How to Measure Your Foot

  • Place your feet flat on a piece of paper and mark your longest toe and the back of your foot. It's best to do this standing and wearing socks
  • Measure the length (cm) straight from your longest toe to the back of your foot using a ruler or measuring tape.
  • Use the chart to find your size.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rubber Cracked in TWO pairs. Here in Vermont, we depend heavily on our snow boots during the long New England winter. I purchased a pair of Caribous in 2012 to replace a competitor's pair that had lasted me over 15 Vermont Winters. Half way through Winter I noticed that the rubber around the toes had developed a crack. The cracking grew longer and wider as Winter progressed resulting in wet, cold feet every day. I work outdoors 80% of the time,so this was a miserable personal experience. $149 down the drain. I suspected that the first pair was a fluke and, since I do like how Caribou's look, I took the plunge and purchased another pair the following year. The same thing happened: during Winter rubber cracked and crept around the toes resulting in soggy inserts and cold wet feet again! Out of pocket another $150! In my opinion this product is sub-par. Rated 5 out of 5 by WON'T BUY THEM AGAIN Because I will not need to. I bought my Sorel Caribou's more than 30 years ago and they are still going strong. Very warm and since they are more than THIRTY YEARS OLD it goes without saying the quality cannot be beat. You can buy a cheaper pair but then you will need to buy another pair to replace the cheap ones. Don't remember what I paid for them but at todays prices they cost me $5 a year. I did make two modifications, I heated the boots with a hair dryer and coated the outsides with Sno-Seal which is a combination of paraffin and bees wax. Also I coated the liners with liquid Plasti Dip. It is a rubber coating used to dip tools into to form a rubber grip. After that I could stand in deep water and not a drop touched my foot. Who passes down shoes? I will because these things won't wear out. November 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by They last and last ! Have them for 16yrs. Just wear them when I sell at the farmers market each year.Make sure you wear woolen socks and your feet will never feel cold again. September 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm No boot I have ever owned matches these boots for sub zero NY weather. It gives me confidence on the worst days that at least my feet wont freeze or get cold when I leave the protection of the house. Sorel, its my Go to Boot. April 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect boot for extreme cold I bought a man's boot as I have a very wide foot and I was extremely pleased with this boot. I was out in below zero weather in Alaska for 10 days and never had cold feet! Highly recommend this boot. March 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The BEST! Bought these for my son, because I've had two pairs in the last 30years and feel they are the best winter boots for the money. They fit correct and they work great in these great NH winters.Thank you Sorel! March 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boots I have only worn them once but that one time was great. I felt the size was perfect and the fit for my feet was great. Haven't worn them in the super cold yet, but I know that they will be perfect because I have my original pair that I bought when I was 18 and now I am 62 and they still are great. thanks, DM - CT February 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boots..Great Buy! I wore Sorels for 22 years while serving in the Air Force...many long cold days outside on the flight line. One of the best pieces of cold weather gear I've ever worn. Sadly, they were stolen at a ski area in Colorado. Guess somebody needed them more than I did. Purchased a new pair of insanely priced Caribou's on clearance at the Base Exchange. Okie's don't have much use for boots like this, but I knew an awesome deal when I saw one. It was snowing the day I bought them and I put them on in the store before leaving. Walking out the door was like getting reacquainted with an old friend. Fit perfect, comfortable and warm...AHHHH. Must say the pair I purchased was a full size smaller than what I usually wear. A little concerned by some reviewers experiencing cracks in the rubber outsole. I've seen this happen before with these boots back in my Air Force days and I would attribute the cracking to wearing an improperly fitted boot...too large a size. Did I mention these boots look great too? February 27, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Way too big for a normal leg You probably can't tell by the pictures, but these boots are too large compared to your legs when you try them. Other models are not as big as this one. It would be great if Sorel uploaded some picture of a model wearing them so you can see what I'm saying. If you don't mind that, these boots will definitely keep you warm, excellent quality, and the colors are awesome. February 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gift for Dad I bought this boot for my Dad size 9. He was very surprised they fit him. He loves the boot and said "they are very warm and cozy" he is going to recommend the store to his friends. I will also recommend the store to my friends. February 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best snow boots