How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ripped after a year After weighing the many options for winter boot, I chose Sorel because they last. Unfortunately after one season of light use, the rubber on the heals of both boots has ripped, exposing the fabric underneath. The felt definitely kept my feet warm last season, and they were comfortable - but now they're useless as my feet will get wet if I wear them in snow. Another small complaint is that the felt would always pull out of the boot when I took my foot out, which was annoying. I wanted something I could somewhat easily slip on and off. January 16, 2017
Rated 3 out of 5 by size 8 a little large We love Sorel! But the size 8 WOMEN’S 1964 PREMIUM™ LTR BOOTS I bought for my daughter for Christmas run a little large/wide. The boot seems to be rubbing up and down on her heel. December 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm boots that hold up in snow. Go down half a size Sorel's are the only boots that keep my feet warm for hours outdoors, even in freezing temps. These have great treads so you won't slip on ice. The ankle tends to be a little stiff, and takes a little breaking in, so if you're getting them for a trip where you'll be hiking/walking a lot, make sure you can walk around in them for a couple weekend beforehand. I always size down one half size and I'm still able to wear them with either thick or thin socks. (I am normally always an 8 in every other shoe, but in these and other similar Sorel styles I'm a 7.5.) December 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Midwest Winters? Definitive Must Have I have had this pair of boots since 2012. I live in MN and the winters can either be pretty chill or really rough weather wise. Any calm weather doesn't last long here we tend to be on the extremes. That being said these boots are definitely worth the purchase. They have an insert so size accordingly although for me my size is 7.5 and my boots fit perfectly never had an issue unless I wear very very thick socks which are not necessary since the insert does its job in keeping your feet warm. I have never fallen on ice or slipped with these on. Movement is a bit weird sometimes like when driving since these are very sturdy but it's something you get used to, and they certainly have some weight to them but the quality is by far what makes these a must have if you live somewhere with harsh or unpredictable winters. Rated 5 out of 5 by Tested in Boston Snowstorm - A Success! Bought these last week, and ordered them overnight. I wore them right out of the box, and they fit like a glove! (I recommend checking the size chart they've provided; it's darn accurate). It snowed all morning, almost 3 feet and snow plows haven't come out yet, but I trudged through the heavy snow and have yet to slip!! And I didn't feel like I had lead feet either. They're also genuinely waterproof and warm even when covered in snow. Perfect blend of function and aesthetic! I'm glad I chose these over the typical choice of boot for most New Englanders... as they're cheaper and cuter anyways! December 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Minnesotan Boot I order this by mail a couple of weeks ago. Very stylish and retro boot, but more bulky than I wanted, as I was looking for a more slender everyday boot like The Joan of Arc. However, everyone has those boots or similar and I wanted something a little more unique. Well, I spend the week trying on other boots in person, with the intent of returning these. Then it snowed 6+ inches and temps have gone to -15. These boots are awesome!!! They are true snow boots and perform as such. They have the wool inserts like when we were kids, which just slips out and can be hung to dry. The quality of the leather is wonderful. The bonus is everyday I've worn them I've got compliments on how cute they are. I couldn't find these in any store, so they're not as common as some of Sorels other boots. I think size runs pretty true. I typically where a 9 in shoe and 10 in boots to accommodate socks. I got the 10 and they are perfect. Only drawback, and maybe it's just me but it does run a bit on my back right heal where the lower rubber part of the boot meets the leather and it breaks in my stride. Expect a true, bulky winter boot and you won't be disappointed. These are keepers. December 16, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but slightly dissapointed I brought these boots to head to North Dakota in sub zero temperatures. I depended on them, as I was camping in the snow, and they were my only pair. They fit snug, so i am glad I bought the right size, as many reviews say they run large. I think the felt insole may stretch out overtime. My real complaint is, the thread on the insole came undone, and pulled completely out, separating the base from the rest of the liner. If I didnt carry a needle and thread with me everywhere, I would have been totally screwed, and either frozen my feet off, or had to leave this very important trip. I know not everything can be perfect, and it is just a shoe. But they were brand new, and when something falls apart in the first few days, when you are depending on it, its a little disappointing. The