freezing. Say goodbye to cold feet. Be forewarned however that these boots are huge and bulky - when I first took them out of the box I was a little taken aback and they seemed like too much. But, as soon as I stepped outside somewhere snowy I fell in love. These are definitely heavy duty clunky snow boots but they are surprisingly comfy and cute. I bought a pair of Tofinos for commuting to work and running around the city in cold weather but my Caribous are the go to when I'm heading to the mountains. You won't find a better snow boot. Note that they do run big. I went down a half size from my street shoe size (and I always am wearing heavy socks too). January 14, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Snow Plow on my feet I wear a size 7 in Sorel products I ordered the 7.5 because I wanted to wear them with thick socks. The main issue with this boot is that they are bulky; however, they are amazing to walk in the snow. While others are slipping and sliding I am soldiering on. The boot itself has a wide toe box; as a result, a person's feet will look larger than they are. Remember ladies' we are not buying these to wear at Fashion Week in NYC. They are functional and warm. One last thing they work best when the user wears wool blended socks/moisture wicking socks. January 11, 2017
Rated 3 out of 5 by Sorel boots Very big and heavy! Thinking about returning January 10, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by These boots were made for walking (through snow) These shoes allow me to walk through the NYC slush with confidence. I normally wear a size 6.5 but they were a little large so I exchanged for a size 6 and they fit perfectly. I can wear a thick sock with a little room in the boot and my feet stayed warm and toasty. They are a little bulky but that is to be expected and worth it when you're walking through the snow without getting your feet wet/cold (and look good doing it). These were exactly what I was looking for and I look forward to wearing these all winter long. January 8, 2017
Rated 3 out of 5 by so so I got these boots in black for a trip to canada. They look wonderful and definitely keep your feet warm and dry. However they are on the heavy side and for some reason or another it threw off my stride In my right side and after a couple day it was almost impossible for me to walk in them from the pain in my groin area. January 7, 2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by Does not keep feet warm I purchased these boots believing they would kept me feet warm. But after playing in the snow for about two hours my feet was freezing. I live in North Carolina so you know our weather does not get real low. Very disappointed in these boots. January 7, 2017
Rated 2 out of 5 by Do your research These boots are very heavy duty! They run about a size big and due to the weight, they cost about $25 to ship back, so make sure you do your research first! January 6, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Surviving the Cold Chicago Winters I bought these because I moved into the city and now walk everywhere I go. If you have ever lived in a wintry city, you know when it snows not everyone shovels. So you are stuck trucking through blocks of snow. In these boots my feet feel as warm as they do at home!!! Yes, they make me feel like I have an elephant's foot, but when the temps are cold it is not about fashion. Even still, I love the tan swayed and the fluff at the top. Oh, and I would recommending going a size up. I am usually anywhere between 7.5-8 and I went with an 8. Fits like a charm. January 6, 2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice, as pictured, pretty clunky These boots look nice. I ordered a 9.5 (I usually am 9.5/10) but people said they ran a little big. However, mine were slightly snug for a 9.5. I thought they were just too clunky/heavy for lighter winters in Portland and for occasional trips to the mountain. I am returning these. They are DEFINITELY heavy duty. Maybe they'd be better for someone in Idaho, Minnesota or Wisconsin with heavier winters. I ended up ordering and sticking with a pair of the 1964 boots. LOVE those. January 5, 2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by "So So Sad" First let me just say I LOVE the Sorel Boots this is my second pair the first pair i had lasted for years, so when i saw the Caribou boots i fell in love with these boots, so after reading the reviews i order a half size down, I wear a 10 in boots so i order a 91/2 so when i got them they were so big, but i have to say they were so soft and comfortable and yet not to heavy, but anyway i am going to send them back and get a smaller size i will let you know what happens next.... to be continued January 5, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cozy! Cozy, warm and great for the winter! Fantastic customer service!! December 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keeps Toes Toasty This is my second pair of Sorel winter boots First I love that they fit my feet. I have had a bunion for years. It's a nightmare buying any type of footwear. I can wear your boots for hours without any pain and discomfort! Second - they keep my toes and entire foot warm and dry the entire time I am outside. We've had over 15 in of snow this year. My socks stay dry whether I'm out walking or using the snow blower. I do wish they had a pair of clasp at the top to help tighten like my last pair. It does take a little bit to get use to their weight. But I keep the weight of the boots for the excellent traction, warmth and dry socks. December 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Winter Boots ever! I love these boots. They have a thick wool lining. They are stable on both ice and snow, good to 40 degrees below. Your feet will never be cold in these boots. December 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and comfortable These are true to size and very warm. We just had a big snow storm in MI and I was happy to have these. I used them while shoveling almost a foot of snow and they kept my feet dry and warm. December 25, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Didn't last a month. Wow. I would have loved my Sorels to have lasted a couple of years. Mine split at the heel after only a few weeks. Store replaced them, but same thing again. This time Sorel