ever! I bought these to wear casually on our skiing trip to Snowshoe and couldn't be more pleased! I had to buy a half-size larger than I needed, but with the inserts and thick socks, they fit perfectly. Our last day there, the temp. range was -8 to -42 and my feet were toasty and warm. I'm glad I spent a little more for the Sorels. February 20, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sizing a huge issue Order about 2.5 sizes too big if you'd like to get them actually on your feet. Great deal on great product, but had to send them back twice to get the right fit. February 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by are you kidding? with record amounts of snow where I live in Massachusetts, I am not at all hesitant about getting out in the snow. I was before, to be sure, but not now. The boots arrived just in time for me to be able to do what I have to do, in the snow and the cold, and not worry about braving the elements. February 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by new school this boot has a very young new look to the old classic sorel. I love it! i am normally a 10 bought a nine. a little snug to start but perfect after two or three days. February 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Back to the best Came back to Sorel after going without for a while glad to have them again wore my first pair for years on my trapline in Montana coldest those boots saw was 38 below zero and they did just fine the new ones seem every bit as good and I am glad to have them I expect they will last me for a long time again!! great for snowshoeing, hunting ect January 31, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by I so wanted to like them. Let me first preface this by saying I really wanted to like them. My wife and kids have Sorels and they all love their boots. I am 5'5" and normally wear a size 8. I purchased the caribou in a size 7 after trying them in the store. They look amazing and the quality is very nice. The soles feel thin and I'm concerned I would feel the cold under my feet. My only real concern is how big they look on me. The boots look huge relative to my size. They're just too wide and big. They fit fine but they add an extra two inches of rubber and material which add a lot of weight which make them heavy and clunky for daily use. Driving is a challenge but can be done with a gentle touch. Perhaps I'll try a different style but the classic Caribou will not work for me. :( January 31, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Fashion boots only, don’t expect them to last! These were great boots for 2.5 winters. I wore them for shoveling and general wear during snow storms in NH... until the rubber on the bottom cracked and they are no longer waterproof. There's a fold that develops in the rubber above your arch/ball of foot and that’s where they cracked on both the left and right boot. If you have your receipt, you might be able to get it replaced under warranty. I don't and now I have nice looking but useless snow boots. January 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Minnesota Living During Minnesota winters we can experience below freezing temps, several feet of snow, and lots of ice. So far I have founds these boots to work perfectly in every type of weather. They are not only warm, and keep my feet dry in the deep snow, but they also have great traction on our ice covered roads and sidewalks. I would definitely recommend these boots to anyone looking! January 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the boot, sizes BIG I love the Caribou Boot! I would definitely recommend trying them on before purchasing. I wear a 10.5-11 shoe/sneaker but in the 11 I was swimmimg and even in the 10.5 I was pistoning up and down with every step. I finally worked my way down to a 10 when I went to the Sorrel store in Manhatten and found the right size, 10. Once again I love the boot!!! They are warm, fit well and look good too. I will definitely buy Sorrel again and recommend. Great product!!!!!!! January 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Caribou boots Good shipping time, fit true to size as advertised. Had to wait a couple of months to give them a good cold weather and snow test and they kept my feet warm and dry. Very pleased with my new boots! January 20, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not as warm as advertised These boots will not keep your feet warm at the temps advertised. The liners are much thinner than my older boots and the boot soles are very thin. I am very disappointed. I hate them and can't return them. January 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Boot, but sizing is too big I usually wear a 10.5 US shoe, but with these boots, the 10 was even too big. I had to go with the 8 for a snug fit. Now with the proper size, I must say these boots feel great! January 6, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fitness in sub-zero temperatures I live in Minnesota and waited until we had sub-zero temperatures to assess my new boots. We have been to -10 now, with -25 wind chill. I find the boots comfortable, but I do feel the cold a little bit through the soles, so I wonder if they would be adequate for the advertised -40. The metal rings for lacing are quicker and easier than the holes on my previous Sorels. I am hoping for the 25 years of service I got from my last pair! January 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great