heel also rubbed me raw, through insole and thick sock, maybe something that will wear in overtime?.. All in all this shoe is very cute and very warm. The leather is nice, and it seems made well so far (other than the fluke insole mishap) It did the trick, and I would recommend their warmth over bean boots, as the insole keeps your foot insulated, where I find other boots don't in really cold weather. Rated 5 out of 5 by Snow Boots for Trip to the Northeast I was a bit skeptical on what size to order. Half the reviews say they run large, half say they are true to size. I wear a 9 in running shoes (because of my high arch), an 8.5 in most other shoes, and an 8 in chacos. I ordered an 8.5 (knowing they might be too big) with the mindset that I can always wear thicker socks or double up on socks. I hate when shoes are snug on my toes. These boots were slightly large in the toe box, but I am in love!!! I put on a thick pair of socks, and they are perfect!! I'm afraid the 8 would have fit almost too close to my toes. I used the measurements on the size chart to choose my 8.5. I am incredibly happy with my purchase! I already ordered my brother a pair in black (a half size smaller than he wears - he has flat feet). I hope you enjoy these as much as we are. December 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect for deep snow and warmth these keep my toes toasty and dry in cold temps and wet snow! order at least half size up just to give yourself plenty of room for thick socks December 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great choice These boots are perfect for Michigan winters. They are very comfortable and very warm. I couldn't be happier! December 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ordered Half Size Down Love love love these boots. I love the way they looked online, in the box, and on my feet! I normally wear a 9 however after reading other reviews I decided to order an 8.5, they fit perfectly! December 2, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good For Heavy Snow These boots are amazing and I cannot wait to wear them to the mountain. They seem durable and are easy to clean. My only negative would be that they are very heavy and bulky and you are unable to tell this from the pictures shown. I own the Fancy boots and I expected them to be similar in size however, they are far bigger on the bottom. I bought these in hopes to wear them on rainy days in town as well but they are a bit too bulky for that. Please start providing product on model photos. December 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Blizzards, here I come These boots are great! Not sure why everyone is saying these boots run super large. I'm normally a 5.5 in all shoes, except boots where I sometimes like to go for a 6 for some extra room. I got a 5.5 and they fit great. I found these boots definitely fall within my normal size range. Make sure you use their size chart though, that was a big help in my decision making. Overall, I love these boot and I'm excited to wear them. They've got the perfect blend of function and fashion -- they're cute, but I know they'll deliver on what I need in a snow boot. Rated 3 out of 5 by Super cute but order a size down! I am a solid size 7 with a pretty wide foot and these are huge. They fit a bit better when I tighten the laces as much as I can and wear a thick sock. Even doing that I wish I had ordered at least a half size down (6 1/2) but still could have gone a full size down (6). I will probably have to wear two pair of thick socks but they are great quality and very warm! October 24, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Sizing is awful Because I have made sorel purchases in the past and their products run large, I ordered both an 8 and 7.5. I wear an 8 consistently but even the 7.5 was huge!! I have no idea how far down in size I need to go so I'm done. Pass on this purchase. August 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely Love! These boots save my feet when it's freezing outside, whether that be with snow or rain. The leather is gorgeous and I love the color, and the wool inside keeps my feet warm. That being said, they do run big so as to allow for extra thick socks, and with extra thick socks and snug boots come sweaty feet, so be sure to put some GoldBond on those suckers and you'll be good to go! Rated 4 out of 5 by Love these boots! I attempted getting the right sorel boots 3 times before landing on these babies in a size 8 (a half size smaller than my usual 8.5). First I read the reviews online on sizing and decided to try on in store. I initially bought the Caribou Boot in a size 9. They felt fine in the store but I think the lining smashed down when I was actually walking around in them because they quickly became WAY too large. I took them back and tried on the 7.5 Caribou in the store and those felt good, but I decided I liked the 1964 Premium LTR Boot more, so I ordered those online (they didn't sell them in the store). When the 7.5 1964 LTRs came in, they were too small- I imagine it's because the lining is different than the Caribou that I tried on in store. SO, I finally sent back for an 8 in the 1964's and I LOVE them! Totally worth