replaced then with a differnt style. (Caribous) This pair lasted a little over a month befoe developing cracks along the side at the small toe area. Back the boots went again and were replaced. By this time it was almost Spring. This winter I hauled out the practically new FOURTH pair of Sorels and after a couple of weeks - you guessed it - toe cracks again. I should add I am not hard on boots. I'm a senior and only wear them when walking the dog in the park. My $24. no name boots lasted five years, and the rubber was still fine - just wore out the felt liners. SoI I have to say Sorel has good customer service, but that doesn't mean anything when the product consistently falls apart. December 23, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by These are gigantic! I'm not sure if the size was marked wrong, but I ordered a women's 8 and they are GIGANTIC! They seem like a men's 8 but the receipt and box say women's. They are great quality and seem warm and durable, however, I will be exchanging them for a sleeker, less heavy boot and hopefully it will be true to size. December 23, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, heavy boot. Runs very big These are a good boot for snow, cold temperatures. They are a very heavy duty boot. They also run VERY large. I ordered my normal size 7.5 thinking that they may even be small when wearing a thick sock... in fact they were huge even with a thick sock. I would order 0.5-1 size down from what you normally wear December 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product My Sorel's fit true to size, they were warm but a lil heavy(in which I already knew before purchasing them). We only got a few inches of snow here in NY today but I just had to put them on. I just love them. December 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, but huge! The good thing about these boots is, they are huge! When I wear this I am fearless in the snow. The downside about these boots is still, they are huge....and heavy, I keep another pair of sneaker in my car because I feel I won't be able to control the pedals with those boots. I would recommend these if you are going to walk outdoor when it's snow & after snow December 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Awesome snow boot but... So these are great boots, for the snow & keep your feet warm. They are definitely a clunky boot made for a lot of snow so,if you're looking for something more stylish for light snow I would go with a different Sorel boot. The sizing is off in this boot. I usually wear a size 7 in almost every shoe or boot but the 7 in these was HUGE. I ordered down a full size and they were too small. I could get my foot in the boot but my toes were squished against the front and getting the boot off was a nightmare. Ultimately I ended up getting a 6.5. The boots are still a bit roomy and I can wear very thick socks. At first I felt unsure keeping these but now in the Maine winter and with negative temperatures I've fallen in love with them! December 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Highly recommend I ordered these after reading other reviews. Normally wear size 7.5 but ordered 6.5 and they fit well with socks. I wore these on a frigid, wet day and my feet stayed dry and very warm. They seem bulky when you put them on but they are easy to walk in and easily adjust to. I love them think they are great value. December 16, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great boot, but maybe go a 1/2 size down After much research, I purchased this boot because it had great reviews for its cold weather capabilities, being both waterproof and able to keep your feet warm in cold temps. So far, I am very happy with these features. I live in the mountains of Colorado and we get a lot of snow and can definitely get cold temperatures. There's been a spell this December where our temperature stayed within the single digits and my feet (even when outside shoveling) were nice and toasty in these boots day in and day out. They're very comfortable, although a bit clunky. But that is what I expected from the reviews - these aren't dainty little boots. They're big snow boots to keep your feet warm and dry. I think they still have a cute style as far as snow boots go, but they are definitely on the heftier side. My only complaint would be that I think they do run large (if it wasn't for that, this would be a 5 start review). I am usually between a 7-7.5 and saw on the previous reviews that they run big, so opted for the 7 for that reason. Even with the 7, they still seem too large for me. That really surprised me because I NEVER am a 6.5 shoe size. With this shoe I probably could've gotten away with a 6.5. And I even had my husband measure out my foot like Sorel recommended to make sure I purchased the right size since so many people seemed to have sizing issues with this shoe. It still wasn't accurate. Sorel needs to reevaluate their sizing of this boot, in my opinion. The 7 is too large in length and in width for me. I wasn't sure at first and thought maybe I just didn't have my thicker winter socks on, but after taking the boots out on walks and shoveling, I'm realizing (too late :( to exchange) that I would have been better off with a 6.5. Overall, great boot, well made, lives up to what it promises with warmth and water proof, good sole with nice traction. Only issue is the sizing. If Sorel fixes that problem, they'd be the perfect winter boot! December 15, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by These boots are GIGANTIC My feet measure 26cm, which according to the size guide and the fact that reviewers rated these boots "true to size", means I should have ordered a size 9. I decided to order a size 8.5, since some reviews suggested going down a half size. There is at least an inch between my toes and the end of the boot, even with heavy wool socks on. They are extremely wide, and there is a lot of room between the top of my foot and the boot. They look like they're designed for men. Customer service suggested I order a size 7 (two whole sizes down from my measured size), but I'm not willing to risk the cost of return shipping again. I don't even think a smaller size would fix the sizing issues with these boots. December 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boots Ever! These boots