looking boot Bought for my teenage son as Christmas gift. Fit was perfect, the color is sharp looking. January 4, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Boots Not Warm Enough I bought these boots for my husband for Christmas since we were spending the holidays in Utah. After wearing them the first time, he complained that his toes were cold. So we are returning them. We are very disappointed as we thought there would be no issues. January 3, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Low quality I have had Sorel boots for years. My father-in-law, a retired cop gave me a pair of well worn originals with new liners that lasted me another 15 years in upstate New York. I liked them so much that 3 years ago I bought a pair of Black Caribou to use for dressier occasions. This year with the advent of winter I wore my boots only to discover a leaking boot. I got only two years of moderate use before I need to replace them. Today I checked the warranty and see I am out of luck. 1 year warranty I am like many people here. Disappointed by the drop in quality. I will not be buying Sorels again. December 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great boot, liner annoying. Everything about this boot is great- perfect for MN winters. Only complaint is that the liner comes out every time he takes them off. Going it will get better with time. December 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pectfect! I purchased these boots for my husband. We own a second home upstate NY where we have a small farm. On week ends my husband tends to the live stock. He wore one pair of socks and his feet dry and warm. He loves them. He actually was surprised, I wasn't because I purchased a pair for myself last year. They do run large so purchase one size smaller. December 4, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Caribou Boot I purchased this boot for warmth. I Live in Minnesota where temps drop below zero often. This boot does not keep my feet warm for very long, this is a well made boot but...... When walking on the snow it feels like the bottom of the boot is not thick enough, you can feel everything you step on. I Did wear the boots otherwise I would return them. Get a boot with a way thicker bottom and heal. I'm Still looking for a good warm pair of boots. Thank you. December 4, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not your dad's Sorel Caribou boots Up until this past week I really enjoyed the look and feel of my Sorel boots. This was to be the 4th winter wearing them here in NJ, so usage has been light. Needless to say, they are not going to see winter #4 because the sole detached from the rubber upper on the left boot. So my otherwise near mint condition boots are useless. I had lived in Ottawa, ON in the late 90's and had a pair that I left for a friend living there when I moved back south... wouldn't you know it, he is still wears them to this day. Obviously I can't return 4 year old boots but they should last much more than 4 years. Is there any way to get these repaired? From what I see online they are good for the garbage. What a shame. December 2, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Disappointed I bought a pair of these on multiple recommendations. I was very happy with them at first but after only two months I started getting cracks above the sole/below the rubber upper. I took them back to the store I purchased them from and got a replacement pair. That new pair lasted only three months before I got a HUGE split in the rubber. I took those back too and will not buy another pair again. December 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Last winter boot you'll need I work outside all day in this coldest MN winter and these are hands down the warmest and most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I got a size bigger only cause I climb and do a lot during work. It's not clunky and did I mention very stylish? Last boot I'll need December 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect snow boot period perfect snow boot period! November 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sorels are classic winter wear for a good reason-- Still the best Winter boots out there after all these years. I live in Mn--cold winter is the norm-- 20-, 40- I have been wearing Sorels for 40 years-- the new model Sorels are as good as the older ones, and those I wore for decades--Very grateful this co. came back with their boots. Can't go wrong with them. I buy a size larger than my shoe-- room for two pair of socks- one light, one heavy wool-- warm as can be on the coldest days. November 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by College Student Approved I attend a school that was ranked the 4th coldest campus in the nation, and these boots do a great job at keeping my feet warm! The only issue that I've come across so far is that they are slightly large, I wear a size 12, but I could have ordered a size 11.5. The slightly larger size might be nice for thick socks and/or shoe inserts, so it might not be so bad after all! November 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm, Dry, and also Fashionable I purchased the Buff set circa 1990 and used them for work and pleasure. My set has the Vibram sole and made in Canada. The soles are moderately worn and the rubber base material is beginning to crack in a few areas. I also purchased two extra sets of liners (a must) to permit everyday usage. The liners take longer to dry out than just the unlined boot. I still use them today, but I have had to place some rubberized sealant at the tiny cracks to maintain the waterproof capability. November 24, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Sorel Caribou I have owned Sorel Caribou's for over 30 years. They are comfortable and warm. The problem is in the longevity. My first pair lasted 14 years. My second pair lasted 14 years. 