the hard work-- I just wish it was easier to find the right size initially. The quality looks so nice and they are very fashionable and much lighter than the Caribou (though still a legit winter boot). Winter is over so I guess I'll have to really test them out next year... Rated 5 out of 5 by These kept my feet so warm! I wasn't sure what to expect with these boots. I've never needed snow boots before, but I bought them because I was visiting Maine. I can't believe how warm and dry my feet stayed. I was walking around in the snow all day when it was only 9 degree outside without any problems. Plus, because they have boot liners I didn't even have to break them in. I have none of the "breaking in my boots" problems that I typically have. I can't recommend these enough! February 27, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Fit The boots are perfect for Winter! They are warm and practical without being frumpy. I used the sizing chart to determine my size and the boot fits amazingly. I have a very wide foot and was worried a 10 wouldn't fit my width but it has plenty of room and is very comfortable. February 15, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Boots freeze toes The boots are very nice looking but the quality poor. I have owned Sorels since childhood and they have always kept my feet cozy and warm. These boots, however, freeze my feet. Within 20 minutes of putting them on my toes are ice cold. I have tried different socks- wool, cotton, etc. but still cold. There is plenty of room for my feet to breath as well. When I take the liner out the inside rubber and bottom of the boot is ice cold. The rubber conducts the cold/snow and stays cold which in turn makes the liner cold and my toes/feet. Perhaps it is a defect of my boots alone but there is definitely an issue. February 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super warm and comfortable boot After reading the reviews I ordered a half size down and they fit perfectly. They are so warm and cozy, and I'm so happy to finally have real winter boots. They are pretty bulky on the feet but not unattractive. February 11, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Like slippers These boots are warm and cozy but they have very little foot/ankle support. It's almost like wear slippers around. Also I slipped when I walked inside my office building. But no slipping in the city streets which is important. Anyway I wish there was more of a heel or a little height in the back. February 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Winter Boot Normally I wear a size 9. Ordered an 8.5 after reading reviews and the size chart (longest toe reached the 25.5 cm mark) & was too large, so exchanged for size 8-perfect fit! I absolutely love these boots. Casually wore them around the house & running errands to slightly break in the leather for a couple of days. Shortly after, wore them in wet Portland weather then in the snow on Mt. Hood. The bottom grip allows strong contact with the ground so I never felt like slipping was an option. They are super warm with the liners, however I also ordered the caribou liners as they keep you warm with the lower degrees & give extra bundle with the white cuff. From the city to the mountains, these boots have perfect function for the cold winter with fashion at the forefront. You won't be disappointed! February 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boots I read many reviews saying to order a size up or down, and I can't recommend enough to MEASURE YOUR FOOT and use the size guide Sorel provides. I'm usually a size 7.5 and ordered a 7 and they are, in fact, just a bit too small. There's no chance to wear anything but slim socks with them. Returning them only to get another boot offered in my size (they're out of 7.5 1964s right now) and see if I can deal with the tight fit comparatively. I wouldn't call these bulky, but they are snow boots without a doubt. They have a big footprint to help with traction, which some might call clunky or bulky, but i'm sure they wouldn't feel that way once you get out in icy conditions. They are for-sure built for outdoor wear, and I can't see them being comfortable in any other condition (too warm and wide for school/work). Even my fiance, who is a women's footwear sceptic, is impressed with the quality, look and weight of them, which is truly a ringing endorsement. Would buy them again if they restocked my size. February 3, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect!!! Duck boots are really coming back in style and I needed a good pair of winter boots to walk around campus in since we get so much snow here. These boots are too cute! They keep my feet really quite warm and hold up to the snow really well. Some people say they run too big or too small, I got my normal shoe size an 8.5 and they fit comfortably with enough wiggle room to wear thick socks. They are kind of stiff at first but that was okay. February 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cute, warm boots! These boots are as nice looking in person as on the website. My foot is a size 7 1/2, but because of slight wide width (between b and c), I usually wear an 8. I ordered a 7 and they fit perfectly. They