are amazing. I've lived in Chicago my whole life and so far these are the only ones that can handle our winters. They are super warm and the bottoms of the boots are like cleats. Today I had to walk over several blocks of thick ice to get to work and didn't slip once. They are a bit clunky and definitely do run big (I usually get an 8.5 for boots but got these in an 8 and they are still very roomy) so don't size up. I wish they had the alternate lining in stock that doesn't have the fur on it because I'm not a fan of the fur but they are otherwise amazing. December 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boots! Great boots -- so warm and comfortable. Fit is true to size. Bought them for an upcoming hiking trip in Iceland. Can't wait to wear them! December 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by The reviews were right....TOO BIG When I was researching these boots it seemed like half of the reviews said they were true to size and half said they were too large. I even used Sorel’s measuring instructions which told me to order a size 8…which is my regular size. Well….these are WAY too big. I’m super bummed. They are chunky boots as it is, and I look like a clown since they are too big. Also, it doesn’t matter if you wear thick socks, because your feet go in the insert, not the actual boot. I gave them 4 stars because I love everything else about them. My advice is to size down. December 12, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Wanted to love Run very large and are very heavy. December 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My last pair lasted over 30 years I bought these to replace my 30 year old Sorels. I have used them for winter and snowmobiling for all these years. They keep my feet warm for hours in subzero temperatures. Finally the leather has become brittle and I lost the eyelet for my shoe lace. If these last for 30 years I will be very happy! December 11, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Small Normally I take size 7. They fit small and tight. I returned this boots and they charged me expensive shipping fee. Make sure order bigger size! December 9, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by This boot is huge The quality and construction of this boot is great. However, this boot is enormous! It is quite wide and runs long. I also have the Tofino have boot so ordered the same size. I could easily have ordered a half to a whole size smaller. Be warned this is also a very clunky, heavy boot, not one you would want to wear for hours on end. Unfortunately, I will return this boot. December 9, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great But Enormous! Excellent, well constructed winter boots but absolutely enormous! I'm a solid size 8 but have to return them for a 7 -not 7.5, but an actual 7- so I'm paying extra shipping which is annoying. Even with really thick socks they're falling off. They're also heavy but I'm wearing them for heavy snow conditions so that's expected. December 9, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Awesome boots! I do wish I would have gone down a 1/2 size smaller, but once I have heavier socks on I think they will be fine. These boots are so warm and will be perfect for cold weather days! December 8, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Way too large I generally wear a size 7 in boots, but from reading the other reviews and following the sizing chart, I ordered a 6.5, it fits like an 8. I'm having issues finding a store near me as well to exchange them. The boot itself seems very nice, durable, and warm. Like it could really do a great job getting me through the tough Minnesota winter, if only I could put them to use. December 6, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fashion and function I was looking for a fashionable, waterproof winter boot to wear in the snow with my kids. I normally wear an 8.5 but measured my foot according to instructions and ordered an 8. They fit perfectly. They are heavy, as other reviewers have said. These boots are not meant as an everyday fashion boot. They will keep you warm and dry and look cute doing so! December 1, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Annoyed I am super frustrated because I was so excited to get these boots because it is starting to snow. I did the measurement that it says to do to get the right size of boot but it is HUGE. I normally wear a 9. The size chart told me to order a 10. I decided to go with a 9.5 because many reviews say the size runs a little big. I figured that the chart was right on the money with giving me the correct size. The boot fits like an 11 and I am annoyed. November 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boots for Minnesota winters! These boots have been great so far. They're waterproof and durable, yet not super difficult to walk in. They've done well in the first few snowfalls we've had that have turned to snow/slush/puddles/etc. And they're stylish as well. I am normally about a size 8 in most shoes, but I ordered an 8.5 initially based on other reviewers. I had to return the 8.5 and got a size 8. The 8 fits fine. I could probably have even gotten a size 7.5, but at least I'll be able to wear nice thick socks when it gets cold. November 27, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Runs too large Ordered 2 pairs in two different sizes that I usually wear. But they both ran too large and I had to return. November 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by If you don't want a clunky warm winter boot, don't buy! I live in Northern MN & these will be perfect for the winter! I wear an 8.5 & I bought an 8.5. I do have room to wigfle, but when I wear my thick wool socks....it'll be perfect! I'm excited to wear them in the 1.5ft of snow tomorrow. November 23, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Dissappointed Before ordering we checked the fit and it said the fit was true to size; however, when we received our order it was obvious the fit was going to be to large and sure enough when trying them on they were way to big and now I have to pay to ship them back and then we have to wait again for the new order. October 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Snow Boots! I got my first Sorel Caribous 25 years ago, and they have served me well through