4 years ago I bought my 3rd pair. Lasted 2 years before the rubber started splitting. I bought my 4th pair during the winter of 2012 (Thought I would give it one more shot). They are now starting to split in the rubber also. Two years after purchase. I give up. No more Sorel Caribou's for me. Quality of materials or quality control has failed me. November 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by sorel My family loves their sorel boots. I've had good boots from fleet farm for construction but my caribou boots are very warm and extremely comfortable. I do snow shoveling and out reaches for several hours in the mn cold and never had a problem yet with cold feet. PTL for these boots. November 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Toasty This boot replaces a pair I have had for over 40 years. They are very warm and keep the feet dry. There is no slipping and sliding with the tread. My only problem is I have a wide foot. I normally wear a size 10 but had to go to 12 just to get my foot in and it is still quite snug. I suspect this will cause the liner to wear out prematurely. Nonetheless, you can not beat Sorel for warmth. October 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Out of Box review only..... I ordered these boots by recommendation. Shipping was exactly on time, almost to the minute. Boots look great. I wear a size 12 in just about everything (dress shoe, sneakers, etc). These boots fit slightly larger which is fine with me. It leaves me room for a heavier pair of socks or an insole insert. Boots are a bit heavier than I'm used to but if it keeps my feet dry, thats fine. Now, all I have to do is wait for some snow to try them out. September 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by nice perfect, perfect, love them September 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent purchase after years of using leather hiking boots in the winter such as vasque sundowners and EMS gore tex boots i decided to purchase the caribou last fall and i could not be happier! We had a pretty cold and snowy winter here in the mountains of colorado and these boots got put to the test and passed with flying colors! For starters they are WARM and my feet were never cold in any conditions even at -20 which we had on several mornings this past winter. my feet stayed dry in all but the deepest snows and the boots are thus far showing no signs of wear at all despite fairly regular use last year. I used these boots for walking the dogs, shoveling snow and limited hiking and snowshoeing and was never disappointed. the tread shows no signs of wear, nor do the leather uppers and rubber lowers. they did run a bit big for me and with a thin sock feel too large but with heavier wool socks fit just fine. they are heavy and not sell suited for serious athletic activities but thats not what i bought them for. couldnt be happier with my purchase! highly recommended! August 14, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed! Have always had high regards for Sorel boots...until now. I started out loving these boots, but after only a year and a half the rubber has begun cracking at the flex points. Certainly not the same boots I grew up with that seemed to last a lifetime! March 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sorel boots are high quality I bought these as a replacement for my 20+ year old Sorel boots that finally wore out. There are not very many things of that quality and durablity. The new boots are the same quality, and I expect that they will last 20= years also! February 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Men’s Caribou™ Boot Very comfortable, and warm, a little bit heavy/bulky but can live with as long as they keep me warm and dry (and they do) February 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boots These boots are comfortable, warm and dry. I've always had Sorel winter boots and have yet to be disappointed. February 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by You want these boots for the very cold. These boots laugh at the cold. February 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toasty Boots fit slightly large but not enough to send back. Very warm and comfortable. February 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by boot purchase ordered from a live person, very polite. sent confirmation . able to track the boots every day. Received them in 6 days. they had said 7-10. Fantastic service. February 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Total Quality I bought these boots in 1980, I've been using them ever since. 34 years. The laces are about to give out and 20 years ago my dog chewed one of the snow frills part way off (thankfully he missed the leather), but they're still as warm and dry as they were when i bought them all those years ago. They have the original wool felt inserts too. I can't think of a product that's stood the test of time better than these Sorels. They get my highest recommendation. February 14, 2014