seem like they will be comfortable, have not worn them out yet. January 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots! I generally wear a 6.5, read previous reviews and read that most people bought a half size smaller-- and also due to lack of availability bought a 6 which fits PERFECTLY. I adore them. The removable inner lining is also awesome! January 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best pair I've ever had! I was a little skeptical about the leather. A lot of people say that the salt that used to cover ice is very damaging to the fabric. However, I've had these for about 3 months and they look brand new! Even after hiking for hours. I am usually a size 9 in shoes, therefore, I got a previous sore boot in a 9 and they were huge. So instead, I purchased a size 7. Theu are a tad too tight but that's how I like them! I would recommend one size lower than your actual shoe size. January 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for heavy snow Although a little they're short, these boots are great in the snow! Bought them in October, but I recently tried them out in winter storm Jonas. They are extremely warm!! At first they feel a little snug, however they stretched out just enough for it to be comfortable. I would definitely recommend these boots for anyone that must deal with cold temperatures and snowy days. January 24, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Probably good for heavy snow I measured my foot and ordered my normal size, but the boots were still bigger than expected plus they are super bulky- but not as huge and bulky as the Caribou's!!!. I know however, if I were to order a half size down they would probably be too small with thick socks. It hasnt snowed heavily yet in the Northeast, NYC area... but Im keeping them because they are warm and waterproof. Plus I didnt want to go through the hassle of paying for returning and trying on yet another pair of boots that may or may not fit. I love SOREL, but I wish they would get the fit right. January 18, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sturdy & Warm These boots are just what I needed. Waterproof, stylish and warm! My only complaint is that they're extremely wide, especially on my legs. Besides that, they are great. I would also recommend sizing down. I'm usually a 9.5 and I got the 9 and they fit great, even with thick wool socks. January 15, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed emotions I loved the look of this boot online. After reading through reviews I decided to order a half size smaller than the normal size 8 I always wear in shoes. The size 7 1/2 arrived and were absolutely huge on me so I returned them and ordered a size 6 1/2. The 6 1/2 are still too big, but not so much to return and reorder another size. The photos online do not show how excessively wide the boots are. I have about 1/2 inch of excess shoe on each side of my foot, and still about an inch too long. I don't understand why they can't make the shoes true to size of any other brand. But at the end of the day if when we have crazy winters in KY if my feet are warm and dry that will be the most important thing. I also do love that they have inserts that come out so that if its not so cold out you can wear the boots as normal boots. January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by So happy These boots are so comfortable and so warm. Also, very stylish in my opinion. I haven't gotten a chance to really put them through much because I've just gotten them for Christmas, but judging by the quality, I don't think they'll disappoint. Im so happy with these boots! Read the size guide though before ordering your size. January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Boots!! These are the best boots I have ever purchased! I have some circulation issues and have tried many types of boots that fail to keep my feet warm. These actually work!! That are stylish yet understated, comfortable, classic, and best of all do everything I expected of them!! They are tough enough to keep me warm even in the the harsh Michigan winter! I am definitely making these my go to boots!! December 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best snow boots I've seen! I love, love, love these boots! I normally wear an 8 1/2, sometimes 9 and my husband ordered me an 8. They fit perfect. They are SUPER warm. They have a thick wool like liner. It hasn't snowed here yet so I haven't gotten to test them in the snow but I can tell just from wearing them around a bit they are very warm and cozy. They are a bit wide so you definitely don't want them to be any to big. I have seen girls wearing similar boots and these are by far my favorites I've seen! December 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by WI Winter So at first when I got these there was no snow :( and I wore them once on a super cold day, feet were hot. They were snug at first. Then we got a snow storm and I tested them out while cleaning off my car. Awesome! Dry, Warm, feet. I do believe they are more for snow and ice and extremely cold temps. Make SURE you use the Sorel guide to measuring. December 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by First Snow