all those winters in Lake Tahoe. One of the leather D-ring flaps finally split this past winter, so I just ordered another pair to replace them. The only deep snow boots you'll ever need. September 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boot for cold and snow Bought the gray colored Caribou boot and wore it daily for a few years. It fells like a comfortable sneaker. No breaking in. Lived in the northeast U.S. and handled bitter cold and lots of snow. Never leaked. Kept feet dry and warm. (Sometimes I wore a foot warmer for the long days outside, so not sure if I really needed the warmer or not.) I sat in hockey rinks, participated in winter carnivals, walked dog several times a day. I lived outside in these for four months a year with snow and slush and mud. Whatever the winter throws, these boots can handle. These are not "ice-proof," however, the increased surface area, coupled with the tread, helped me stay cautiously steady on icy pavement and parking lots. If my boots were lost, I would replace them with the exact same Caribous. September 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bring On the Snow So I started school where one of the items they kinda required is sub rated snow boots. A coworker recommended these and honestly I was really worried after reading some other reviews. I usually wear anything between a 9 and 10, and decided on the shale in 9.5. They are heavier than normal shoes, but I don't mind at all. It's not even winter yet and I can't wait to break these out. :D August 31, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by As It Looks!!! BIG!!!! If u like and want a big boot? Then this is the one u want! U want to order exactly what u wear..do not size up!! I am addicted to Sorel boots since last year &I it's July n I'm getting my new winter boots before its winter. I no when cold weather comes I will not be disappointed!!!! Every time I wear my Sorel boots out I get compliments!! So if u like compliments .....buy and wear the best....Sorel Boots!! July 7, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Wide wide wide wide wide I bought these and had them sent overnight for a snowboard trip to whistler. I read the reviews and measured my feet according to the sorel directions. The length was spot on HOWEVER these boots are enormous in width! I have normal size feet!!!! Not wide and not slender! I could have fit two of my feet side by side in these boots...with ski socks on etc! They rubbed huge blisters on my ankles because of the width. I am going to try and send them back but I wore them once to see if they would work. It was a waste of $178 to get them to me! I bought another pair on the mountain.. Sucked March 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great For Cold Winter Climates I need boots for a typical Michigan rugged winter. Sorel boots provide nice and dry waterproofing. The bottom soles give excellent traction, even over ice. These boots keep my feet warm and snug. March 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sturdy, waterproof, and warm. I live in Vermont, and was in dire need of new winter boots this year. I needed something durable, waterproof, great in heavy snow, and that would keep my feet warm in weather -40F (which it drops to around here). The Caribou was the cutest boot that fit the requirements.. And I am super impressed with them! They have kept my feet dry and warm this entire winter season- even with all the outdoor hiking I do with my dog. The tread is great- grips well and is thick enough to keep a nice barrier between the frozen ground and my feet. But ladies, you have to realize- these are LARGE, CLUNKY, HEAVY boots! But that's what they are supposed to be! When you're in a blizzard with snow piling up and it's 10 degrees (or much colder!) out, you want boots like these, not slim stylish city boots. Nobody likes frostbite. I wear a 9 1/2 and that's what I ordered, but had to exchange for a 9. They run big. Only complaint is they are a little hard to get off- the lining always comes out when I pull my foot out. I have basically lived in these boots wearing them every day for 3 solid months now, and they have held up great. Plus, I think these look pretty cute with leggings or skinny jeans. Like a rugged snow bunny haha. Love the Buff color. A+. March 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots! These boots are tremendous! Very warm, stylish, and well made. I can tell they will last a very long time. In fact, I have a very similar pair of Sorel boots that I purchased about 23 years ago that I still wear. I bought these because I wanted another pair. I highly recommend! February 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fits snug, very effective I bought the Caribou in black and it looks just like the photo. These boots are like bricks on your feet--you'll especially notice it if you are driving in them--but they definitely do the job and are good for if you've got deep snow. I usually wear a 7 or 7.5 and am glad I did not listen to reviews telling me to buy a different size. I measured my feet and used the Sorel size translations, which told me I was a 7. The first time I wore them, it seemed tight but after one use, it was a very snug but not uncomfortable. As the boots are very heavy, I did not size up, because I worried then I would be tripping over my toes. Definitely am expecting a long life out of these shoes and would purchase again. February 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boots I love these boots already. They are super warm and comfortable for walking around on campus. I followed others advice and got a size smaller. My normal shoe size would be way too big. The size I got, a 6, was tight the first few days but are now stretched to the point where I can wear regular socks and still have wiggle room. I highly recommend them. February 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My First/only boot purchase was in 1984 For 31 years, I have worn my Sorel boots.. I am thinking about buying another pair to replace my current pair. Not because I need to but I basically have worn them to the point, I need to. My boots still keep my toes warm. My only issue is that my original boots are White and I wish to have them in White again! Still pondering a purchase. Love Sorels... February 17, 2016