Boots This is my first pair of snow boots, and love them! Love the style, and looks super cute on. They do feel somewhat wide, but I'm still able to walk comfortably. December 15, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by too big Ordered these boots for my daughter with the size she normally wears, and they were "huge" on her. Have to return. December 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by What I was expecting The boot is roughly true to size, it's a little snug, so if you wear really bulky sox, I would consider going up half a size. They are on the bulky side, but over all a really cute boot. It is real oiled leather, so don't be surprised when it comes in a little greasy. I would deffinetly recommend this boot, it's super warm and comfortable, but a little weird to walk in at first because it is so bulky. December 11, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too small I was going to order a 7.5, but I checked my size using the size chart, and changed my order to a 7. They arrived yesterday, and the 7 is too small. Unfortunately, now the 7.5 is sold out. I do really like the boots, though, so I will see if I can find them somewhere else in a 7.5. December 4, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Winner! Great boot, kind of bulky but very warm and comfortable! Needed half a size smaller than recommended size from chart. October 26, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by way too big I haven't worn them in the snow yet so I'm only reviewing the size. I'm usually a 6.5 and according to most of the reviews it was true to size. When I got the 6.5 it was a couple inches too big! I felt like I was clunking around in men's shoes. After reading the fit guide I measured my feet and ordered a 5.5 according to the sizing chart. These fit better, feels snug, a bit around my big toes, but not a deal breaker. Return shipping isn't free so measure before you buy! October 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keeper My last Sorel boots lasted 20+ plus years. My garage was broken into and my boots were taken. I ordered these as a replacement and am not disappointed. Great quality as expected. Hope these will carry me through another 20 years. October 18, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Choosing a size to purchase I read all the reviews and was quite confused on what size to purchase. I bought an 8.5 and they ended up being too big, had to exchange for size 8. USE THE SOREL FIT GUIDE, measure your foot in CM and order that size for 1964 premium leather boot (this will also include taking into account the liner) Facts: In the Sorel Slimpack boot and a pair of the 1964 wedges I wear a size 9. My Nike running shoes are a size 9. Don't waste your money on return shipping and playing the waiting game - use the Sorel fit guide. October 9, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by A little disappointed Thsee boots are of nice quality but unfortunately are very clunky. If you have short legs like me I wouldn't recommend getting these. September 23, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Too Clunky Though the boot is beautiful online, the boot is very large, heavy, and not flattering. They made my feet look massive; maybe twice their regular width. They definitely wouldn't be my go-to for any day-to-day activities. Will be returning. To Sorel's credit: These seem like they are high quality, and they might be nice for very snowy/wet regions. September 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excited to give these a shot Read many of the posts on here before ordering. I definitely recommend ordering a 1/2 size down from your normal size. I have never been anything but an 8 and ordered a 7.5 and they fit perfect, even with thick winter socks. No comment yet on their actual functionality in snow/rain, since it's September in NY and I would be very sad if I actually had to use them at this point. I think I will get alot of use out of them come the winter though. September 17, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sending these back for a new pair After putting these shoes on and taking them off a few times, I noticed a small tear in the rubber seem on the right shoe heel. I'm hoping this is just a manufacturing error because I know they are normally good quality shoes, and I'd hate for the rubber to rip even more while I'm walking in the snow. Aside from that dilemma the fit and comfort is very good. August 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Boot! I ordered my actual size and it is absolutely perfect! I am so obsessed with this boot it is so amazingly warm! DEFINITELY buy this boot. It also matches black or brown! November 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Will require a break-in period Just got my boots today. I ordered an 8 which is my normal size. Fits good! The boot looks and is a lot bigger on the outside but with the liner, it fits true to size for me on the inside. They would be too big without the liner. They are quite stiff, so they will need to be broken-in. They are fairly light considering their purpose. These are boots that I feel I will have for 10 years +. November 24, 2014
